    This is a fantastic hybrid. Looks great too. If you're in a Prius or thinking about getting a Prius, you NEED to seriously consider this car. I love my 2018 Ioniq, this car is not getting enough buzz.

    The car she is testing is a 2016 model, but she helped me choose the 2019 ioniq premium which now has also paddle shifters.plus wireless phone charging , the car is very good for long distance driving ,and on our bad roads here in the uk it does not get to unsettled, rear seat head room has been no problem for any body that has been in the back of the car.

    Got the Hyundai hybrid Premium SE model recently. (2018 -UK) Loving it. Easily the best car I have ever had. Early days but averaging 62 mpg although I did have it in the sport mode a few times which makes it feel a different car again. Have to get used to a silent car on start up. Looks stunning in the platinum silver finish and much better looking than the Prius. Dual clutch automatic super smooth.

      Dream Box great to hear it. I’m at the brink of buying the Ioniq Hybrid Ultimate myself. My only hesitation is I live in New England/USA where snow can be substantial and what’s most popular here are AWD SUVs because of that. I love the Kona for its AWD capability, but the KONA EV won’t even come here for at least another year, plus it’s too expensive for me. Any thoughts about how the Ioniq Hybrid night do in snow with snow tires, since you’re already driving one? Appreciate any insight.

      Olhos Verdes the Kona electric is front wheel drive. I have a Ioniq premium SE (love it - very good car - I get 70mpg (Uk gallon) all the time and my best was 93mpg) and in the 1” of snow we had in the Uk this year it was rubbish, I put it down to the narrow Michelin energy tyres maybe on snow tyres it would be better?

    Hyundai has made these three Inoniq's models a very serious contender. I bought the hybrid Blue version. Nearly 100% happy with it, just a few things could make it better, IMO. For price alone, amazing.

    At least in the US. The Blue gives us Android Auto and Apple Car Play, keyless start and entry, and back up camera (which is mandated here). The Premium is hardly worth the extra $6000 USD. The Premium also takes a decent HWY MPG hit. Packaging and pricing in the US doesn't make much sense.

    not sure why people make a big deal about having a lip to load into the trunk? it makes people seem lazy to say it's a problem. I would just show it, and describe it, but to make it sound like i'm going to throw my back out trying to load into it is a little ridiculous. good review otherwise. shes nice to look at and listen to and I was glad to have an active comparison to prius.
    finally, she said "if you're looking for a car that nice on the environment....", I hardly think a car with big ass batteries is nice to the environment. it's possibly nicer to the greenhouse, but definitely a bruise to the environment as a whole.

    • @MrDuncl

      IMHO a far bigger problem is on the Prius Plug In where the boot floor is higher than the load lip leaving hardly any cargo space.

    Really awesome review, the full EV Ionic is really appealing. Just two small details never look over your shoulder when reversing the mirrors and camera should always be set to take care of the view. It also helps to reverse into a parking. The second is;- only the U.S. is still using miles everywhere else including the UK uses metric as in km’s. Love the blog I’m adding it to my list

    • @alexanderc5216
      @alexanderc5216 6 лет назад +5

      Clint Thomas....eh nobody in the uk uses km....have you heard of brexit? Is that why all uk cars have their speedometers in miles per hour ?

    • @clintthomas1854
      @clintthomas1854 6 лет назад +3

      Alex Calder, no sorry mate every country (except the US) in the world officially uses the metric system, all schools teach it. It will take time for all the cars and people to convert. In Aus some older blokes still use inches but in South Africa no one knows how long a yard is. It’s because the metric system is a far simpler system, and that’s the choice of the engineering world. 😊

    • @4ndrewthe
      @4ndrewthe 6 лет назад +4

      Clint Thomas UK use the British mile actually.

    • @clintthomas1854
      @clintthomas1854 6 лет назад +2

      The4ndrew, fair enough, can you tell how long 0.83 of a UK mile is? Please keep it in hole numbers, If it helps you can use yards, feet and inches. Or just convert to metric like everyone else.

