there will come a moment when you will feel the need to listen to this. and when it stops suddenly, unexpectedly, after 30 minutes of noise, you will feel born again.
I've found personally that art is simply a reflection of life and therefore anything that can be said about life can be represented in art. So no, I think that there's always something that can be said about music (or non-music). Whether something is "intelligent" or not is pretty ambiguous since it's up to the individual to determine whether something is or isn't and so we could go around in circles indefinitely about this since it ultimately relies upon a difference in opinion.
this is in the same sphere as monochrome paintings. Samuel Beckett. and other artists that choose a minus approach rather then elaborate expression. This may also be the final pages to the idea of noise. It has been pushed to the Wall so to speak there is no place left to take it.
Well music is an art form utilizing sound as it's medium. Just like someone might paint a picture that doesn't look pretty to you and call it a "painting", someone might form a sonic production that you don't think sounds good and call it "music". In both instances the artist is correct. Art doesn't need to elicit pleasant emotion to become valid and sound CERTAINLY doesn't need to be catchy or rhythmic in any way to be music.
Music: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. Noise: A sound, esp. one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbanc. This, by definition, is noise.
Music is what you want it to be. It only exists because our minds attach themselves to pattern and sound has powerful effects upon our psyche. Music only becomes music after you have accepted it as such and ceases to be when you reject it as such so of course to you it is not and perhaps will never be music and that's fine, but it is for many of those creating and listening to it.
Is this changing or is it my perception? Sounds like strings are introduced about halfway through and then some garbled vocals and then at 24:00 the gating becomes more intense... Do you think he's actually included these sounds as part of the composition or has he just left us in front of a tape loop/computer and our minds are finding changes on their own?
That's the magic of harsh noise wall. It's so noisy and obscured your mind makes up melodies and hidden sounds. This is like listening to the Goslings.
Sure, I think that my previous post actually verifies that square-rectangle analogy. Sound is noise, until we perceive it as music. There exists within everything a pattern, it's just once you seek out that pattern and elevate it in your mind as a work of art that it becomes something more, what I choose to call music.
You can't limit the word music to a specific thing since it's an abstract form of art. Simply learning in theory class about someone else's definition of music is doesn't make it the only definition. Personally I believe that art only maintains it's status as art as long as there is someone there to perceive it as such. If there is no one there to do so then it simply is. I believe this to be the case with music, meaning that if you don't perceive it as music then its "just noise"
I've found that the best way to approach people who are obviously "trolling" is to intelligently engage them and see what they have to say. He has now proved twice that he has nothing intelligent to contribute to this video, thus ending the issue.
You may be correct that the origin of the word music is rooted in actual direct human composition, but I think that it can broaden to include composition of projection, meaning that I project meaning upon something that is perhaps inherently meaningless.
There is nothing intelligent to say about this and its useless to discuss the "value" of this "music". Its just noise. Whether you can take some enjoyment out of this, or not, its still just noise. I dont see myself listing to this on a regular basis, but its cool that there is crazy stuff like that out there, Cheers and peace.
Harsh noise wall is exactly what it is. Love it or hate it. There is nothing to understand about it. Enjoy this upload of a rare Vomir tape and drown 30 min. of life in it haha!!! HNW Master
Exactly man, you can do an in depth interpretation of anything, but that doesn't dilute it's validity. Everything is complex and free game for philosophical analysis and everything is art. I'm not trying to sound "pretentious" I'm not even totally sure that I know what it is to be pretentious. I'm just saying that there's nothing wrong with finding depth within simple things, especially in terms of art. No offense taken.
The fact that this is on an album, performed live and stands under the name "vomir" speaks to me of sound that has intention placed into it, perhaps that intention is to destroy music... I don't know, but even then he is creating what he seeks to destroy.
I'm actually being completely honest and sincere, like I to not have the intention to mock you. I actually need to be educated as to how this is; "Catchy, rythmatic, honestly musical in any way". Like pleaseeee.
I don't consider this music. I consider it background noise. I can imagine that some people would want to listen to it for the same reasons some people like to sleep to the sound of wind or rain. But, music has formula. It is mathematically decipherable as to why it has the effect that it does. This is random. I am not saying it isn't artistic. I am just saying put it next to 3 blind mice (very simple song, in which we should be able to make out the basic elements of what makes music what it is) and there is no comparability. It sounds like someone put a ribbon microphone in front of a fan for 30 minutes. Not like someone carefully crafted and composed each of the many little changes in it.
"Well, to make clear, the music is a sound you like and the noise is a sound you don't like or "understand"." This is something Zbigniew Karkowski writes in his essay "The Method is Science, The Aim is Religion"
You do realize that that's the whole point. You say that like Vomir intended to write a classical symphony and fucked up and accidentally produced this.
I like to call a duck a duck. This is noise, by definition even and I dont see whats philosophical or high minded or whatever about it. I mean you can possibly do an in depth interpretation of this stuff (which you can do for almost everything when it comes to "art"), but you´ll be hard pressed not to sound like you´re on drugs or come off as totally pretentious. No offense, just my opinion.
this is literally just static for 30 minutes, calling this "art" is a disgrace to the word. I agree with you that a production does not have to be pleasant to the ears to be art but for fucks sake...I feel like the only people who call this art are pretentious assholes who want to create something so un-listenable that no one else would like it so they can claim it as they're own and call it "art".
If it's so unlistenable then why do I love listening to it so much...looks like your theory is wrong and it is art after all. It doesn't have to make sense to everybody.
there will come a moment when you will feel the need to listen to this. and when it stops suddenly, unexpectedly, after 30 minutes of noise, you will feel born again.
true doom murderheads listen in 144p
Jesus christ this shit is so relaxing, fucking blissful.
Love this - you can focus and clear your mind to this. Very present.

