    • @LeilaGharani

      You're welcome Why? is it because of cell referencing? it's just a one time task though when the chart is setup for the first time and it will dynamically update when the values change...

      If it's daily report, it's worth to take that one-time effort.
      However, In case of Adhoc reports , There might be some situations where I have to create and send reports as soon as possible.
      I might say it's cumbersome task rather than difficult.

      Start with a basic Excel course - it's important to know the fundamentals before jumping in to advanced. Aim to do the Microsoft certification - basic and Excel expert - that makes you learn different aspects of the program. Once you feel comfortable in Excel, go to forums and try to answer people's questions. Most of what I learnt was trying to answer other people's questions..... hope that helps.

    Great video. From what I hear, stacked columns and pie charts should be avoided as best as possible. A bar chart in descending order by continent for each year would paint a better picture IMHO.

    • @LeilaGharani
      @LeilaGharani  7 лет назад

      Agree. Sorted bar chart is always a good method - in case anyone looks for that video, here is the link: ruclips.net/video/xO_lCIAlnV0/видео.html - although I still find stacked columns much easier to read than a pie chart - because the shapes of the stacks are easier to compare than the slices in the pie....

    • @LeilaGharani
      @LeilaGharani  7 лет назад

      You're welcome Pham. If I understand your question right, to get it the other way round, you just how to put the percentages below the values in the data preparation table.

    • @phamhoangtien
      @phamhoangtien 7 лет назад

      Leila Gharani Yeah, i got it. This will be done with the third table combining % and value by formula. With the 1st way, when we choose data label and show "value from cell" (tick to Value button also), can we put the % after the Value?

    Hi Leila. i have a question regarding the chart command. I am trying to execute a search splunk command that shows both the count and percentage of the count in one chart command: so here is an example of splunk command that currently only shows the count and the total count: source="xyz" http_status_code | chart count by path_template, http_status_code | addtotals col=t This command shows each count of the http_status_code (y axis) and the path_template (x axis) and showing the total of the counts of all the http_status_code. Now i need to add the percentage (count/total) of each count when i know the number of counts. e.g. 40 (5%) or something like that. How would i do that using chart? Thanks!

    The last part of the video where you say use the Y Axis to deduce the value is a little too confusing at times so why don’t we create a VBA code and give the control to the user to se the values or values as percentages through the code. Just a thought.

    • @LeilaGharani

    I have a diff query. Can you help, please? I need to show a) 50% only patients achieved a response with treatment. 70% of this 50% patients achieved this response twice b) 32% patients achieved a response with placebo. 60% of this 32% patients achieved this response twice. So I need a 50% bar (not 100%) while showing 70% of that bar colored. I need second bar of 32% with 60% colored inside.

    Hey Leila, I'm trying to add percentage differences like you've shown in the video. However, I'm using a column chart and not a stacked chart and which has two series of data . I've tried adding a new series and then removing the colour and the column line, so the new series sits behind the column I want to show, but for some reason the new data series is not hiding behind the first series. No matter how much overlap I apply, the new series sits between the two columns. Obviously, I want to use the third series to add the % data labels. Do you have any tutorials which can help me resolve this issue? Hope you can help. Thanks.

    • @LeilaGharani
      @LeilaGharani  7 лет назад

      Hi Neil - change the chart type of the last series (the one with percentages) to a line series. Make the line then invisible and activate the data labels - you can then point to the percentages (if you have excel 2013 & above) or use a formula to reference the percentages... hope that helps...

    • @BS2Dos
      @BS2Dos 7 лет назад

      It does. Thanks, Leila. As an alternative, I saw another youtube video which said you can create a filler column of data with say, +10% of the source data value and then create a stacked chart. Then hide the 10% section and add the labels from there. Anyhow, I'll try your suggestion. Thanks again.

    I'm sorry, but this is not what the issue is: I don't want to create percentages as labels, but simply show percentages from the values in the chart. For instance, The label shows the value and below it the percentage. That's the real questions.
