Cleveland, those wasp be around my house the same way. I use that same spray to get up to my 2nd floor. Sometimes the nest falls down with them, other times, I have to get the broom to get them off of my porch. They build new nest the next season. This year, I'm seeing carpenter bees. I have the stones on the front too. Birds started perching on them last year. I think all this has to do with climate change. Had the home built 9 years ago and this stuff just started a couple of years ago.
