Hey Keith! What a cool experience! I've been to Badlands NP repeatedly, yet never really made use of the open hiking policy they have but rather stuck to the established trails. Next time, I'll definitely try to venture out like you did! BTW, those birds you were following were wild turkeys, no peacocks. Best wishes, Markus
Beautiful Badlands!! One of my favorite places…I’ve never done the entire loop but hiked out to Deer Haven…I love the seclusion and NO people compared to the main trails in the park…thanks for sharing!
I was just out there. I hiked at the Castle Trail 👣. I first packed one gallon into my pack. After that, I packed the essentials. I too just had breakfast bars. There was too much Canadian smoke in the air to get a good night's view!
I didn't catch the reason why from the video - why did you end up doing the long day to close things out instead of camping? Just curious for my own planning.
Thanks for the comment Phil. The heat got to me on the second day about midday, so I decided to finish the loop in two days. The adrenaline was flowing.
Most priceless sign I've ever seen at the beginning of the video a building has a sign that says casino, live bait. Talk about your one-stop shop

Thank you! Was wondering what they were! It’s definitely wild and an experience. Hope you get to next time! Appreciate it!

Thanks Kristal! Amazing solitude! Deer Haven is a great camping spot.

Sorry about the smoke! Good call on the breakfast bars. Hope you had a good hike Miles!
Looks like a great trip. Love the astro timelapse too.
Thanks Nickelinho!! My first one of the Milky Way. I’ve been to Cardiff. Nice Welsh hiking video.
9:24 I think those birds are actually turkeys.
I couldn't tell what they were! They weren't sticking around to say hi.
