If you are strong, you can lift your Laser Pico up to the top of your car without help. It is only about 60 kg. However there is an easier way, using a roller and a winch.
OK, great show. Lasers and sunfish are about the same weight as the Pico, I believe. A couple of simple mods would stabilize the boat a bit - some supports on the cross-beam of the back rack.
True, a trailer provides some ease, but I sail with lots of people who have to travel by ferry, for instance, and would pay 2x by having a trailer. It is "simple" enough (in theory) to add the capability that the Gabor shows here. Another case is if you want to drag a trailer with boats and want to add one to the roof. Lots of applications.
Where did you get that roller with the wheels and axle? Did the boat come with those holes on the sternum to put the axle through?
thanks for show it
That's brill thanks for sharing ... very clever.

It seems that you use the car engine to power a winch. Would you make another video to show how this is work.
No, I use an electric winch powered from the car battery. The winch is mounted on the first bar of the roof rack.
You are alone doing better then we are doing it with 2-3 guys
Get a trailer much easier and faster.
You could be home before the end of the video
To use a trailer I would need: 1. a trailer hitch, 2. a trailer, 3. bigger parking place, 4. pay more highway toll.