    • @4ndrewthe
      @4ndrewthe 6 лет назад +2

      Why convert anything and if i needed to i'd drop a quick goog. And that would be 1461 yards, but then again most would call it a mile just as you wouldn't tell people that you just popping out for a 903m stroll.

      @derxen 6 лет назад +5

      And heavier, slower, lower safety rating, more expensive and a little less room in the trunk. For a family man with younger kids (like I am) the Ioniq makes way more sense. Headroom in the back is only an issue for adults or tall teenagers. I have the Ioniq Premium for about a year now and love it very much!

    I am VERY interested in an EV so thank you for the video and information. However I am waiting until they get them where they are practical. First they need to get the price down to the same level as a gas model of comparable size which would be around half what they are asking. Second they need to get range up to around 500 miles using full heat or air. And third they need to get the charging times down to around 10 or 15 minutes empty to full charge.

    • @colinoverton8897
      @colinoverton8897 6 лет назад +2

      John Smith I think you're going to be driving petrol cars for a very long time.

    • @EMichaelBall
      @EMichaelBall 6 лет назад

      Most people drive less than 100 miles a day, and can charge overnight with a standard 220V outlet (and typically a dedicated charge manager connected to it, known as an "EVSE", although the newest Nissan Leaf does away with the need for one). Also, there's development in solid state batteries, so you should soon be able to charge 100 miles in five minutes (this is a conservative estimate, BTW). Basically, auto makers will soon be able to limit range to 250-300 miles or so, in the name of reducing battery size, weight, and keeping the sticker price lower. Quick chargers will become more plentiful, as electric cars become more mainstream, and plentiful numbers of chargers will limit the need for more range storage in batteries.

    • @JohnSmith-ug5ci
      @JohnSmith-ug5ci 6 лет назад

      Michael Ball, the problem is while average driving numbers may sound good they do not take into account those times we take longer trips (vacations) which make the current EV impractical. Also even if a person NEVER used the EV of today for anything except those short average driving you mentioned there is the unreasonable prices. Until they get the distances of the EV to go further, have charge times the same as filling a gas model, and the initial purchase price the same as a gas model these things are not practical.

    • @EMichaelBall
      @EMichaelBall 6 лет назад +1

      Even on vacations, I doubt the average driver drives more than 300 miles per leg. They need to stretch, eat, pee, etc. It's all a perfect time to charge the car. Get a quick charger at most rest stations, gas station, etc., and you will satisfy the needs of most vacationers. Prices of electric cars will come down as more batteries are created (and economies of scale come into play). Part of the strategy of keeping the sticker price down (to the point that they're priced similarly to gas cars) will be to keep the batteries smaller, and therefore cheaper per battery to produce.
      Even in the meantime, electric cars are perfect as a second car for homes with garages, as long as you treat them as a basic commuter car. You charge them at home while the car is just sitting there, anyway, so there's no time spent at a gas station at all, and the car spends no more time than normal sitting around. They're more reliable than gas cars, as they have far fewer moving parts, so there's also less maintenance (and no more oil changes!). For a commuter car, I'd rather buy a used 2016 Nissan Leaf than a new Toyota Corolla (between the two, the '16 Leaf sticker price is cheaper, BTW). There's serious day-to-day practicality in all of that. As for vacations, either use the gas car you own, or rent a gas car.

    • @JohnSmith-ug5ci
      @JohnSmith-ug5ci 6 лет назад +1

      Michael not true. First off why pay 20,000 dollars more for an electric to have for a second car? That makes no sense. Second no EV today in the US can go 300 miles and charge in 10 to 15 minutes. The EV of today is a loser. No the EV is NOT more reliable than the gas model. That is just dumb to suggest. Spending 20,000 more on an EV than a gas to go less in distance, take 10 times as long to fuel, and never even breaking even is not wisdom. I have no problem if people admit that they buy one just because they want to be on the cutting edge, but when they try and make them seem practical they are lying through their teeth.
