I know why Cecilio Student Cello Factory strings have a Plain Steel A String because they figured that the Cello is a part of the Violin Family (that's correct) so their Cello strings are basically Over length Violin Strings.

Geared tuners might help even better.

I bought one of those Cecilio violins when I was in middle school and essentially you get what you pay for. Part of the reason the peg keeps slipping is because the pegs need to go to the other side of the peg box. where you see the white part of the box the pegs need to be filled to fit through the hole. My teacher I showed her the violin and it needed $300 worth of repairs. I'll stick to dirt cheap music.

I used peg drops on my older violins and man what a difference! I haven’t had to tune any of them since.

The A & D Strings of the prelude cello set have little black tubes that go into the notches of the bridge to help protect them.

Yeah they have a Plain Steel A String, not good. So a Wound A String should help. I think Helicore strings could be a good alternative to the Preludes because the stranded steel core helps.

Haha, yeah, everyone needs an instrument like that. Please click my Amazon link and then search for the cello you want. that way, I'll still get credit for it. Thanks!! I just added links to the 3/4 and full size models.

I restrung mine with D’addario strings.
Not only do they sound better, you should compare (see) the new strings to the stock strings. The stock A and D strings were barely thicker than human hair lol

How do you not notice that the pegs slip because they aren't fitted. They are supposed to go through the holes in BOTH sides of the peg box.

The icon is a stock photo -- Yes, poor fitting.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with economics 101 . A company is not going to produce a quality product for sub-premiume price. They'll lose the income from those who can make payments and afford more. Sooooo...... They make a sub-standard product that will be purchased by people like me that have to take it or go without. The higher the price, the better the product but good quality starter Cellos are north of $1000.
