Love these BatReps for Old World! I love getting insights into the tournament scene, even if its not a local one. Just want to point two things out as a Beastmen player: 1) Ruby Ring of Ruin doesn't combo with Hagtree Fetish because Hagtree Fetish doesn't work with Bound Spells, unfortunately, and 2) Passing Primal Fury (even on doubles) doesn't give "Hatred," it lets you re-roll natural 1s. Hatred lets you re-roll any failed To Hit rolls. Maybe it was just the wording you used when talking about the Primal Fury rolls, but it definitely does not give Hatred
@@NeroRedfield what does use their points back to you mean? The point is that they typically won't achieve anything meaningful, while being expensive fragile and self killing. They're bad.
Congrats on the win. I was hoping to make this event with my own beastmen but couldn't get time off work. We have similarities in our lists and heartily recommend you find the extra points to upgrade the cygor to another gorgon. Beastmen are fine. They're good but they have a lot of weaknesses and many of their strengths are conditional to passing tests. Gunlines make mincemeat out of them and if you're facing an alpha list that actually gets to do it's thing it'll ride right through you. We have a lot of strength in diversity and small cheap units to help deliver our powerful ones. Personally enjoying running 3 dragon ogres individually as Shartaks alongside 3 tuskgor chariots. Lots of very interesting builds and great as a modelling project. So happy beastmen are competitive at last.
Rolling doubles on Primal Fury and procting Blood rage only gives you frenzy and relloing 1's, not full hatred rerolls. If it gave you full hatred, ooo baby that'd be spicy!
25:10 With you shit talking Clanrats, I would like to just remind you that they are both cheaper AND better than State Troops. They have the same stat line, but better initiative, movement and the horde rule, giving them more static combat res, which is the only way both of them have to win any combats any way. Sure, they have worse Ld, but with the warband rule and a Clawleader actually giving them a Ld upgrade, they end up having better Ld as well! What about Detachments you say? What about Weapon teams I say. All of this and they are still 1 point cheaper. State troops really are the bottom of the barrel, not just in the Empire list but in the entire game. Yes, I am a salty Empire player, how could you tell?
Honestly sounds like Gore units are wayyyy too strong for the points they cost compared to infantry units from other armies. Should be at least 2-3pts more per model.
Well done dude! What do you think you'll take to your first ever SQUARE BASED event next weekend? Also, I second meeting engagement being utter Garbo- especially on small boards!
Your description of the third game scenario is pretty much why I don't want to play Necromunda. "Oh, your 12 guys are going to fight my 3 guys, and 1 guy will show up on turn 2? Why bother putting down any terrain and showing up? They are anti-game rules.
I think If you get charged by a unit with ‘first charge’ (like Bret knights) the unit gets disrupted and you lose the bonuses to leadership from warband because you no longer claim a rank bonus. Another reason why infantry is pretty boned in this edition. Especially if the unit also causes terror and or debuffs your Ld. Also why I rate stubborn on beasts because you can eat that charge and not flee.
I think for the Meeting Engagement scenario it would be more interesting and balanced if each player selected one unit and there was a single roll for both. There could be some caveat that the rolls are descending by points cost. But then atleast there is some level of fairness in the units that don't show up.
I've been of the opinion Beastmen are overpowered since day 1, I have better than a 90% winrate with them currently, even counting games I intentionally try bad units, like the Cygor. If you really want to push them, don't bother with bestigor and take smaller skirmish units of Gor, always take 3 single Razorgors. I really like a unit of 7-8 harpies, you can force really long flees off the back of the table by positioning them in a line behind an infantry block. Tuskgor chariots and the Shaggoth are also excellent.
That last mission really seemed to hurt the Bretonnian player. I'm not sure, but I don’t think units that are Giving Ground can go off the board. Will need to check the rules, but I don’t think it is a flee. Again, I could be wrong.
I don't think Beastmen are OP... I think you certainly played well. But also has some good luck too... Which helps... Personally, I think Vampire Counts are a bit OP, just because of how Invocation of Nehek works right now... Bringing back so many black knights and blood knights is "too beaucoup", in my opinion...
What are you basing this on? Every single statistic points to them being the worst army in the game. They have no swiftstride, bad infantry, overcosted ranged attacks, their monsters aren't great.
@@ThePaintedHope he's just objectively wrong. Our wizards are over very costed, we have crushing limitations on unit selection, the over coated ranged options aren't even good. The best things in our book would be bad-meh in other books. What's crazy though is thinking that he knows better than every die hard Skaven player and everyone picking them up for the challenge, who are on average still only winning 0 to 1 game in a tournament, bectthe army is in such bad shape 🤷
@@ThePaintedHope What statistic, OMG? Statistically, players make the same mistakes over and over again. I see it all the time. You prove this yourself by whining about overcosted ranged attacks. 10 Jezzails, 3x Ratling guns and some Dragon Ogres sniffing the flowers. Bad infantry? And that's why I'll be flocking with weak Clanrats to the main fight? What about using them as bait, as a blocker, etc.? Statistically, my Plague Monks with Plague Priest thrashed units like Chaos Warriors. Statistically, my overpriced ranged attacks were clearing entire Bretonnian cavalry darts. What on earth do you want to deal with here? Statistically, no army is the weakest if you think a little before you write an army list. But that would be a long debate.
Half of the Empire roster is either overpriced or just a bit rubbish: State Troops, Pistoleers, Warrior Priests, Witch Hunters, Free Company. The Regiment & Detachment rules are nowhere near as good as they were in old Warhammer too. Empire needs a re-design.Not as badly as Skaven though.... wow.
That first opponent seems like a really cool guy 😎
Beautiful Skaven army! 😀
@@HolleradoOperaHouse thanks matey!
Yes! welcome to the herd!
Beastmen have always been my number 1 fantasy army. always love seeing folks enjoying them just as much
Is it weird that being called one of MG's "little ungors" made me smille?

