- Welcome to this very powerful and practical teaching of HOW TO SPEAK IN TONGUES - a teaching where we will end up praying for and with all of you out there. In this very practical teaching, we're going to look very briefly at the four different kinds of tongues, and the five different things tongues does in your life.

The enemy will lie to you by saying that you are not doing it correctly. Don't listen to his lies. Years ago the way I got definite confirmation was that I fell very ill and I was not conscious of my environment nor could I communicate yet I was awake. I was told afterwards that in the Doctor's waiting room that I was speaking in tongues (which I don't remember at all). That made me realize how amazing the Holy Spirit is, because he took over on my behalf and helped me pray when I could not.

This teaching answered my prayer and a prayer prayed over me just days ago. Hallelujah to the Lamb.
I hadn't heard of tongues until months after I was born again. I knew I had the Holy Spirit at that point and prayed to NOT have the gift of tongues. I come from a new age background with all kinds of demonic experiences. It scared me that another spirit might come through. Then about 1.5 years later, I started feeling convicted for putting restrictions on gifts the Spirit may want to give me. I studied but could see validity in interpretations by people for and against it. I dug into what was blocking me. It was no longer a fear of a different spirit, but I was afraid of having a fake tongue and being a fool before God. Then I made a decision: I would rather be a fool WITH faith, than a fool WITHOUT faith. So I just prayed that the Holy Spirit would come through and started doing it. I still didn't have a lot of confidence at first. Then the 2nd or 3rd time I tried it, something weird happened...I found myself SINGING in tongues. It was so joyful! I almost never sing usually. This was out of character for me. I continued practicing praying in tongues when I had faith to do so and began noticing a strengthening happening in my day to day life. It was changing me for the better. With this, I began truly taking ownership of tongues. I hope this helps someone who is also worried about looking foolish to God. Have faith! If you have the Holy Spirit, he will pray with you and through you. God bless.

This is not an example of “biblical tongues” as per scripture. Tongues were actual ‘languages’ and not random blabbing….it’s more likely these are returning spirits from your background. Repent now, surrender and trust in Christ and Christ alone to be delivered in truth. Beware the leaven of the Pharisees and false teachers.

Thank you for this teaching. I was raised Baptist and we didnt believe in it, but deep in my mind I didnt feel that was correct. Felt something in me rising up and wanting to come out but I guess I wouldn’t let it. We were just taught it was a language that someone else HAD to interpret. I KNEW there was something more, including deliverance, tongues and healing. I went to a Pentecostal tent meeting as a YOUNg child and NEVER forgot it!! I now speak in tongues and cast out demons! PRAISE GOD IM NOT DENYING THE POWER THERE OF!!

In Mark 16:17 JESUS said,
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;”
In fact if you do not show the signs of casting out demons & speaking in tongues, you have NO EVIDENCE of being a true BELIEVER.
Jesus said those signs “WILL follow those who believe”, not ‘might follow’ or ‘could follow’ or ‘will follow some people’ as if it’s optional…”WILL FOLLOW” IS EMPHATIC & ABSOLUTE.
@ Crystal Neel - Unfortunately, you’ve given me a wrong answer as you don’t read Mar16 in its context as in Mark16:14, 15 Jesus was commissioning His disciples to preach the good news plus He gave them the power to perform miracles to authenticate their messages as in their days they don’t have a complete bible yet. So Jesus was not addressing you living in the 20th. century but he was talking to His disciples living in the 1st. century…
.Further, they will speaks in tongue as Jesus prophesied and it was fulfilled in Acts2 not in our days.

(1Co 12:29) Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
(1Co 12:30) Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will….meaning not everybody will be prophets, apostles, teachers, healers, speaking in tongues etc as it's a gift and a gift cannot be earned.
Really you believe Jesus authorized you to handle serpents and drink poison in verse 18 etc. Why don’t you put it to test and see whether it’s true or not? Common sense will tell you there is something wrong in your interpretation of these verses as it is ridiculous and absurd. Luckily you’re not a Pastor, if not many would have died of snake bites and drinking of poison.

I think it's important to realize that when people saw the Apostles plus 120 others all speaking in tongues on Pentecost Peter quoted Joel..."This is that spoke of by the prophet Joel.... “’In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
We know it's for as many as the Lord God shall call by Acts 2:39

This was so powerful to watch! Tongues is a real and powerful gift. A much needed reminder was the point about Spiritual warfare. As Christians, God has given us great weapons! We cannot fight in our own strength, we need the weapons of the Spirit.
My husband was in chapel in the school we went to before and spoke out loud about 25 years ago and one of the other students (who was from Africa) said..ahhh..your speaking Fra Fra..you just said the glory is coming down.
I've always been blessed by that.

