- Hello, I'm Constantinos! Apart from pretending to drive fast, I also have created the Lovely Dashboard & Pit Wall, which you can spot in my streams.
As part of my Chill, Chat & Dev live stream on March 13th, I took a deep dive on SimHub's Controller Mapper. A very easy way to manage multiple steering wheels on multiple games. But this also works great even if you have only one steering wheel... watch the video to find out why.
You can read the entire detailed documentation on SimHub's Wiki github.com/SHW...

You can also use one button for 2 actions. I.e one button for ignition and starter. Long press and short press
Good tip! If you want you don't even need long or short press, for example I use it to have DRS and Overtake-boost on same button
Just be aware some sims do not work well with this method. For example, ACC requires a longer pulse for the starter so it won’t work.
You know how awesome this video is....just wanted to say thanks for making it and sharing the knowledge. I've got two other rims that I have never used because I'm lazy and I never understood how to do this optimally. Now I do.
Constantinos, you are a legend! Great info. Wonderful insight. Thank you! 👍
Thank you!!!
FREAKING AWESOME VIDEO!!! Great stuff.
If you use an Arduino USB ATMEGA32U4 and set SimHub to Bridge (not VJoy but right next to that) you can triple the number of inputs - just in case you run out of 128... 🙂
Yeah I saw that. 128 is enough, but is it really 🤔
only use one wheel atm, but good to know. great video
This is good even if you have only one wheel. Mapping everything to a sim is simpler. And when you do add a new wheel, no fussing around.
@@LovelySimRacing yea good point. i need to take the plunge back into simhub. was using it for haptics previously but not atm
I've tried using this in the past and couldn't get it to work properly. I have 2 button boxes, 4 rims and a stream deck. I am going to try once again to make this work as it seems ultra convenient if it's set up correctly.
Hi Constantinos, this was awesome thank you so much. Why don’t you do a video using this with stream deck and the icons you created.
I’m could make a quick yeah, it I do quickly cover the stream deck in this one too.
Thank you very much for your detailed video. It opens up completely new possibilities and will help me a lot with the setup! But before I start the system changeover, I have one more question. I also use a steering wheel without buttons and paddles. I will replace the buttons with the Streamdeck and the paddles with the Heusinkveld Shifter. Now my question. Since the steering wheel is not connected to the PC via USB (which is not necessary), it cannot be recognized by Simhub. Is there a workaround for setting up a dummy steering wheel?
I don’t think you’ll need it at all. If the wheel does not have buttons, then why does it need to be connected?
Because I want to use the (via Simhub) binded paddels (HE shifter) and the „buttons via Streamdeck.
@@christianw.8774I assume the paddles will connect to the pc (thus Simhub). I don’t think this will affect anything.
@@LovelySimRacing I'm afraid I haven't managed to express my problem clearly. For road racing, for example, I use an Ascher steering wheel with integrated paddle shifter and buttons. The Ascher steering wheel is connected via USB and thus recognized by Simhub. So far, so good. When I drive an oval race, I use a "naked" Nascar steering wheel without buttons and without shifter paddles. So I shift with the HE shifter and use the keyboard or maybe even the Streamdeck as a replacement for the missing buttons. For this I need a "virtual" steering wheel in the Control Mapper so that I can reassign the shifter and the buttons. I wanted to know if this is possible. Thank you very much!
The process would be the same. You should use the Control Mapper always, even for the Ascher wheel and the NASCAR wheel. You will just map the Controls to other buttons.
Am I correct in assuming that this only works for steering wheels that are connected separately via USB and are thus their own USB device? For example, I have a Moza Wheelbase and several Moza wheels. Since not all buttons on the different steering wheels match up one-to-one, it would be a nice method via SimHub, as this way each steering wheel could get a proper loadout. However, within SimHub, only the base is recognized and not the individual steering wheels, which unfortunately makes it impossible to create proper loadouts, or am I missing something?
Hmm, I don’t really know that answer. If all wheels are recognised as one device I assume that will be an issue.
You may find more answers in my discord though, I’m sure more people will have more experience with these types of devices.

This is going to make my life so much easier... How can you map a specific rotary encoder position to something like Engine Map (1, 2, 3, etc.)? I have the Fanatec F1 wheel and I would like to use those knobs.
