All changes should be gradual as per another great Guru. One can eat soy, cheese, bean protein, paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and other cheese varieties, other lacto vegetarian foods during an appropriate transition period and then move gradually to pure vegan.
respected kino if every human in this universe thinks as you, really this will be a heaven. you are gifted. rare blessing are there with you. there is one shloke in shreemad B'geeta... shuchinam shrimatah gehe... on you.
Just want to add that I don't believe plants "suffer". Plants often grow much better when they are harvested or pruned. The process of cutting or harvesting is beneficial and is designed this way.
Sooner or later in the process of introspection in yoga you will experience yourself as the witness of your mind & body and then you will experience yourself as the pure consciousness. The pure consciousness is the expression of the jeeva/living entity/life force. You will then realise the presence of the jeeva in every living entity and you will begin the practice of ahimsa. The yoga teacher doesn't really need to preach this: We can honour the innate wisdom in each of our students and they will see in due course. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna says "offer me a fruit, flower, leaf or water with devotion and I will accept it." We should offer any veg food we prepare to God as we know Him, before taking ourselves. This is the Vedic method.
I've lived the past 5 years on a mostly vegetarian diet aside from seafood every week or so, after taking a 10 day vipassana course. What she says resonates a lot with my own thoughts I've had in my own journey.
That’s the beauty of practicing yoga. Once you start realizing benefits there is no limit to how many different ways it can benefit an individual and people around them. I believe they actually feel and make changes on their own rather than listening to someone.
As other people have said it's much suffering in both the dairy and egg industry. Better then to let all animal products go and be fully plant powered both in life and yoga.
There are several vegetables that also fit into the symbiotic relationship you mentioned with fruit. Squashes, Cucumbers, Tomatoes (technically fruit), any plant that you can harvest without killing the plant falls into this category. And I agree with your point, if you are killing plant it is much lower on sentient scale. Animals and vegetables are really not comparable in terms of sentience but meat eaters often fall back on this one to justify their behavior.
ad for dairy industry before this video is a total disconnect. Dairy is a slaughter industry. veganism is not a restriction.. it is a release ! namaste.
Wonderful ideas! I wish everyone would get blood tests done before and after, so then people understand what going on and working with some kind of health practitioner. Excellent
I ate a vegetarin diet for years until I developed an allegry to dairy, so extreme that It could kill me. I have tried a vegan diet but felt way to run down. I still have a regular Astanga Practice and totally agree with her statement about feeling your diet in your practice. I eat very little meat, but not sure how to eat a vegetarin diet without dairy for my protein. My search continues.
I'm also vegetarian if people live vegetarian then they are try to control their mind and emotions.if you don't mind but you are so pretty. Keep making video astang yog. Thank you for making videos . I'm from India 🇮🇳 I also do yog but you are too awesome 👌 👏
It's my truth too , for almost 30 years out of my 50. Not 1 day of regret. I'm strong, spirited and proud to run my body on my personal hormones only! 🤩👍
so true! if you get to know even just one animal, other than your dog or cat, or whatever companion, they all have feelings and personalities. They feel pain and fear. even if you don't choose to go vegan or vegetarian, at least think about that before you consume anything from an animal.
Your amazing Kino, thank you for this video, I have thought of going vegetarian but I was raised with meat at least once a day as part of my diet... Working with a nutritionist is great advise, idk why I didn't think of that... Thank you, ps I have your Ashtanga book and have been practicing at least 5 days a week at home, sending love and continued success
I have to agree with some of the comments. Going vegan really is the way to go, dairy can make you more sick than meat will. It's been shown in different studies that taking dairy out of cancer patients diets will most of the time result in the cancer going away. Plus the dairy industry is very cruel to their animals for the most part. Eating eggs has always seemed strange to me so I don't have much to say in that regard, I am mostly fruitarian with a decent amount of greens in the mix.
I’m 57 and I’m a vegetarian. I’m a truck driver and look at the cattle all the time. One follows the other and so on. Poor little things don’t know that one day they will be killed to be some ones food. I know god put them on this earth Maby for this purpose. But I solely enjoy of eating things of something not being killed and there’s also tofu as a substitute for this that is very healthy for you. I’m not no little 90 pound weakling either. 250 pounds of veggie muscles.
you don't need to pay for a nutritionist.. I want from reading meat 3 times a day in meals to zero over night.. my body's feeling great and I won't be going back.. you just need to be sure of what your doing and doing it for the rite reasons
wow ---so nicely explained, why to be a vegetarian, vegetables have low consciousness ,of course the meat industry has gone mad, feeding steroid for animals to get fat, fish have high mercury ,chicken are raised in tiny cages all animals raised by factory are fed animal bi product ---everyone knows how the Mad cow disease came about from UK,they were feeding animal fats to cattle, and of course this such diet is not compliable among animals .Anyhow Macgregor ---Excellent presentation.Namste to you and all your fans .I am also your fan, though I do not do Yoga ,I hit gym ,and building muscles ,but my Body tells me Yoga .I trien beding to touch my toes ----I failed bad time ,I could only touch my sheens. One day I will have to join a Yoga class
I was a strict vegetarian for seven years and my body couldn't do it. I truly need meat. I wonder if that would change as I continue improving my body with yoga?
Hey Kino .. what is your thoughts on dairy? Cow's milk is for calves not for humans. I appreciate india being mostly vegetarian country, but there is that other side of the story which no one will tell you or sadly realize that beef is the byproduct of milk industry. So you haven't reduced suffering if you are still eating butter, milk , dairy products. Please ponder. Thanks 🙏
In Poland, middle school students that had vegan meals ended up shorter, after a 10 year study. Vegetables do have protein but they're not A class proteins. Always prefer a steak or an egg over lentils.
My friend once told me, "if I can't kill it myself, why would I eat it?" And that stuck with me. I have tried time and time again to go veg but failed. I think it's a lot of not knowing what to eat instead of meat. Right now, I only eat chicken. I haven't had red meat in almost 2 months. But I don't know how to make the complete jump.
First of all I think you should stop seeing the times you've tried to go veg but haven't been able to stick to it as failures. Just regard them as steps on the way. Negative emotions only lead to frustration, fear a.s.o If you decide to try again with a fear that you maybe won't make it, the stress of fearing the failure will only make it harder. I'd argue fish have feelings of the ocean. The sea is also alive and do you get it, everything that lives in it feels what it feels. But because animals don't have self-reflection, they live directly from feeling, which would be a great argument for that animals aren't conscious.. The most important thing is to avoid milk, eggs, and meat at all costs! Dairy cows are often artificiality inseminated to produce milk, over and over when their udders are dry, and their babies (who would naturally drink the milk) are either taken away to be raised on formula (if they are female) to be inserted back into the dairy industry, or (if they are male) slaughtered and sold as veal. Supporting dairy indirectly supports the veal industry. Egg laying hens are not treated much better. I wonder why Kino does not mention this far more important reason for vegetarianism/vegan lifestyle... the only way to save self AND planet; by helping the planet we can help ourselves...
I have many friends that have this diet but and I respect them it's their opinion but they always say we were made to eat vegetables or something along those line but not every vegetarian say that but I ask myself this "If we were made to eat vegetables then why were we made to eat meat and gain nutrients from it" when we eat meat others say that it is bad you are eating a life but that's the circle of life wolves eat deer so should we make wolves stop eating deer and other animals. I say we were made to eat both meat and plants but that's my opinion and a lot of science goes into both sides but you do you.
Well, I've been a vegetarian for over seven years now. I don't like the taste of meat, or the texture of it, and eating something that used to be something's muscle doesn’t sound good to me either. But I always say that yes, if you do want to eat meat - well, eat it. Your body is precious and wise and if you feel that it needs the meat, give it what it is asking for.

