Awesome video!! Nice to see you enjoyed our barn, definitely one of the best atmospheres in the Keisha and loudest during the Whiteout!!! Best team in the league baby, GOOO JETS GOOO!!! ✈️✈️✈️
I'm watched this from Thailand. Although we moved to Winnipeg from S. Ontario when I was 16 in 1978 It wasn't long before the JETS where gone to AZ. I was A Canadians fan then anyway but when they returned to Winnipeg I switched to being a JETS fan believing Manitoba was where I planned on living for the rest my life, I might as well pull for the home team. Now I'm semi-retired living MB Winters in Thailand. It's exactly where the weather suits my clothes. Good video, thanks for sharing. GO JETS GO!
Before or after the game I recommend you check out the Elephant Castle: Restaurant and Pub. It's located one block south of the arena on Hargrave Street inside the Delta Hotel. Great food and atmosphere. Visit The Forks during your stay, too. It has several shops and places to eat-plus the skating trail on the river. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a must see, as well. That's also located at The Forks.
I hear there are boats you can take around the water ways. You can go from Lake Winnipeg to Winnipeg river to Lake of Woods to Pearl River to Lake Superior then out to oceans. Or you can head west on another river
Unreal restaurant scene. Deer and almond, Nola, sous sol just to name a few. Also you gotta try a fat boy, Winnipegs signature burger. VJ’s or Mrs. Mikes are the best. The times changed is one of the best country bars in the country, check it out. Thermea for an awesome spa experience. World renowned Royal Winnipeg ballet. Winnipeg is awesome
I Remember going to the old Barn quite regularly and watching the Jets when you could snag tickets from 7-11 for 7 bucks. Lot of good memories from the WHA also . Even though I saw a ton, that Building really sucked for concerts.
Can we talk about Hellys year he’s having. We should all take this in because we’re watching a future hall of fame goaltender in his prime! Here in Winnipeg!!
Hey Trav I hope all is well with you and your family. I am a long time fan following you for probably over 5 years now. You are a very good goalie. I was wondering why not just move into your parents house for a little bit and join a team in your home town? Your content back when you had the trevor kidd pads playing for some college or school talking crap and having fun was amazing. You were not pro or getting paid to play hockey you just played because you honestly loved it. You could join a barn league and compete for a championship in your home town. if you look at other you tube goalies they are just playing in some no name league and are still getting plenty of views because goaltending action is awesome no matter the league. Take "the puck stops here" channel or mike the goalie for example they are not pro but their goaltending content is great. You could even do youtube coaching like your old trainer did.
I wouldn't be so crass to say yinz guys handled those wieners like pros...I'd never do that (cough). Hope you and Dave doing great Trav!! Miss you with the Distillers! Last week my son saw 80 shots against Buffalo...80! I heard him yelling at his team from the locker room..*sigh* Be safe and keep up the great work!
The Jets ownership has made a number of poor or at least questionable choices over the last several years that have put off season ticket holders and others. That along with a low dollar and the other repercussions of Trudeau and Covid and a poor gameday experience especially compared to other teams turned away a lot of people. The gameday experience has turned around this year so they're putting some effort, and they are playing very well which is also a positive. So things will probably improve. I'm sure a lot of old timers hate the mandatory ticketless entry, forcing people to use phones, that keeps out the luddites and technically incapable. Not being able to go in and out during intermissions was one of the earliest things that pissed people off but it's the most understandable. The sales department also grew complacent, corporate ticket sales I believe were low compared to people sharing season tickets. There is also the changing demographics of the city population, though the Winnipeg Jets are making efforts with theme nights.. some more cringe than others.
My prediction is the Jets organization will be in Houston in few short years. Especially how much NHL teams can sell for today and Winnipeg is just to small market and with smallest capacity arena they still have a hard time selling out even this year with one of top NHL teams in league. They average 14,000 a game in an arena just seats 15,200 capacity. With the salary cap announced going way up in next three years and weak Canadian currency the Jets are going to keep struggling financially. Especially wait until they have a team that isn’t very good and average less in attendance.
I'll take that action on your ill informed prediction for a few reasons. 1) What are the average ticket prices? By bring up attendance you assume that all ticket prices are the same. Average ticket prices in Anaheim are $180. Where as Winnipeg's is $330. Anaheim attendance is a little better than Winnipeg's at 15,621. So gate receipts from an Anaheim game is $180 x 15,621 or just over $2.8M. On the other hand Winnipeg's gate receipts are 14,156 x $330 or just over $4.6M. Granted in that is in Canadian $ as opposed to American $. So when you convert it American $ that works out to just under $3.3. So tell me, would you like to have the $2.8M pulled in by Anaheim or the $3.3M pulled in by Winnipeg. Anaheim is one example, I could easily point out 6 other examples. 2) True North (owners of the Jets) have too much invested in downtown Winnipeg. Not only the arena where the Jets play but also hotel and office buildings. 3) Mark Chipman, who is the driving force behind True North, made it his life mission to bring an NHL team back to Winnipeg. It is not a business decision for him, it's a love affair. The team is not going anywhere while is he alive.
It is pretty annoying that this tired old trope still exists. They have been selling out. Not every game, but they are around 94% attendance. Their lowest was round 84%. And then I get to watch games from San Jose where half the damned seats are empty. True North owns the building, the concessions. The parking. The club accross the street. The new office tower and hotel that are attached, and they just partnered with a local Native band to redevelop the mall complex accross Portage Ave. Even if they were only breaking even on ticket sales ( which they most certainly making money ) they own it all. The Canada Life Center is busy. Every AHL Moose game (they own the team) every concert, every monster truck every Disney on ice. They make money. The Jets are only a part of it. They aren't going anywhere. The real reason ticket sales are slower than other years is the same reason people are having a problem paying rent and the grocery bill. Times are tough! Luxuries are the first casualty. It isn't for lack of love of the team.
My boyfriend suggested we try a new sex toy. It ended with us reading the instruction manual like it was a complicated piece of IKEA furniture. Assembly required, indeed🍓

