Saw the Joe Perry Project backing up Blue Oyster Cult. They rocked, Charlie Ferren was great with this band,he had his own band,Ferrenheit, used to play in ,and around Boston all the time
I had Joe Perry buy me a beer in the 80's, me and a friend went to see the Joe Perry Project in Poughkeepsie NY, and the Fire Marshall had deemed a certain # allowed in the venue, and we got turned away; we got there for the next show (about 6 months later, and when we went to get tickets, they weren't"t opened yet, but we pounded on the doors, and they let us In(just to buy tickets) and Joe and his drummer were in there, and when they heard iyr story, they bought us a beer; Ol'Joe is the coolest ever, for sure!

Joe's famous Tele-Rat. saw him on the back in the saddle tour using this guitar. So glad this video is hanging around. Joe looks similar to what he did in the early 70's with the headband and shit. amazing fucken solo in this song, just oozing with blues.

Dammit, how time goes by! I was 16 when this came out and saw every show JPP did up and down the West Coast. Best late Spring/Summer ever. Traveling with my bestie and seeing Joe play live. Amazing shows, amazing time. Hearing this today...wow. Great stuff. One of the best guitarists ever. 🎸
WHERE THE FUCK DID THIS COME FROM......WOW...... I never knew there was video of this....... man I would have loved for him to have done one for.......LIFE at a GLANCE...... DAMMMMM!!!!!!!......there for a second I was 19 again...... :)

Killet cut!One of the most. "in your face" ,raw, dirty, real, fun and alive sounds outta any record. Ever. Would stack it (pardon the pun) against any rock album Lucky enough to see the Project umteen tmes during H.S. All nice guys. Joe was always a good guy. During this period his "Citizen" life was kinda sucky but he had fun playing away from ROSMITH . All Great Americans and hope we're not calling each other Comrade in the near future cause you, your grandkids, great grandkids will never get to, legally, experience anything like this again. Embrace it NOW! Hint take NOW and shift a couple of letters....you'll get it.🇺🇸🎸
It seems like Joe had fun doing his own thing for a while. He went back to playing bars and clubs, which he states he loves, and pretty much played what he wanted. I admit I enjoy the three albums from the JPP way more than Rock In A Hard Place. (which is a great album too though!)
Jo was heavily influenced by punk when this album was released. I’ve always thought of it as his punk metal album. If you’re looking for melodic pop sophistication keep walking. But if you like to have your ears blown off by surf garage punk dabbled with metal yea is pretty good. Pop 90s Aerosmith fans are horrified by it. It’s the Anti Corporate Aero album. I’m about due to go buy another copy. Mine keeps walking away to my kids or friends who go WTF! And have to have it. Never a big seller in its day but it’s 43 years old and here we are, talking about it.
Let the pop 90s Aero fans stay horrified. Real Aerosmith fans know that prior to Permanent Vacation this was the real sound of Aerosmith and not the corporate abomination they became.
I think Farren and the rest of the band quit after the tour for this record. The record company were not happy with the sales of the 2nd record either and dumped the band, helping with this versions demise. Whole new band (and label) with the next record. But don't believe that selling more records means that the music is better... McDonald's sells more food than anyone... but it is certainly not the best food.
Mauricio Correia I remember when Ralph Morman was the first JPP singer. He was great, a very unique voice. I always wondered why he was out of the band. I had seen a post that Joe owed Ralph a lot of money and infighting began
3 Albums, 3 Years, 3 Singers. Joe was the one with the problem. That being said, I loved the JPP. Wished he never went back to Aerosmith for there watered down stage. Of course if he kept on with the JPP, he might be looking for his 37th lead singer by now...
Headstones2013 The problem with Ralph was he was a drunk that couldn't make it to the shows and be a professional. The "problem" with Charlie was there was not enough money to go around. The problem with Mach Bell, was Mach Bell and the shows were getting smaller and smaller. Of course Joe's substance abuse was an issue as well, but David Hull stuck it out and still plays with Joe, so it's not like Joe is a giant asshole or something.
Joe has a warehouse full of killer guitars.. I've been in music stores when Joe's guy would come in and point to what he wanted and they'd pull them off the wall and send them to Joe
@Steven Tyler I’m there I love the 70’s 80’s Rock I had been listening to you since I was 15yr’s old now I’m 62’s old and love love it you guys rock❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸
It almost fooled me, but then I saw @3:41 that Ronnie missed a single snare hit! ...and then there were no mics on the drums or in front of the amps...great fake live , though!

