  • Hey everybody welcome to another episode of Muddy Reviews, in this video we are checking out the US Army IHWCU ( Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform ). This OCP uniform is a great set of camoflauge for Airsoft and of course service use for the hot summer days in the US or any warmer temperate climate.
    I got this set on base but you can find these at numerous Army Navy stores in the US, eBay, and also made by Propper International. Below is a link to one of many places you can find these uniforms for sale or at least a commercial variation.
    www.uspatriott...
    This uniform is fantastic middle ground between a standard field uniform and a combat shirt/pant combo. especially the top, the blouse offers the protection of a field shirt and the wearability with armor of a combat shirt IMHO. As I stated it is a middle ground, compromise if you will between the two garments.
    For Airsoft I think these are fantastic as they provide a little more coverage and protection as well as assist in heat mitigation. Make for a more comfortable experience with wearing a.plate carrier or chest rig with a field shirt and dry fast. If you want to utilize a camoflauge uniform in.your Airsofting but don't necessarily want a combat shirt this might be the option for you.
    I hope you got something out of this review, as always get out there play some Airsoft, Larp Hard and take care!

    I'm like the only one who wears this at my AF unit for reserves. It's hot as hell down here in the south. I don't know how people DON'T wear this. It's a life saver!

      I wish we had a Navy equivalent (that wasn't just for NSW). Summers here in South Texas in NWU IIIs SUCK! These cammies are worn pretty much year round down here lol.

      @Alex P don't get me wrong the type IIIs aren't nearly as bad as the type Is were as they were poplin and the type IIIs are ripstop.

    Great review, I’ve been wanting to see more video reviews of this uniform. Personally, I have the FRACU (flame resistant) OEF-CP multicam uniform. Not to say OCP sucks (I do have a couple of gear in OCP) but I just prefer or like multicam more. Especially since multicam seems to be more widely available out in the market.

      Thank you Sir! I am glad you liked it. I totally get it, I absolutely live FRACUs and have a set of FRACU OEF-CP as well. I prefer Multicam over Scorpion W2 (OCP) any day of the week but do really like the IHWCU quite a bit.

      They did something positive for sure. It's a really nice set of cammies but time will ultimately tell how they hold up.

    Lol update. The pants are now $80 alone. Dub up for the set. Gotta love inflation.

    The surplus store I go to you can get a set for 30 bucks and fade doesn't change price

      That is awesome! EVERY single surplus shop I have found in Texas has the IHWCUs at damn near the same cost or more than a new set from Clothing Sales on base.

    Love how comfy they are but the material on these pill up so quick and the nylon knee areas snag on stuff and it drives me insane. I had a big run in one just from climbing a rock wall.

      I didn't notice the nylon knee snagging, but I wasn't wearing these for the same length of time as a Soldier. Appreciate the comment and the info, though. great stuff!

      @@Muddy_Reviews yeah I'm a little perplexed trying to figure out the intent and how to use the feature.

    • @Muddy_Reviews
      @Muddy_Reviews  Год назад

      @M B they are meant to be tucked into your boots to create a mesh barrier to keep creepy crawlys out of your trousers. Are you sure your IHWCU isn't the earlier version? I know the early test uniforms had this feature and I have yet to see them in any of the follow on uniforms. However it very well could be regional as well. Are you in a tropical environment?

    • @MB-jg4tr
      @MB-jg4tr Год назад +1

      @@Muddy_Reviews that's what I figured the mesh was for, but blousing trousers is the norm so it's a little confusing. They may be an early run I'm not sure. Goodwill Industries manufactured

    Id love to see how these hold up in the dirt against insects. I really hate combat shirts, as stretchy webbing in the center tends to just let in any and all insects possible, ill get up and half of my back is pure chigger bites.

    • @Muddy_Reviews
      @Muddy_Reviews  Год назад

      I know what you mean! I hate Chiggers...I got lit up pretty bad during Landwarfare school on Camp Lejeune. I will be sure to report on these this coming summer as I will be hitting up D14 Airsoft field pretty regularly and will be using this top a lot to get a good feel for it so expect some follow on videos this summer.

    I got a pair (Propper) I might have to return because the sizing is weird? I’m a 35 and I hear these run small so I got Large Short and it’s just ever so slightly too big but I think the medium might be too small? Will they shrink a little bit? Probably perfect if they do, if you could provide any info there much appreciated! 🙏🏻

    • @Muddy_Reviews
      @Muddy_Reviews  4 месяца назад +1

      Mine haven't shrunk, and they issued a set. I have fits pretty accurate if not a little loose. If you are a 35 you will want to stay with the Large, you will be at the outer threshold of the medium.
