Slacks you should know: In the real-life Journey to the West, the Monkey King was trapped under the 500 year mountain by the Buddha. The Monkey King was challenged by the Buddha to escape from the palm of his hand. With one somersault, the Monkey King flies to the end of the world. There he sees five pillars and decides to write a phrase on one to prove he was there. When he comes back, the Buddha reveals that the five pillars at the end of the world were merely the fingers of his hand, as proven by showing the Monkey King's writing on his finger. Before the Monkey King could escape, the Buddha flips his palm over and changes the five pillars/fingers into the mountain.
The story suggests that the reason Monkey King couldn't escape the Buddha's palm is because the Buddha is one with the universe because of his enlightened status- in Dota 2 perhaps Void Spirit's nature as being one with the void of the universe also came with similar perks.
I mean, it's logical that Void Spirit is older than Io, since before there is something, there is only void. That's what I think at least lol

Slacks, the Brewmaster's lore says this " He wanders the land, striving toward enlightenment through drink, searching for the answer to the ancient spiritual schism. Hoping to think the single thought that will unite the spirit and physical planes again.". I think that the great confluence will be this, the unification of spirit and physical planes.
Can we learn who tf the Shopkeeper is and why hes in the middle of the battle of the Ancients??
I know for fact he has a middle eastern backgrounds.
The Shopkeepers are actually a neutral party tasked by the gods with safeguarding powerful weapons and relics so that they cannot be abused, or at least not for very long. Roshan made the mistake of killing a Shopkeeper for the Aegis and was cursed for it, and two thieves that stole from a Shopkeeper were turned into creeps.

It makes sense that Void Spirit was there first, as someone else commented before there is something there is void.
Void Spirit actually has a monologue about this in game, divided in a few voice lines that you can hear by left-clicking him repeteadly :
"Before there was the spirit, there was the void. Before there was anything, there was the void."
"Long after -- though only a moment in the scope of the whole -- there came...a being of great power.
"
"Still without comprehensible form or voice of my own, I felt this titan's hammer fall and the four children scatter." (He had no body yet but Void Spirit already existed when Elder Titan did his thing and the fundamentals were created)

"In that cascade of moments, I knew I must learn to compose a form capable of interacting with the material plane." (Then he creates his physical form)

A true man of culture.
The confluence is the draw. Void waits for the one time where there will be a draw and when Arc Warden traps the Ancients is when the 3rd Ancient comes and thats the final fight and is also when all timelines merge which makes all the rivers merge. This explains why Void is missing from all the previous fights and also how his foresight works, he observes everything that happens in Artifact and only joins the one fight which he knows there will be a draw which will always happen on every single different world where the battle of the Ancients is taking place. Underlords happens during the merging of all the worlds and timelines which is why all the different heroes can fight themselves and most likely when the strongest version of all the heroes achieve victory, Void will lead them into battle against the 3rd Ancient.
What if the confluence is the time when everyone blaming everyone after the game in the lobby chat.

The whole thing with Void "knowing" everyone isn't to be taken the same as the other heroes knowing each other, since he basically knows every hero
Throughout the resets, Void started manipulating the various characters' lives in order to serve his own purposes, with the reset we're in being the one where he managed to finally manipulate EVERYONE so that the cards were right for the great confluence
Brew master seems like he would be interesting considering his relationship with the spirit brothers and how his ultimate doesn't have him turn into a void panda

I personally think Valve is hinting at a new IP, a Siltbreaker-esque action RPG that will be released and the story taking place is you selecting a hero a fighting off the "traveller" that ES and OD talk about.

@@spyrall2210 VR wouldn't really suit an RPG where you're likely to spend hours at a time playing. People would get sick of wearing it all the time. It's better for action-adventure games with short playtime.
They will definitely be expanding on their VR department after the success of Alyx though.

Alright, theory building on this
Void spirit tells the Ancients, and Arc, "Hey, chill, if you do this, the universe is gonna be stuck in a loop forever, we got this". If the third ancient theory is correct, at this point, the third (the Nether, Abyss, whatever it's called) comes from beneath the earth and unleashes forth a "demonic" plague.
This ends up being the confluence - the joining of the powers of the Dire and Radiant created the Nether, which then came out of the ground (an Upheaval), which then causes a great conflict between the forces of the Nether and the rest of existence (or at least the inhabitants of Roo)
Now, where this breaks is the fact that Earthshaker's arcana speaks of an "outer threat", which doesn't sound like what you'd call a demonic invasion coming from within the planet. OD and Void Spirit also talk about something coming, however they aren't as specific as ES in saying that it's from "the outside", merely that something is coming (OD's lore states that there is both a within and without threat, VS merely talks about a conflict)
Whatever it is will most likely be revealed at TI10 (if it happens at all with the pandemic going on). I think it's likely that if the above is true, it might be a full-on strategy game? Characters aligned with the Radiant vs characters aligned with the Dire vs characters aligned with the Nether? Maybe. It would be kind of funny if Dota was the thing that revived RTS', even partially, when it kind of took part in making them less popular by introducing a simplified version and creating an entire genre.
Another possibility is ANOTHER giant overhaul for dota, even larger than the talent and jungle item overhauls.
But we most likely won't know till TI10 or 11.

