    What most people don’t realize about Donte is how often in Carolina he was covering the number 1 receiver. As a number 2 cornerback he complements JPJ so well. He’s really fast and has legitimate ball hawking ability and excels at jumping routes with great acceleration and recognition. He’s much better than Levi due to Levi’s physical limitations due to having no long speed and poor acceleration despite Levi’s high IQ.

    Steelers_DB, nice work. A lot of steelers youtube channels lose objetivity and credibility.... deke, all steelers talk, and others are great but they have significant flaws in their analysis. You're a lot closer to Alex Kozora over at steelers depot. I've only been aware of you for the last year or so, but I am a fan of your work. :)

    Fits perfectly in our system , a lil undersized for our liking of a Pittsburgh corner type but this dude is a playmaker! I see why they went and traded for him because we lacked speed. His zone coverage is gonna be his go to. If we had him at slot he would probably have the best season of his career also I wanna see how he tackles because he would be perfect in that Mike Hilton role especially running a 4.3👀

      Peterson was always an elite cover man. So much so that we never paid much attention to his tackling or his small size during his Arizona days. Now that he’s lost a step, the deficiencies become apparent. Wallace has past injuries, lacked the physicality of JPJ and the field IQ that PP had. Hopefully Jackson fills the loss of those guys. Be even better if he’s as good a CB as Diontae Johnson was a WR. I’m still not convinced this was a good trade (letting go of the top performing receiver and best route runner on the team)

    Levi Wallace is not a 'starting' level CB in my opinion. So Jackson will be an improvement.

  • @JamesHardy-yi1ph
    @JamesHardy-yi1ph 6 месяцев назад

    Basically we still need to be hunting for another CB in the draft. This dude is a marginal (emphasis on marginal) upgrade to Levi Wallace. Get another one in the draft, and also lets hope Cory Trice comes back from injury and produces well in OTAs for a roster spot.

    • @jayjames4629

      Marginal ?We will definitely get a corner in the draft tho..He's way better than anything we had in that spot last year

      @@jayjames4629I wouldn't have any complaints if this was a free agent signing. But letting Diontae Johnson go for him isn't the greatest deal. We let a A receiver walk for a B cornerback.

    • @JamesHardy-yi1ph
      @JamesHardy-yi1ph 6 месяцев назад

      @@Steelers_DBHe is solid, just not elite. I think at this juncture though he has to enter OTAs and training camp as the starter right? His film and resume suggests he's the second best corner on our roster now. Don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing yet. Not sure how deep the corner class this year is in the draft, but I hope there's some good day 2 guys. No matter what, I think we need to draft a center day 1.

    • @Steelers_DB
      @Steelers_DB  6 месяцев назад

  • @yinzerfromthebayou
    @yinzerfromthebayou 6 месяцев назад

    I think this is def an upgrade for Levi and Pat, but i think he's a stop gap in case we draft OL with our 1st 2 picks. Maybe slot corner Sainristil will fall to our 3rd pick. I would rather spend $ in FA for at least a center so we can get another high pick corner.

    He might give up some big plays once in awhile but he looks a lot more sound than Levi Wallace 😂😂Do you think he can lock down the CB2 position or do you think it gets filled in the draft? Or a dark horse like Darius Rush comes and takes it? Great video as always, getting us a lil excited at first and then tempering that excitement with his bad reps 🤣🤣🤣

  • @keithstewart8613
    @keithstewart8613 6 месяцев назад +1

    I was initially excited about acquiring Donte Jackson but after peeling back the onion my feelings have changed. His pro football focus score is not that good and is barely higher than Levi Wallace and Patrick Peterson which isn't saying much. He also has lost alot of his speed which was his best attribute. I just feel when it comes to the corner position the Steelers tend to use a plug the hole mentality as opposed to a fix the hole mentality. With that said Im not too sure how effective this bandaid solution will be. We shall see. I just feel there were much better options out there but oh well it is what is.

    turning his back to the QB in zone as a cloud corner, hopping instead of stepping in press, etc. He’s a freak athlete so I imagine this has never caused any real problems for him, but i’m worried that when he loses a step with age these habits might catch up.

      Just be a solid CB2 like Steven Nelson was. I am concerned much less about Interceptions and splash than I am getting off the field on those 3rd and longs which the Steelers have been giving up on the regular since Joe Haden left. Those plays are backbreakers on a tired defense that has already been on the field for too long because the Offense cant sustain drives.

    • @JayDaMan420
      @JayDaMan420 6 месяцев назад

      I think that he can be a 4 INT and 12 PBU kinda guy. In situations where the opposing team has a fast star WR (1 or 2), He will have Minkah behind him making plays.. which could force QBs into making more mistakes.. I still think we could get a CB in round 1, especially if one of the 2 Bama Corners are available
