For some viewers, yeah, they may only be interested in a very narrow product subject. But for others, including myself, the hook was the information, the presentation, the honest opinions, and also some very interesting entertainment, in other words, it was the presenter, the vlogger, yes you Sir, that's who got my attention, support, and eventually and thankfully, a friendship. 👊😁👍

I'm in, for the hat and the mullet, haven't had a mullet since the 90's. There are pictures somewhere LOL. I have definitely been enjoying your channel for quite a while now. It was great seeing Sean reach a thousand subscribers, I look for him to keep growing. As for shorts content I have some but few and far between...but what do I know in 22 months of doing content I have just under 300 subscribers.

Your channel a an eclectic, personal feel that I have always found attractive. Gaining subs and growing a channel is a mystery to me. How and why various videos perform well or get subs is something I cannot predict. So like you, I just do what feels right to me and hope for the best. I like shorts but man they are hard to make. At least for me. Even with the dogs. But my most successful video is a short with over 2 million views. Now to get another one like that I think I need to film running into a deer or bear...
You may have a broad channel, but those that watch the majority of your videos... they're here for your personality. You may think it's not working, but it IS. Look at the stats, they bear it out. Keep at it! :D
Many videos I make get terrible views. So, the jury is still out on that. If something isn't working, I have to change it up. YT is a moving target every day.

You're right though, it's a moving target... and the only way up is through. Find what works, grab hold, and go for the ride :D Or, just do what's fun and take the engagement as the win, like I do :D

Regarding your shorts inquiry .For what its worth I can tell you that beginning in Jan of 2024 I committed to creating one short per week just to see how it effects the channel. Long form videos roughly one per month. Some say shorts will kill a longform channels overall growth because they are two different audiences. I dont know and dont really care cause Im just doing this stuff for a laugh so it doesn't matter. But based on the numbers Im seeing so far there is definitely dayly subscriber growth . Im not sure how many check out the long form vids .Maybe somewhere in the analytics I could figure it out but what ever ...Id rather spend the time just making more vids and having fun .Hope this info helps .I know you'd certainly do well in the shorts world . I have always enjoyed your content regardless of its theme. You can help it if the theme isn’t always what I want to hear but the story and how you deliver it is entertaining and interesting plus I typically learn something I didn’t know before. Where were you when I needed you for calculus in college?
I enjoy making shorts. But I don't go out riding and say "I think I'll record a shorts today"... When I'm reviewing recorded footage, I have a pretty good idea if something will make a good shorts. I don't watch TikTok so I can't really say if my videos are like that or not. Shorts bring new viewers to your channel. They have a purpose 🤷♀️ To me, they are fun.
My honest opinion about YT shorts is that too many people are looking for fast progress with sub counts. At the end of the day a channel’s sub count does not define a successful channel, and often when channels do achieve significant increases it doesn’t necessarily equate to more views. Eric, you say that your channel has not achieved what you believe it should have, and you’re correct, however there is far more enjoyment and value on offer watching your content when compared to channels who are obviously chasing adoration and success. Stay true my friend. ✌️

I'm with you on shorts... I'm not a fan. Occasionally I'll watch them, but I'm not going out of my way to watch or make them. While they may bring in a bunch of new subs, the jury is still out on whether or not they funnel to your long-form content.
Shorts are a funny thing for me. I don’t mind watching them, but I don’t like creating them. I understand they could help my channel, but I’m of the opinion that most people that watch the shirts, aren’t interested in my long form content. Way off base? Probably, but it’s just my way of thinking about it.
lol. I think of deleting my channel all the time. I've been stuck on 1.56 thousand subs for the last year 1/2. I used to get a few hundred views each vid when the whole "support each other" fad was alive a few years ago... currently I'm lucky to get a hundred. Now I just upload sporadically every month or so. This isn't about what content you're covering cause I don't ride Harleys but still watch your videos. I stumbled across your channel when looking for some videos about the bike I'm riding. I have more than one channel I watch and it's all about content much rather watch these channels than TV. So with that said keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.

I use Instagram and TikTok to try and drive viewers to my RUclips channel. I cut down my long videos and make them into short reels for those two other platforms. But not a big fan of just doing RUclips shorts 🤷🏻♂️
These days there’s really only 2 ways for a motorcycle channel to become popular…. 1) do constant motorcycle reviews. 2) be a girl. When I saw the wig I thought you were going for #2 😂.

I enjoy making shorts. But I don't go out riding and say "I think I'll record a shorts today"... When I'm reviewing recorded footage, I have a pretty good idea if something will make a good shorts. I don't watch TikTok so I can't really say if my videos are like that or not. Shorts bring new viewers to your channel. They have a purpose 🤷♀️ To me, they are fun.

My honest opinion about YT shorts is that too many people are looking for fast progress with sub counts.
At the end of the day a channel’s sub count does not define a successful channel, and often when channels do achieve significant increases it doesn’t necessarily equate to more views.
Eric, you say that your channel has not achieved what you believe it should have, and you’re correct, however there is far more enjoyment and value on offer watching your content when compared to channels who are obviously chasing adoration and success.

I'm with you on shorts... I'm not a fan. Occasionally I'll watch them, but I'm not going out of my way to watch or make them. While they may bring in a bunch of new subs, the jury is still out on whether or not they funnel to your long-form content.

Shorts are a funny thing for me. I don’t mind watching them, but I don’t like creating them. I understand they could help my channel, but I’m of the opinion that most people that watch the shirts, aren’t interested in my long form content. Way off base? Probably, but it’s just my way of thinking about it.

lol. I think of deleting my channel all the time. I've been stuck on 1.56 thousand subs for the last year 1/2. I used to get a few hundred views each vid when the whole "support each other" fad was alive a few years ago... currently I'm lucky to get a hundred. Now I just upload sporadically every month or so. That being said, I do like learning about Harleys and "all things on 2 and 3 wheels"... Hell, I even liked checking out your new Bronco... This isn't about what content you're covering cause I don't ride Harleys but still watch your videos. I stumbled across your channel when looking for some videos about the bike I'm riding. I have more than one channel I watch and it's all about content much rather watch these channels than TV. So with that said keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.

I use Instagram and TikTok to try and drive viewers to my RUclips channel. I cut down my long videos and make them into short reels for those two other platforms. But not a big fan of just doing RUclips shorts 🤷🏻♂️
