It will never cease to amaze me how lenient sentences are for this type of crime. Drinking and driving is a CHOICE. Killing someone as a drunk driver should be an automatic death penalty or life in prison, no exceptions. The laws for these cases are a complete disgrace.
Yep somehow a jury of 12 citizens ruin this because at least 1 knows someone who drinks and drives and clouds their judgement. The justice system needs to find a balance where evidence, clear cut crime committed, they don't need a jury. Just a sentencing date. We can put together a group of people who can bring the charges to this guy without ever giving him a plea deal. I don't understand why we still go off 12 random people's opinions of life and death
Death penalty is a little harsh wouldn't you say? I get it he got behind the wheel drunk and he killed a innocent woman and her dog and deserves to rot in prison for the rest of his life. But he isn't a monster like some people. We have murderers out there who murder woman and young children and are the worst of the worst. Those are the type of people who deserve the harshest punishment imaginable. Ruggs made a terrible decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive well over 150mph and killed someone. I am sure he didn't wake up that day and said I am gonna take my expensive car and slam it into a woman and her dog just for the fun of it. I agree 3-10 years is a absolute joke! and likely his NFL status saved him from getting what he truly deserves. But he isn't a psychopath who goes around killing people with no remorse. Capitol punishment should be reserved for people who are truly evil. Ruggs in my opinion is not a evil human being. He simply made a bad choice that day which resulted in Tina and Max losing their lives. I hope some day we will pass a law that if you chose to get behind the vehicle drunk and it results in death it should be a automatic life sentence. There should be no minimum sentence about it! If your irresponsible actions causes a death because you chose to get behind the wheel drunk then you should pay with your life behind bars. A life for a life.

Not even because he was drunk…but because the Brain naturally represses the thoughts of Traumatic experiences and times of trouble… My Dad was in the VietNam war and fought hand-to-hand with a Member of the VC and apparently he ended up beating him to the ground and then sticking a Bowie knife into his neck, killing him Its something he NEVER talks about and I actually heard the story from my Uncle and a buddy he served with that was there….but When I asked him about it, he said “People told me what happened after the fact but honestly I can’t remember it….it may have happened but IDK”….His brain has repressed the memory completely…. He ended up remembering it vividly one day (after 45 years) he said he saw it in a dream and it came back to him…and he Balled his eyes out crying, he was so ashamed that he killed that man. But the Mind is weird in that way. it hides things from you…so you can Cope and Move on…. But yeah, The fact that this guy will see a lengthy amount of legal trouble from this means he is probably Less likely to forget it entirely.

His lawyers were doing their job, and as a result, he’s gonna walk free in a few years on good behavior, while her family continues to live with the thought of their daughter burning inside of that car. In situations like these, the judicial system has failed. (Up to) 10 years isn’t enough.

Poor women and dog my heart goes out to the family I hope someone who feels the way I do seeks vigilante justice by taking his life so coldly as he did those 2 lives and as for the officers talking about the aftermath you disgust me how little you value the deceased
If that was my daughter or sister that DUI raider driver would not want to leave prison
Why wouldn't he not want to leave prison? You would assault him? Someone with not only a lot of money and connections but a freak physical athlete? You're not going to be able physically harm him so what? You would risk ruining your life for assault and battery and go to prison yourself for a decade or so?
Ending the life of an innocent girl because of your selfish actions deserves worse than 3 years. He will pay for that life.
@@pauldlubaciv2867 I understand that but you wrote "if that was my daughter etc etc that he would not want to leave prison". So what are you implying or are you jut speaking out of emotions and pretentious talk. Because in reality, i don't see not 1 reason why he wouldn't want to leave prison.
I just hope she and her dog didn’t endure the pain of that fire 😭😭😭😭 this was beyond sad. Complete tears all over again. This was so tragic
The smoke inhalation likely killed them pretty quickly. Hopefully they didn't feel any pain at all but if they did it wasn't for long. This is so sad
Security guard that was nearby said he heard them screaming inside the car. He attempted to get to them, but the fire was too strong.
She unfortunately suffered, along with her dog. The silver lining is that she’s now far removed from our cruel reality that is life.

That poor woman and her dog. Such a shame. Had me tear up. I hope there is something after this life and wish she is with whatever family and her poor pup in heaven. Just so sad.
Why did he deserve to survive but not this innocent woman and dog?? He is on borrowed time…
I believe he sign a contract and, he's going to play until it's over and then he's going to play in the worst place and he's going to cry for help no help will answer. His troubles are just getting started. You might even feel sorry for him.
That 3-10 years should be 20+ years. Minimum. Bare minimum.
That's not how the judicial system operates
life.. should serve life
I remember this case. There were multiple witnesses that said, before the car caught on fire. They could hear the woman screaming for help in the car. Yet no one helped. Then when it caught fire and it's quickly spread through the car. They could hear her screaming in agony.
They reported that 2 witnesses tried to get her they couldn't pull her out & it went up in flames during their attempt
And could hear the dog crying as it died in flames
Boner material
This is absolutely horrible; and as a DUI Instructor I show this video to my participants.
To be burned alive with her dog it's just heart breaking
