- The Yo-Yo intermittent recovery tests have become some of the most extensively studied fitness tests in sports science and practice. Due to their specificity and practicality, the tests have been widely applied in many team sports to assess players`abilities to repeatedly perform high-intensity exercise (Bangsbo, Iaia & Krustrup, 2008).

What's the difference of yo-yo test with Multistage Fitness Test (MFT)/Bleep Test?
The bleep test starts a lot slower so you’ll get more of a rest. The yo yo test is harder

We're the beeps at the beginning predetermined or did they correspond w the runners crossing the lines? And why were some levels ran multiple times?
The beeps are pre-set and get faster from level to level. The test starts with level 5 and then level 8, followed by level 11, whic consists of 2 parts (11.1 and 11.2 = 2 runs). At level 12 there are 3, at 13 there are 4 and from 14 on there are 8 parts until the end of the test (14.1, 14.2, 14.3, ....14.8 -> 15.1, 15.2, ....).

@@arunkumarvijayaraj1311 No Brother... Sprinters do such practices. It increases your stamina and will help you sustain the speed for a longer period :). Bolt represented predominantly in 100, 200 and 400 mts. For 400m and 200m, such practice would help a lot.
We used to do 100m Sprint, then 100 m jog, then 100 sprint and so on when I used to represent college long back.

There is no device to calculate the speed. Instead, the speed is indicated by a time limit for the lap.
Or else work around for this . If u can complete 2 KM in 8 minutes that means you can pass yo yo
The distance between cones / time at the certain level. For example, level 16 seemed to about 3 seconds. You can estimate minimum required speed to reach each cone by using equation above.

The world of sports and strength and conditioning is full of such bullshit wasting time, energy and mind. There is more constructive ways to know one's endurance/performance level based on a smart training system. The tests are for the stupid trainers and for the scientists who don't know what a real training is and how important it is to save athlete's energy and movement patterns fresh and clean.