Honestly, MMOs have been kind of lacking for the past 15 years - they're either a 10 year old poorly optimized korean mmo, or "WoW... again", so I'd be glad for a new good one

The great confluence might be a moment where all dota 2 world possibilities (matches or branches of itself) not actually merge, but might be accessible to each other, allowing its inhabitants to move across these realities.
This explains the chaos, and maybe misery, Void Spirit mentioned, and also why Underlords have the same heroes fighting each other for 'mere coin'.
You know, the collapsing timelines theory would explain why there are copies of the heroes fighting each other in underlords. And who knows, maybe the upgrade mechanic in underlords for the heroes is their timelines melding into one causing a stronger version of that hero to come.

Can i take a guess on that? How about the Great Confluence is a sort of an race to a safeplace? Maybe after all the possible Time rewinds are used, the world as we seen it in every battle will collaps and theirs only one way out. Both Sides, Radiant and Dire, with their Heros chosen, wanted to get into that safezone that opens up. In knowing, that there is not enough space for everyone, Void Spirit left the void, choose a side and his Comrades in arms, to get into the Portal. But there is something they all didnt know. The Portal leads them into the shattered World, were they have to fight again. Together, against the dark force that was hidden behind that portal. Earthshaker could be the key, with the ability to open (or close) the portal. A new different Battle begins, with new Foe´s and Hero´s. Dota 3 :-) (Im sry for bad english btw, maybe some of u thoughd the same?) greeeeeeeeeetz!

One day, we are casually playing dota 2 and then you finally destroyed one of the ancients but the game continues and suddenly the destroyed ancient restores itself and changed its color to green then you and the opposing team becomes one team and need to destroy the remaining ancient. You and your team are suddenly controlled by the 3rd Ancient because the third ancient wants to destroy both dire and ancient so that it can rule the Dota 2 earth itself. Then Void spirit and his allies are the ones who defends the remaining ancient to battle the great confluence which was you the player all along.

Probably the great confluence refers to also Hoodwink's refer, The Ragnarok. As she's a messenger from Yggdrasil. The worlds or 9 realms might fuse and will lead to destruction.
There's an artifact that Hoodwink refers, a dagger or a sword that binds a fenrir like animal in which if it was released the start of Ragnarok will start, and Hoodwink said that it was gone and the animal was released

The alternative to the branching timeline idea is that the guilds of Artifact have discovered the right timeline that ends in a tie, and in that timeline LC did fight sorla Khan, Underlords did take place, etc etc.

The meddling of the Sapphire Conclave finds one timeline where the ancients die at the same time. It involves legion commander losing stonehall to Sorla Khan, making underlords universe canon. But, when both ancients die, it causes the real enemy (3rd ancient?) Going loose. That explains why only now void spirit shows up, the final timeline where both ancients die

Maybe you right. There will be a new feature on dota 2 that transfer you to a new map when you win a game along with all your teamates. On that map you will fight the ultimate battle against the true enemy of the game (while wearing cowboy hats)
Buttcannon here: The "confluence" is a new Valve IP 'Dota 3'. An ARPG based on Dota (which might be presumably a result of how successful the community's reception is to the Siltbreaker game mode). Heroes of both Dire and Radiant will have to join forces to defeat the "3rd Ancient" before the "upheaval" destroys the world which we know of.

Theory, Arc warden traps the ancients, but if its a merging of time, millions of them get trapped at the same point in time merging back into the original sentient building, contaminated in all becoming something else that can destroy everything.
Thus void cant see it, as it is involved in time.

So glad to see these videos again, I've been in a dota 2 slump not in the mood to play and these videos are making me miss it.
What if the great confluence is the merging of Dota2 and League of Legends since the creators of Dota 1 split ways.
DOTA MMORPG? If the confluence merges the timelines, then there would be multiple copies of heroes. "Friend or Foe", because each timeline has different team compositions, will follow void spirit's lead to prevent, stop, or reverse the upheaval, a common enemy.
Just a thought.
