I'm actually going to see Annie Haslam with Renaissance next month, she's STILL performing, in her 70's.... They were an incredible band. I'd recommend listening to "Mother Russia", or "Scheherazade" as well.
Amazing reaction, I'm so glad more people are reacting to this. Still brings tears to my eyes, an absolute classic with incredible musicians and Annie Haslam's incredible voice xx
So glad you've discovered this band! As per wiki: "Live at Carnegie Hall is a 1976 live double album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance. It presented songs from all of the band's Annie Haslam-era studio albums thus far, including the forthcoming (at the time of the concerts) Scheherazade and Other Stories." It's their very best lp, imo... Their epic, Scheherazade, is astounding in this live version!
I had the very good fortune to see Renaissance in Denver in the late 70s. Annie Haslam just stood at the mic in this beautiful gown and sang as beautifully as any bird I ever heard. She might be right up there, for me, with Cass Elliot as the sweetest voices I have ever heard.
Oh wow! This takes me back. I remember BBC did a live simultaneous broadcast series (on tv and radio) called Sight and Sound. I was still at school, not a lot of money for concerts, I saw over course of 3 weeks Renaissance, Camel and Manhattan Transfer for free! Annie Haslam's voice was astonishing!
Wow! I've never heard of anyone reacting to Renaissance. I love almost everything they've done. My favorite by them is an entire album: Scheherazade And Other Stories. I recommend listening to the whole thing.
NO WAAAAAAY! Someone is actually reacting to a Renaissance song! And it happens to be my favorite from them too!! Outstanding! 🥰

Back in the day we used to call this 'head music '. Not everyone's cup of tea, but superb musicians.😂. I haven't heard this for near 50 years 😮😮
Fantastisch, Erinnerungen kreisen in meinem Kopf, als ich das zum erstenmal hörte war ich geflasht, muss so 1973 gewesen sein

This is why real singers refer to their voice as their instrument.
Great pick! Saw them pretty much every time they played the Capitol theater in Passaic, New Jersey. Terrific band and Annie's voice is amazing.
"Carpet of the Sun", was a great song. You give Sandy Denny a look at.Who knows where the time goes is a great song.
WOW!! You have uncovered a vastly underrated and relatively unknown progrock group. 👍
Wow! This was wonderful! Masterful talent!
She studied opera her ability to hold notes shows it
Annie Haslam!
Please check out the Live At Carnegie Hall version! It's the best live rendition out there.
missed this somehow!
Sarah, since you stuck your toe into the Renaissance pool, how about trying Can You Understand from them? Thanks in advance.
So, now music I've been listening to for over 50yrs is getting noticed?
Sarah, your voice seems quite low. The video was fine though.
