Thank you for sharing your experience. Having done many miles solo overlanding and sailing I have learned to be self reliant and found Garmin Explorer with the remote assist/rescue/recovery insurance with text communication and checking in. Even a thorough pre-trip maintenance check will not prevent a break down on the trail and it’s impossible to carry replacement spare parts for the 1 million things that could break. The key as you already know because you demonstrated it is attitude, stay calm and Chive on. Go alone (don’t live through other peoples fears)help anyone who needs it and bask in the sounds of nature by the fire with you partner because between 0 - 100, 2 is the only even primary number. First time in Botswana and got stuck? What an experience, come back some other time with a healthier vehicle. Next tim eplease try to come with friends with more vehicles. Some places are very remote with lots of dangerous animals.