Milk and ghee recommendation in scriptures where done in India thousands of years ago and there the cows are sacred. Hurry up and investigate this , so you start practising real Ahimsa
what about milk extraction, do you know how is done????? If you consume dairy products you are still unaware of the great suffering you are supporting. INVESTIGATE AND SOON
Giovanni Salinas exactly, she didn't acknowledge that vegetarians consume dairy and eggs which obviously come from animals. Dairy is the worst bc of the methods used to keep the cows in constant bondage
yeah I used to eat meat because I thought that I had to in order to survive, what a horrible lie, I feel much better on a vegan diet, I don't like eggs or dairy either, the consumption of eggs interferes with the natural cycle of life & dairy is actually bad for us though many people are not aware of that thanks to propaganda, I think people around the world are finally starting to realise the enormous negative karma that has resulted from the mass murder of cattle, of course some people still stubbornly refuse to admit what is happening in the world, and I totally agree that killing trees still counts as murder but the fruits, vegetables, chic peas, nuts, legumes, lentils, beans are all gifts from the earth, I do also eat seeds but would be better not to because like eating eggs, the consumption of seeds also interferes with the natural cycle of life, seeds should be scattered over the ground, some people say that plants also have feelings, I think plants like everything are receptive and responsive to frequencies, every emotion we project also carries frequencies so we can project hate or love into out surroundings, plants and water will often respond to these frequencies a lot faster than rocks and more solid objects, so yes we can literally cause plants to live or die purely by thinking about how much we love or hate the plants, and that's also true for people, we can literally project depression and anxiety or joy and peace into other people, that's why we need to be careful how much time we spend with negative people
I woke up today and realized this is the day I start my vegetarian journey.
How did it go

I like that part @3:00 about plants have got least part of suffering..low karma effect.Awesome explanation about vegetarian diet..very knowledgeable.

❤🌊🐬🦋Be great to hear added ideas on getting protein & omega 3 when replacing animal based food ,…
Think about dairy and where it comes from.
You think about it.
In Poland, middle school students that had vegan meals ended up shorter, after a 10 year study. Vegetables do have protein but they're not A class proteins. Always prefer a steak or an egg over lentils.