I think I answered my own question ; switched the MPS mode to constant. Simhub then recognizes every rotary position as it's own button.
You got it. It is primarily a function of the hardware. Similar to how the Ascher Racing has the Dial Modifiers… it needs to have the hardware support first.
Hi Constantinos, thanks a lot for this vidéo, very useful. But I misunderstood something I think. For stream deck actions, it is impossible to assign keyboard keys via control mapper? Are only the steering wheel buttons assignable?
Steering wheel buttons are seen as controllers, so it’s easy to map. But for the stream deck you will need to install the Simhub plugin (available in the controls mapper) and then you use that to trigger ANY alias via the stream deck.
Just one "simple" idea.. control the audio. Game / master/ voice volume.. integrated in simhub.. shoud be great..
Doable, of course
Playing around with it further, FYI I can't get EA WRC to work with it. The button assignments are not working through the phone app. Seems to work for every other sim. Constantinos, do you have WRC to try? Maybe it's just my user error.
Thank you, that's a great tutorial!
Question: Does this work on analog input as well? For example, if I want to map the clutch paddles on my wheels?
Nope. But I will check in with Simhub and see if it’s planned
@LovelySimRacing yah I wanted to add my analog handbrake but it doesn't work. It would be a useful addition.
@@peterw8911 latest beta version of Simhub, now support analogue.
@@LovelySimRacing that's amazing!! Haha. Is the download for this, or do you have to wait for the official release?
@@peterw8911yeah, you can find the download in their discord.
ACC fails to record inputs when using the phone. What could be the issue? SimHub says that Vjoy is connected (green status). Scanning the QR code opens the page with no issues. But then ACC would not bind when clicking on the buttons via phone. I did map 2 functions but nothing else works.
I did enable firewall access
Should not be a problem. Try contacting Simhub directly through their Discord. I’m sure you will find help there…
Hi Constantinos. Can you also use this to map simhub screen button control assignments to cycle through lovely dasboard screens and screen elements? Or just in game?
Everything.
Does this also work for the analog clutches on steering wheels?
Yes, you can set analogue inputs as well.
any way to solve the issue of vJoy not installing? stuck there
Not sure.
Great content! But im still need some help to add a quick reverse in iracing. Someone?
Do, you need an R button, right?
@@LovelySimRacing yep thats right! But i cant find in iracing a quick reverve mapping button
Nice video, do you know if anywhere has the mapping file to import with all of the iRacing functions?
No idea. But you should map all the functions you use, across all cars. I don’t think there’s a need to map ALL the functions/aliases.
@@LovelySimRacing It's ok I've created 90% of them.I would just be missing the modern F1 3x diff and 4x ERS settings but I don't really drive them for that reason. I couldn't find the alias file to import anywhere.
Hi Constantinos,
I am thinking about using the Simagic GT Neo with the Fanatec DD+ base, but I am not keen to buy the podium hub for this. I noticed you are using this red plug, I guess to simulate the wheel so the FFB is working.
Can this be purchased anywhere? Is it working?
It is made by Sim Racing Machines, and you can find it in the link below. Simon is a great guy, and the device works flawlessly.
I have no affiliation and I purchased it with my own money.
simracingmachines.com/product/tiny-srm-emulator-for-fanatec-wheelbase/
I will also be using the GT Neo with my DD1 + QR2.
@@LovelySimRacing Thank you very much for your fast response! I just currently switch from console to PC and still a little bit positively overwhelmed by the new possibilities. :)
Brill, but I'd rather not involve yet another "device" in order to do this, perhaps I'm being technically ignorant but why the need to involve my phone?, I never take my phone into my race room when racing, I find it a distraction.
You don’t need your phone. In the video I explain that you need the phone as intermediary to setup the controls mappings in the game. You only do this once…
1:38 How may people checked their own Discord thinking there was a message for them (I did)?
I did twice while editing 😂
@@LovelySimRacing haha!
Can you map stream deck for pit stop.
There’s a stream deck plugin that connect all of Simhub’s Control Mapper triggers. Essentially, anything you map in Simhub’s Control Mapper, you can trigger from your stream deck.
@@LovelySimRacing Where is best place to get icons for stream deck.
