Duke is my favorite character growing up on the Gi Joe cartoons, I have both variants of v1 and I have the Chinese variant with the different arms, I'm glad Duke had some good figures made, v1 is the best and my favorite but I do like v2, v3 and v4

Thank you for this video review. Duke is my number one, all time favorite Joe as well as Joe leader. This is my top favorite figure. Duke is the sole reason I became interested in G.I.JOE. I watched the cartoons, but was way more into the comix; so I always considered Duke pretty much redundant of Hawk. I just never felt he was particularly legitimately necessary. He was even so physically similar to Hawk that aspects of Hawk's appearance were changed to differentiate them. Changing or diminishing a previous character to promote a new one never particularly endears the new guy for me. It also didn't help that the cartoon's chain of command excluded all of the original Joes except for Hawk; and maybe would've discounted him in favor of Duke if possible. PS - Who ever that is at the end looks so much like the figure it's almost unnerving. If I were casting a G.I.Joe movie I'd have to give that guy a shot. If he can act, they'd have to write him in even if there hadn't already been a Duke role in the movie! Seriously, is he for real or somebody's CGI?
When I was in the Army in the late 90s, there were still a handful of Vietnam Vets still on Active Duty - all in senior command positions, of course - 30 year career types. So, a little bit of clarification on the First Sergeant vs. Master Sergeant thing - it's technically about the duties of the position, rather than more administrative, and they absolutely do interchange. So then you might have a Master Sergeant, who (if I remember correctly, cannot pin the rank of First Sergeant, until completion of the school - pinning on the rank is a big deal). And then, that is usually the top rank of the unit most soldiers first come into (Company, Battery, Troop, etc) - and "having your own company" (sometimes, even the same company as your first one - I"ve know two guys who did that) - and big bad mean First Sergeant, gets that hard-earned reputation. It is seen as the ideal rank to retire as - and people usually get there around their 20 year mark, and retire. However, if that person wants to pursue E-9 (which also has two ranks Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major, and Sergeant Major of the Army, for the same purpose) - so they might move "up" by filing an administrative position at the Battalion or Brigade levels, as a Master Sergeant again, and attaches to command team, and then can pick up the career development for E-9. So really, the flip flopping wasn't entirely incorrect - *though entirely lazy* - but they really should have promoted 90s Duke to E-9 and just called him the "Sergeant Major" - and I guess Command Sergeant Major with Star Brigade?😂🤣 Also, I think the weapon is more likely based on Smith and Wesson 76 (to my knowledge, the H&K was never built with a folding wire stock, at least not in major production - it uses a collapsing butstock). And that dog-leg folding mechanism... looks right off the 76. And the 'Nam Vet Joes (especially Stalker) - would have been familiar with it. The magazine matches early MP5 straight magazines, not the S&W M-76 and its varaints, which had a single vertical rib and no texturing on the front. The M-76 also has a circularly perforated heat shield. To be honest, the the "M-32 Pulverizer" looks like an MP5 lower receiver with a fictional upper and receiver extension. @@calanon534 It's the folding stock that really nails it to the M-76 for me. The magazine - ehhh... it was clearly designed for the toy to "grip" - and the M-76 had a vertical mag. The "upper" is kind of FAL like... I mean, we are talking about a toy, not a replica - but, it's also fun conversation. I also noticed, in newer vids, Hoodie is getting a lot wiser on his weapons - he's paying attention to our comments. I recently picked up the new Destro - and since his accessory rifle is pretty much useless, I subbed in an MP5 from a "back-wall" action figure toy kit from Walmart - and it really looks good. Back-wall toys, aren't so bad these days - and I would venture to say, with some obvious exceptions - they are far superior to the Joes of the 80s. Walmart back wall, ain't a bad place to shop.
@@calanon534 Actually - on second review of that M-76... hmm, you're right the stock doesn't match... I still don't think it's HK though. The hinge is top and bottom of the receiver, unlike the M-76, and the HK sliders... Hmm... 🤔

My childhood Duke had the flag decal and included the plain/chipboard back filecard. I ordered pretty early.
When I got my send away Duke I was so happy! Then i broke his binoculars lol. Got him on card later on and took care not to break them again.

I had the '83 Duke and lost his weapon pretty earlier on. It got replaced with an FN FAL from a spare weapons pack.