Negative emotions only lead to frustration, fear a.s.o If you decide to try again with a fear that you maybe won't make it, the stress of fearing the failure will only make it harder.
Regarding the actuall diet one of the most commen reasons people stop is that they just remove the protein sources they are used to i.e meats, when what you should do is replace them with other proteins sources like beans lentils, and dairy(if you decide not to go vegan.
Another thing I noticed really helped me was eating fewer meals. Since becoming vegan I've noticed eating once or twice a day is what works best for me. This however depends on your body type and constitution, but it might be wort a try.
I wish you the best of luck. Namaste:-)
Lisa Rahman where do you live? check out meat substitutes. the internet is full the recipes.

I'd argue fish have feelings of the ocean. The sea is also alive and do you get it, everything that lives in it feels what it feels. But because animals don't have self-reflection, they live directly from feeling, which would be a great argument for that animals aren't conscious.. And also one point, coprophilic mushroom ought to be, or at least is very close to fallen fruit.
really interesting. thanks
Ahimsa🙏 you are beautifull from inside out.
When prunning trees or taking Them away , it didnt matter how Well i did my job , i Can prune trees better than Nature , allthough some times there was a depression came after doing the job , the tree didnt feel it , the enviroment was changed , the Wind now blew differently , it was more Spiritual as if that tree or trees were loved so much by ? There came a very strong saddness ,
It cant be explained some people are just more plugged in 🙏
Plants have feelings too is one of the most stupid arguments... first of all, how can somebody care about plants while eating meat? And for 1 kg meat you need like 16 kg of plants.
Very interesting
Its not just meat, there is lots of suffering in the diary industry too....go fruitarian :-)
Very true! Not necessary to be fruitarian, there are merits to macrobiotic diets, starch based diets, etc. Heck, eat french fries and Oreos (vegan in some countries) if you want!
Even if they are not kept in battery cages, "free range/cage free" chickens are often kept in warehouses, wallowing in waste and getting ammonia burns on their legs and bums. When they stop laying eggs (as chickens do not lay eggs forever, just for a few years of their lives), they are also killed and sold for meat.
If you are horrified by these thoughts, that means you are a compassionate human being. Please consider going vegan! It is easy, and often less costly than eating animal products. Pound for pound, veggies, fruits, whole grains, and beans are cheaper than meat, dairy, and eggs! And easy to prepare: you can even be raw vegan if you don't like cooking! Namaste.
or vegan:)
manicmuffin Thanks for caring about the cows and their babies!!
let me throw this out there, Ive been following strict carnivore diet for a while, I just order steaks from my local butcher, get them delivered wrapped up in foil, throw in the freezer then take one out salt and air fry, done. It's perfectly easy to be a fruitarian. I feel lighter and stronger.
Suffering is part of life. But it is each persons choice how much suffering they cause.
But remember most people in the world eat anything they can, because they are starving.
Having the choice in what you eat is a very rare and only applies to the wealthy.

We're omnivores - that's a fact but we are able to choose to not inflict suffering.

If you do specific pranayama and sun gazing then you don't have to eat anything
My brother-in-law who is an omnivore came home one day & suddenly died. Sadly, I think it's because he eats lots of meat & wheat.

plants are living thing not a living being & animals have soul they are living being... that's difference between plant & animal
Kids learn this in Year 2 as 7 yr olds. For goodness sake.
Sometimes i think that i should steal your thoughts.
fym where do chicken breast come from ? of course they kill animals for food who didn't know it came from a death of an animal
eat / drink nothing with a face OR that came from something with a face.. simple.. #VEGAN
time to go vegan !
What is a cow, really???
what about milk extraction, do you know how is done?????
If you consume dairy products you are still unaware of the great suffering you are supporting.
INVESTIGATE AND SOON
then go veganNNN
Giovanni Salinas exactly, she didn't acknowledge that vegetarians consume dairy and eggs which obviously come from animals. Dairy is the worst bc of the methods used to keep the cows in constant bondage
Vegetarianism is half way there though, youre still eating alot less animal products. ☺
no death just cow snuff porn
yeah I used to eat meat because I thought that I had to in order to survive, what a horrible lie, I feel much better on a vegan diet, I don't like eggs or dairy either, the consumption of eggs interferes with the natural cycle of life & dairy is actually bad for us though many people are not aware of that thanks to propaganda, I think people around the world are finally starting to realise the enormous negative karma that has resulted from the mass murder of cattle, of course some people still stubbornly refuse to admit what is happening in the world, and I totally agree that killing trees still counts as murder but the fruits, vegetables, chic peas, nuts, legumes, lentils, beans are all gifts from the earth, I do also eat seeds but would be better not to because like eating eggs, the consumption of seeds also interferes with the natural cycle of life, seeds should be scattered over the ground, some people say that plants also have feelings, I think plants like everything are receptive and responsive to frequencies, every emotion we project also carries frequencies so we can project hate or love into out surroundings, plants and water will often respond to these frequencies a lot faster than rocks and more solid objects, so yes we can literally cause plants to live or die purely by thinking about how much we love or hate the plants, and that's also true for people, we can literally project depression and anxiety or joy and peace into other people, that's why we need to be careful how much time we spend with negative people
what is a TUUUURKEY
Meat now comes from a laboratory
Go Vegan better