0:13 The 4 teams actually made the jump to the NHL in 1979, not 1974.
Good choice. The upper decks are the best. Welcome to Winnipeg
great to see dave hanging out with trav
One of the better atmospheres in the NHL, that's for sure.
Just a shame the downtown area is such a slum
@@jonfox4022 Yea and the downtown of Detroit and Chicago are lights out dude.

Going to Winnipeg for the first time next month… going to a jets game .. where else should I visit in Winnipeg

With Carey Price, Helly is the best goalie in 2010 era.
Oh hey, no way! I was at this game with my unfortunate Canucks fan brother! Still pissed at Stanley for costing Helle the shutout
I'm surprised you didn't get a side cup of gravy to go with that Jet Dog. This is, of course, the standard side-drink that usually goes with.
The Minnesota Moose played in the IHL.
Your buddy looks like EK 65 ! I’m just imagining you scraping with Bucky ! Lol
How much of the play do you watch compared to watching the goalies looking for more pointers
Honestly dude I spend most of the time watching goalies for details. I rarely watch the actual game!
1-“How about you take this and we call it even”(slides $1)
2-“I don't want your bride.”
1-“I’ll give you a five to want it.”
Was working and saw you that game but it was too busy to meet you 2

Mark Chipman is NOT the owner. David Thompson is the owner.
Someone with such fame as you in winnipeg cluldnt get VIP or better seats... wow i really thought you were more famous... 300 level... jeezzz
Trav is in now way, shape or form famous. He’s a niche RUclipsr, covering a niche position, in a niche sport.
Announcing to the world you went to a ballgame. RUclips has fundamentally changed society.

What a dumb opinion. The Jets make way more money than all the southern teams combined
Most games the Sharks can barely get 12000 people to show up to a 17000 seat stadium yet nobody says they will relocate
Ownership just invested $600M more to the mall beside the arena building a mixed used mall and a residential commercial hi rise.
My boyfriend suggested we try a new sex toy. It ended with us reading the instruction manual like it was a complicated piece of IKEA furniture. Assembly required, indeed🍓
What the freak does this have to do with Jets / Winnipeg? 🤔
