    Going it alone the first time is scary. You guys did great. After a while you will not want to trust line handling to strangers, even dock hands. While many dock hands are good at their job, some are completely clueless and can turn a good docking into a nightmare in seconds. I always prefer my own crew for line handling. Anyway, keep practicing and keep producing videos.

    Every time you tie up to or exit a marina slip it will get easier and easier, although there will always be situations that get scrambled.
    Love the engine room -- amazing space and accessibility. You will bless that space over and over. Good video, enjoyed it.

    Loving your experiences and following along. Your conversation on the flybridge mirrors what we're going through because a month ago we took delivery of our new Airstream travel trailer & F250 truck. Just finished our third trip of hitching and unhitching, same as moving marinas. Y'all and us are at the same point of the learning/fear/anxiety/excitement curve. Good luck.

    Suggest all wear PFD’s. Also wireless headsets are great.

    One piece of advice is to invest in a wireless radio headsets so you both can communicate with each other without having to yell or even see each other.

    There is an App that has marina dock layouts. I forget the app but some of the other boaters should know the name, it will make it easier and less stressful to know where you are going.

    Time to start chilling a little. Not every maneuver it everything that happens on a boat is a Titanic moment.
    A few hours with an experienced captain or signing up with trawler classes will be beneficial for anyone with a boat that size. They will teach you how to dock, cast off probably using a single-engine trawler/boat and with the added benefit of two engines, bow thrusters docking and maneuvering a large boat in high winds, currents etc. will become a non-event...or, you can continue to have anxiety attacks and worse.

    • @TheBoomershines
      @TheBoomershines  2 года назад +2

      We actually have a few years of experience on a 44' boat. We went to the Chapman School of Seamanship prior to running that boat. We highly recommend it to anyone learning the ropes. This is a much larger boat and just takes some time to get used to. This was only our third time moving this boat and our first without extra hands. It just takes me some time to get confident with a new boat.

    Well, maybe next time mount a camera somewhere with a good wide view over looking the side of the boat that you're docking on and just leave it on while you've docking.
    How's that saying go ? If there ain't no video it didn't happen.

    Mark and Bonnie (and kids), I hope you never change the way you're doing YOUR channel. Don't try to please every viewer. It won't work. I also follow the Wynn's and what makes it fun is seeing them being themselves. I like that you suggested one of the persons commenting on what you are including in the videos to check out "What Yacht To Do". They mike like that site better. Rev and Sam have made it a business and you can tell it's not as enjoyable. So, bottom line, don't change. It looks as if you're having fun learning the location of where switches are and what the boat has to offer. I'm glad you're including the children in the everyday operation of SeaSHINE. One day you'll be able to sit back while they operate the boat. (Well, as much as possible) Ha Ha!) I look forward to you sharing this journey with us. Semper Fi!

    I know exactly what Marc meant about “baby steps”. I’m doing the same thing on mine. But I’m beginning to suspect that I may have bitten off more than I can chew by trying to solo a 58 footer. But the remote stations on the rear of the flybridge and the aft deck really help, especially the “position hood” option.

    When I'm going to a marina I don't know I always look at their website for a dock layout. I also look at Google earth. I take a screen grab on my phone so it's always ready. Most guidebooks also have the marina layouts. I also have port and starboard cameras and a stern camera so I never have to leave the helm to see where I'm at. On Google earth I always use the measure tool and make sure I know how wide the fairways are ahead of time. Have all your lines and fenders ready before you enter the marina...this is all basic stuff but I see so many boats having a Rodeo once they are in the marina..... Have fun. With twin engines and bow and stern thrusters your boat will be easy to handle once you get some time built up.😎

    • @TheBoomershines
      @TheBoomershines  2 года назад

      These are all great tips and ones that we do. I don't under why all marinas don't post a map/layout on their website. What guidebooks do you have with marina layouts? We are using waterway guide and it does not have layouts. Knowing the layout is a big help in lowering my docking anxiety.