Totally agree. Especially where my cousin's uncle is Ronnie on the drums. My first concert i was 8 and they opened up for ZZ TOP at the worcester Centrum.
I've never seen this video before now nor back in '81. I wonder where it was shown, if at all then. I think the first and second line-ups sounded good as well as the first and second albums. The bootlegs are worth listening to also. It's not easy going solo from a big name band, but they were rockin'. I gotta say Joe looks pretty hot here too...wears those genes well. (Sorry, had to let out that young teen.) Thanks for uploading the video.
The label he was on at the time buried his stuff. He got shit for support. It was a calculated move to force him to go back to Aerosmith. It was rock business sleaze at its best....
@@Trial212 Well, that’s to be expected if you sign with the same label (Columbia Records) which was Aerosmith’s label. They’re out to make money and Joe back in Aerosmith was more likely to be successful which was true. Joe signed with another label (MCA) but the album didn’t do so hot. I still wanna know how Joe would sound if he learned to play guitar left handed, like he is left handed. The only reason he plays right handed is because that's how it looked in the book when he was teaching himself guitar. He thought that's how your supposed to hold it. True story.
Lefties have it a bit hard in the world, nearly everything is made for right-handers and back then a lot of guitars were made only for righties. He can play left-handed as well, I've seen him do it.
I would like to know how I would play guitar if I had been allowed to play the normal way, left handed, but the studio where I took lessons, adamantly refused to let me play left handed. (1970)
I switched to right handed when I was about 12 and started taking playing seriously BEST move I ever made. Playing lefty looks cool but it just is not practical now I can go into any store and pickup tons of guitars. Buy them online etc...
I wonder as well. Joe has said that it feels "backwards at times", Look at the SKILL it took to do what he did!!! Pretty darn cool. BTW, I just found out that Gary Moore and Mark Knopfler are both lefties that learned to play right handed. Mr Perry is in some amazing company!!!
I remember when this record came out. I played the hell out of it. Was determined to learn all of Joe's licks
I saw JPP at an amusement park in NJ in 1980 or 81. I remember thinking that his solo stuff was pretty damn good, and the concert was great.
Him & Charlie Farrin were the greatest JPP RULED
At the Trenton Fairgrounds/ racetrack? I was there, still have the photos and negatives from the show.
F'n wow... just imagine if music could be this cool again.
Dude what about Justin Bieber he is the best;)

Killer tune. Extremely underrated
Wish this lineup would have stuck it out ! Joe Perry & Charlie Farren Awesome !
Many many lifetimes from now when someone asks what was rock n roll all they will have to do is watch and listen to this.

Joe Perry Rocks
This whole album inspired my first band 40 plus years ago.
Joe Perry is the embodiment of Blues AND RnR. (IMO) Always liked his solo stuff.
I love it the tempo beat Joe Never Stop Rocken Love you alwsys❤❤❤ love the way you play 🎸 ❤
Saw the Joe Perry Project backing up Blue Oyster Cult. They rocked, Charlie Ferren was great with this band,he had his own band,Ferrenheit, used to play in ,and around Boston all the time
When Joe brings out the lefty strat with the reverse tele neck, you know shit's about to go down!
Haaa! Very good. Ya sensed "what's coming up here is No Joke!" Haa !
They don't call him Joe Fucking Perry for nothing, brother!
Uno de los mejores guitarristas del mundo... Joe Perry sin duda!!!
Joe Perry es un guitarrista poderoso y una leyenda viviente 👍💥🎸
I bought this when it first was released and I'm still hooked on this album

Same here!! I got all 3 on vinyl!!
such a great record !!!
Bought this cassette after seeing the multi page ad in circus magazine , still one of my favs
Joe is so beautiful. We know talented but let's take in that face
Hello 👋 Angie. How are you doing? Hope you are fine
Sounds damn good to me. Keep on rockin Joe!!
Joe's style is classic. The rest of the band is straight out the 80s.
I was lucky enough to see them perform this live when I was a teenager. One of the loudest shows at the time. Great show!👍
Especially if the drummer was playing those dual Ludwig drums!
Yeah, they were VERY loud back in the day. I remember one show with Brad Whitford at Nantasket Beach in Mass. My ears rang for a few days!
Saw the JPP at a real small rock bar in Bradenton Florida was a once in a lifetime experience for sure 81 I think

Fantastic album... so many thanks for that to you and the band!

Charlie Farren - best singer / performer Boston had during the 80's.
Yes, completely!!Charlie Farren is also a great songwriter. Love his style, thought he was a perfect fit for J.Perry Project.
Yup. To me he "out cooled" the whole gambit , friggin' Globally!
Great talent, great guy.
He wrote or co-wrote pretty much every song on that JPP album, too.
He had a real Sammy Hagar vibe about him---which I dig!

Great song and great singer... I never understood why Joe replaced Charlie Farren with that awful Cowboy Mach Bell
Ha... Joe had 3 singers in the four years of the JPP... Clearly Steven Tyler wasn't the only one who was hard to work with...

Mr Perry is in some amazing company!!!
cool!
There is just so much to like about this ! Awesome stuff ! 👏
