I think a lot of her hiding her feelings is because she's so used to trying to share them with her family, only to get shot down repeatedly. She tries to tell her mom about her health condition, but her mom just thinks she's complaining and she can handle it. I think she's just conditioned at this point that every time she allows herself to be vulnerable, she just gets hurt. On top of that, she's a CEO and feels all this pressure to be strong, and tough, and emotionless. She's also probably a bit of an introvert (despite being hot even as an intern, she didn't have anyone trying to date her). I think she just has a lot going against her.
Absolutely! This poor girl learned very young to hold everything in and to be strong and to build so many walls to protect herself. Even in the flashbacks you could see no one liked her in school. She had NO ONE! Poor thing. No wonder her only wish is to have someone (specifically HyunWoo) by her side! It's interesting to me that HyunWoo has such a hero complex. His main drive is to protect her and take care of her. He's such a nurturer! And I think while they were dating it was good because HaeIn finally found that someone to be by her side but the realities of her corporate life and insane family made it almost impossible for their marriage to thrive. 😭