God is so good to bless us with praying in the Spirit. So much revelation and wisdom (with our heads out of the way) comes directly from the Lord, including Him teaching us things I've read in the Word then pray in the Spirit and He gives me revelatory understanding. He says He is our Teacher. Hallelujah! And to be able to pray when we don't know what to.

I have followed what you said at the end. I just said a few words out loud... I just faught in my mind that I should at least start by a few words, any words. I had to "block" my mind. And then, after a moment, suddenly, I could'nt stop saying things... my lips were totally shaking... I've been caughting a lot in the same time, I don't know why....
So, thank you Lord for your messengers! I've been waiting for this for so long! I've never faught of such a breakthrough in my life just by watching a video! Believe me, no one is left out by God!!

I thank our Lord Jesus for people like you sir. This broke erverything open. I was in doubt about my tongues if I have received it years ago in Isreal but now I now I did because the Holy Spirit reminded me that its the same now as its was then. Sadly I didnt use it. But now I know the truth and Im speaking in tongues. What a awesome brake through that God did in my life today.

It makes perfect sense I don't even remember how old I was at a Bible camp and I was up there just kind of in the corner crying with to God and speaking in tongues I've never used it since it's just about came out of my mouth another time not too long ago but such a simple principal that makes perfect sense thank you so much I am looking forward to seeing you in Jupiter Florida on the 20th I'm making the drive from Massachusetts my life has always been half measures and unfinished everything I just have the feeling the time for half measures is totally over I'm so excited about what's coming next
I grew up in a fellowship that did not understand speaking in tongues. After I was baptized, I would frequently wake up speaking a language I did not recognize, but I did not speak in a prayer language when I spoke to God. I have been studying this for awhile now and have come to understand that my childhood fellowship needed to come to a deeper understanding in that aspect of the Spirit. During the Passover this year I was encouraged by the Spirit to just “try”, and I was given this gift during my prayer time one night. I still have so much to learn.

Praise Lord!:) i was asking today the Holy Spirit to explain me how the tongues work because i had a feeling the situation in Acts with those 16 languages is not the same with the language you receive after being baptized with the Holy Spirit. I tried speaking in tongues for the first time overseas in Japan on a mission trip. I have social anxiety and I was going to give my testimony there..I was scared and asked God for help to deliver it. I did it before sleeping and then experienced a demonic dream and never tried again out of fear. Back then, I was still sinning and wasn’t spending time in his word. I think some demonic doorways were still open for me. I have since fully committed to Christ and want to try again! Thank you for your teaching
How did you close all doors to sin and get back to christ. What did you do?

I am so excited about something you said in this teaching, I always thought when i must decide between two things that i must give it over to Him and then forget about it and just focus on Him while praying in tongues. The way i understood you was that yes He is the focus but also which one to choose or where to go (which way is the prompting in my heart) which really blessed me. And while driving home from work this afternoon and praying in tongues, i was reminded that a lot of my decisions in life was based on frustration and when acted upon, i would always wonder where did i miss it. And was reminded about another preacher that said frustration has children, everything is out to reproduce after its own kind and that frustration goes hand in hand with anger. So this all came to mind this afternoon while praying in tongues. I’m so excited cause now i can crucify this frustration that’s related with anger. I would never have thought anger and frustration is basically the same thing. So now hopefully i can stop job hopping and settle down

Great, great, teaching. Please explain to the church that speaking in other TONGUES """ is not the gift. It is the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire. The gift is the person of the Holy Spirit and its fullness.
Thank you. There is the gift of tongues, and then tongues as a sign of the initial filling of the Holy Ghost.
To get the GIFT of tongues, one MUST have been filled by the Holy Ghost, whose baptism is made apparent by ONE thing.......Speaking in tongues! Once the initial baptism is fulfilled, then the Holy Ghost will bless us with others gifts.......faith; discernment; healing; prophecy and TONGUES.
Tongues as the initial sign of Holy Ghost baptism is NOT the same as the gift. The first must proceed the latter.

11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.

You speak in tounges as the spirit gives utterance. Some people don't understand its a private language between your spirit and the Lord. Not the same as in the upper room.
My tongues started slow like Pastor Torben, I would just start speaking and then eventually it would flow. I haven't prayed in Tongues in awhile and I am gonna start being faithful. I looked up some of the words I was saying and it was Hebrew. But as Pastor Torben says it is to build us up. I need that. What a wonderful and loving God, who we get to know and serve as friends. Praise Jesus! One time I was under severe warfare and I was driving and started shouting at the top of my lungs in Tongues and the Holy Spirit helped me and gave me peace at a time I was really getting beat up. Thank you Father that You have given us so much. I repent of taking your gifts for granted and will be more faithful.