@CelticFireGaming Also, if Roll a double, you gain frenzy
I'm surprised they let you play models without the correct base sizes on the field.
i thought it was aos for a second
Skaven got done so dirty in the old world. They have lost so many cool units
But the players themselves, who completely ignore firepower or magic power, have a lot to do with it. No Jezzails? Ok, you deserved to lose.
@@NeroRedfieldjezzails while cool are sooooooo bad for their points cost
@@That_Rat_Bastrd So what? They can use their points back to you, but players must not put 3 of them there and think that they can do something.
@@NeroRedfield what does use their points back to you mean?

@@That_Rat_Bastrd Of course, they typically won't achieve anything meaningful. E.g. killing the dragon is completely irrelevant after all. Good.
Just admit that Chaos is way easier to play than Empire

Dogs of war and wood elves are my two favourite armies to see

Good to see that people still play legacy armies competatively.
Tomb scorpion triple 6 was epic!
PS remember that failed panic checks only cause that unit to fall back in good order if that unit is still above 50%
14:50 Stone throwers / Cygors only has multiple wounds on the center hole.
Best men are actually very strong, almost everything is covered with them (shooting not included)
Shooting actually included considering they are the best magic missile users.
I have out shot wood elves with ungor rocking a pelt of midnight and a vitriolic BSB in skirmish formation😂
for beastmen, you can look at all the combos you can do with 'hand weapon' a beast man with just a hatchet can be utterly terrifying.
Who needs math-hammer when you are born lucky in dice rolls.
More glorious tournament content! Thanks.
Didn't Beastmen have a 60-something win rate in the most recent tournament figures? Seems like they could do with a bit of balancing on certain rules.
Mordian, I'm curious did the ungor bows cause a single wound the entire tournament?
Congrats! Good report but please keep it going with the empire and experiment with other lists, Altdorf is counting on you!
Good paint job and show my dude.
Im currently restoring my old beastmen, but cheap Dark alliance minotaurs to fill my gor units heheh to compensate for those I lost since I was a kid.
Brayherd baby, WOOO!
Congrats!
That Bretonnian match is very disappointing. Coming to a battle with only half your army would be so disheartening, especially in a tournament.

Ungor??? I'm no such thing. I'm the GOAT!
How did you paint your beastmen? Especially the big guys. Looks like a nice, simple, but effective paint scheme.

Bit confused about the lack of movement trays for your units and unpainted minis from opponents
You don't get "Hatred" when rolling double number on primal fury test, are you serious ? Easy to win with errors like that. You "only" get frenzy.

whats with that what?
Beastmen only exist in the lore for other factions to beat them up
