    The Sun and whatever object in front of the sun gave you all a dope slash of light on the right wall.

    • @JoelGabrielsen

      Yes! That's what I did to sync in this video. Scratch audio and syncing in post. I have recently upgraded my setup to run timecode to cameras and audio.

      Yes!! It's a Nissan NV200. You can fit 1Ton package. It's tight but I'm able to make it work. I much prefer traveling with a smaller cargo van. I have a full breakdown video here - ruclips.net/video/18-2oE_HojA/видео.html

    Do you include the van in your production budget? It's such a value to have access to..

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  Год назад

      Absolutely! I would love to have one general price for all production but I'm working with such a variety of clients. It depends. Sometimes on smaller productions I will just throw it in to make my life a little easier but most cases I'm charging a day rate for a one ton package. One thing I do that is different than a lot of G&E houses. I include my lighting package. 2xF22C 2x600ds. If it goes beyond that I will charge additional.
      Thanks for watching Tim!

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  Год назад

      Dude!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
      I try to keep it pretty simple. A lot of the footage I shoot I don't end up editing. I try to make it pretty easy for someone else.
      I mostly work with LUTS. Alister Chapman has a great correction LUT for SLOG3 that I have been using for years.
      www.xdcam-user.com/2018/08/new-venice-look-luts-version-3-includes-minus-green-luts-for-fs5-fs7-f55-a7s-a7r/alister-v-look-v3-s-log3/
      I add this LUT onto the FX3. That's what I use to dial in the look on set. Sometimes depending on the client and turnaround time I will bake in the look.

    What percentage did you have your 600d set to in order to get a good exposure against the window? I've had clients that want so shoot in front of windows but the amount of keylight needed to compensate for it usually ends up blinding the subject. Sometimes I put ND film on the windows but it's a bit time consuming to do.

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  Год назад +2

      Thanks for watching!!!
      I was around 50% I did have ND on my cameras to balance out exposure and drop the background outside. The Aputure 600d is pretty bright.
      Im with you on the windows ND film is a pain to do! If I was only shooting a single camera sometimes I will setup a 8X8 double net and put it behind the talent. You have to have the space to do this though.

    But what if the weather conditions change? Imagine having bright sunlight changing with cloudy difused light during a scene. Would destroy the whole scene right?

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  Год назад +1

      This is a great point! I always try and light the scene as much as possible so if the weather changes outside at least the room will have consistent exposure. I was lucky that the weather stayed pretty consistent outside. Not always the case.

    Curious,
    Do clients care that you are using a fx3 compared to a bigger body like the fs5?

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  Год назад +2

      Good question!!! Typically I rig out my FX3 so it's not much of an issue. In the past when I have used just the camera body on shoots I definitely got a lot of questioning on why I'm using a small "photo" camera. Some clients care and some don't. Either way I bring a directors monitor so they can see the image big and focus more on that.