I always figured "do all speak in tongues?" Doesn't mean not everyone should speak in tongues, but just that not everyone does... because they haven't received the baptism of holy spirit, they don't believe tongues are real, etc.

One thing I do is go through the alphabet when speaking in tongues, start a sentence with the letter a then b,c etc till z. It really helps vary the tongue and language

When you’re give your life to Christ you’re reborn in the Spirit. You’re given the gift of tongues when you’re baptized in the Holy Spirit. According to Acts chapter 2.

The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. After repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ a believer must pray continually for the Lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit. It is helpful to have believers who have already recieved the Holy Spirit to lay hands on you and pray for you.
Once the Lord answers your prayer and fills you with the Spirit you must then surrender the last vestige of your will, your tongue, until the Holy Spirit takes control of it, " tames" it, and enables you to speak in the spiritual language that our English translation calls " tongues"
Once this happens it triggers the fillings overflow while at the same time the Holy Spirit joins with yours.

If you don’t speak in tongues don’t be discouraged. Not all will be gifted with tongues. 1 with tongues 1 with interpretation of tongues. 1 with healing 1 with dreams 1 with interpretation of dreams so on. It’s a gift. Yes we are of one body many members. But if you’re not a mouth piece you won’t speak in tongues arm can’t do what legs do. Tongues means languages.

My daughter was in the same position for several years, but the Lord pulled her out and I baptized her into Jesus this past summer. I prayed that God would keep her alive until she came to Him, and then I gave her to Him and didn’t worry anymore. Jesus is faithful. He loves your little girl. If anyone ever tells a person which words to speak as tongues, this is error and not from God. The Holy Spirit will give the utterance. The scripture says "speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance". We never have to make up words .....
I had never heard of "speaking in other tongues (languages)" when I was searching for God. I had never even seen a water baptism before either.
But I wanted to live for God. I had an experience with God opening my eyes to his Word in the gospel of John, "in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God.....v14..and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory as the only begotten of the Father".
I could finally see who Jesus was. And without hesitation, I felt the nudging of God on my heart to complete my commitment to walk with him and being baptized in water. I went in a baptistry tank, really nervous because to me it meant that is it....from now on. The Pastor of this church baptized me in the name of Jesus. (I had no preconceived notions of the Trinity or the Oneness....a blank slate)
When I come up out of the water, there was no great expressiveness, but I felt tinglng.
The church (small group of 10 or 12) gathered together and held each others hands and worshipped and prayed. Every time I tried to say hallelujah or thank you Jesus, a foreign language came out instead. I tried to stop it because I did not know what was happening or what these words meant.
I shared my experience with the teen son of the couple I was renting a room from. And he said "you were speaking in tongues from the Holy Ghost".
It never happened anymore. But I kept attending this church until I moved to Toronto, three months later. While in Toronto, an older lady befriended me and took me to a special services (April 4, 1991...wow this is the anniversary...cool) gathering and I heard the preaching "as an eagle, so the LORD". After the preaching was over, I went to the front to worship and pray. I lifted my hands to God in desperation and it felt like I stepped under a shower. I felt this intense effervescent inpouring and the tongues were so fluent coming out.... I am crying now as I remember. No one laid hands on me, just like no one bugged me about water baptism...and I had been repenting for a few years before it all began. I had decided in 1989 that this old sinful world had nothing that I wanted.
P.S. God knows me too well, if I had all these experiences because of someone laying hands on me, I would have drifted into doubt during my wilderness testing period. I am blown away, and weeping when I think about how lovingly patient God is with me. He really is a loving Shepherd who will leave the 99 to seek out the one lost wayward sheep.

Listen to the instructions He places on your heart. I was prayed over to receive the Holy Spirit and I did not immediately start speaking. But the Lord asked me to correct something in my life a week or so later. I obeyed Him and the gift was givin. God is good....all the time!
I'd like to hear an update if they have freed this Godly innocent man yet you know he's got to be close to the bullseye when the devil attacks him so brutally for no reason

I find the NIV useful as it gives an overall picture in an easily understandable way (but the NIV tends to water down the supernatural) so I will use one of the earlier translations like the KJV or the RSV together with the NIV (a later translation) (no one Bible is perfect- for example the KJV has alot of Mandela effects...but it is still useful)...the Amplified bible is also good (but they sometimes try to over explain everything)...just have a few Bibles and go for it...and go on line to compare different translations like biblehub or gateway to which can also help in getting the meaning....(the more you read the Bible, the OT and NT, the more you get to know the whole picture of God and it becomes more clear as God keeps repeating the same themes over and over and over...)
KJV, it may be harder to read, but it is not watered down and it is genuine