Why do I just want to keep listening to it..
Am I the only one feeling incredibly scared while listening to it? And I LOVE IT at the same time o.o
Has almost an ASMR quality to it.
this is in the same sphere as monochrome paintings. Samuel Beckett. and other artists that choose a minus approach rather then elaborate expression. This may also be the final pages to the idea of noise. It has been pushed to the Wall so to speak there is no place left to take it.
That drop was insane..
reminds me of a time where i was in a hurry driving somewhere and was too lazy to search for a proper radiochannel
lmaoo

I really cannot at all understand how a human could like this. I just cant.
StagShiftZayas sounds nice
Speed this up to 2x and it’s raining hard
When people say a punk or metal band is "just noise" i show them this
Touching, really.
Music: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
Noise: A sound, esp. one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbanc.
This, by definition, is noise.
You could argue that this is music that expresses an idea through the element of color alone

Holy shit, I really like this
I'm going to use it for the last Numbers List (-500 - Almost -600)
Love this!

just because it's Vomir, I'd say it's your mind playing tricks. he prides himself on lack of change and progress in his tracks
That's the magic of harsh noise wall. It's so noisy and obscured your mind makes up melodies and hidden sounds. This is like listening to the Goslings.
like a kind of sensory deprivation based hallucination
man wtf its jackal how tf you doin bb
i love the moment when the drop come in
Listen at .25 speed
"Vomir" ... In french this word means to throw up. I think you get the good name dude.
I'm legitimately scared right now.
There's always something intelligent to say. You or I might not have anything at a given moment, but there's always something.

On general issues, yes.
About this music, no. Its hit or miss.

That's it!? Just white noise? Static? Explain to me how this is music?
This isn't white noise.
So is your comment.
Define hipster
If this is music then I vote we discard the word music altogether because it becomes meaningless if you include this.
+DNPinthePP u typed stupid words
+DNPinthePP meaningless is the point
Our existence is meaningless.
Loling at the pretentious dorks in the comments
Explain to me how it's not.
I don't get it

i grew up listening to this music, and you wouldn't know good wall noise if it hit you in the face. go check out some lady gaga, poser.
its freaking static for 30 minutes. there is nothing at all "musical" about it
You do realize that that's the whole point. You say that like Vomir intended to write a classical symphony and fucked up and accidentally produced this.

That's the genre, noise.
Vomir's whole aesthetic is the fact that the noise doesn't mean or represent anything
