Hi, new subscriber here!, thanks for all your education videos. Im from latam. And i decided to learn data science through coursera platform. But i have a doubt, do i need a college degree to get a job as a data scientist? or is enough to have this certifications? (ibm, google, stanford, etc)
It is pretty tough to get a data scientist job without at least a bachelor's degree in *something*, preferably math / cs / software. Of course it is possible and has been done before, and the certificates are one of the many things that can help. You will really have to prove your passion for it though, with a phenomenal portfolio, which I cannot say how to stand out as that's up to you. Hope this helped!
@@GregHogg hi! thanks for answering, i really appreciate it. I do have a bachelor degree, but not a college degree. Im really fascinated by data science, in your opinion, do you think it's worth a try? or i should learn something else?
Hi Greg, thanks a lot for this video - just what I needed to know! About those prerequisites: Do you believe a machine learning course that was not so heavy on the deep learning is enough for the data science nanodegree? I'm currently more interested to get a fuller picture of end-to-end data science process than dwelling on my machine learning skills. Cheers, Balthasar
Take my courses at mlnow.ai/!
I will definitely be checking this out!! Thanks for the amazing review!! 😄😄😄
Awesome, and no problem!
Wow I start Tuesday for front end web development and I wasn’t aware they wanted you to already know certain things.
Do they?
Great review, bro. Thank you!
No problem!
I will definitely be checking this one out, looks great. Thanks!!
Great to hear, and you're very welcome!
Thanks for all the great content Gregg!
You are very welcome 🙂
Thank you for teaching me. I check out it.
I never did explore Udacity very much, but I guess I'll begin with the ML stuff which you discussed in the very beginning. Thanks for the content!
Sounds good! Would you like me to review that stuff as well?
@@GregHogg yes
Thanks for your efforts
for a masters graduate in DS, would you recommend this over ibm andrew ng courses? I need real world skills to practice on but the price seems steep.
No I would suggest the Coursera stuff over this

@@RookieSith I don't understand the difference, do you mean you have a university degree? And yes of course I promote learning data science!
I actually paid for the data science course, I have no prerequisites but I started studying python today.... will that be a problem?
I guess you'll find out, maybe!
How did it go ? I'm in similar situation and considering this course. Please share your experience.

You're very welcome :) and Hmm I think I would recommend some more deep learning first but you never know!
Does nanodegree help you get a job, if you are a fresher??
For sure it would help.
Can I enrolled in free ?? I don't need certificate.. it is possible.?? Or are you provide your enrolled I'd and password so I am learn data science.
I do not believe Udacity is free
thx! I am in
Cool enjoy!!
Do you know a free and good course of data science ?
IBM Data Science (no certificate), ml by Andrew ng, deep learning specialization all on Coursera
@@GregHogg with certificate?
@@ElBasraoui Generally you have to pay for certificates worth anything.
