I watched this game in Tallahassee in the dorms with about 35 people crowded around the TV. When our last drive ended, and we lined up to punt, we were disappointed because we thought Clemson would have a short field and maybe get a FG. No one deserved to lose that game. We were not expecting a trick play. When Leroy Butler got the ball and got around the corner we EXPLODED I am shocked we didn't knock the roof off. That was Bobby Bowden and FSU football you had to watch it was amazing all through the 80's and 90's. Clemson was deadly that year and came to Tally the next year, in 1989, and tricked FSU on a special teams play and won. FSU fell way behind then had a huge unbelievably rally that fell short when a FB fumbled late in the game. Like I said, that was FSU football the games were epic win or lose.

I am a forever Tennessee Vols fan. We were fortunate enough to beat Bowden in 1998 for the title. God love you Bobby, you were such a fabulous coach and you were damn good for college football. Nothing but love and respect to you and those awesome FSU teams you created. Hoping both of our programs return to glory, and we both have one thing in common: utter hatred for the Florida Gators. :)

Bobby always had fun. He was willing to do something deep in his own territory, that few coaches would attempt - especially against a good opponent, in a tie game. A few years Later, I went to a Clemson-FSU game in Death Valley, but the Seminoles crushed the Tigers in that one. A great atmosphere, but FSU OWNED the ACC for a decade until UVA final,y beat them I Charlottesville on a Thursday night. Always fun to watch Bowden's team.

I've seen a lot of trick plays and well I'm not that old I'm 27 but I thought in my opinion the best trick play was the Boise State lateral vs Oklahoma in 2008 and then the play afterwards and also oregon Dennis Dixon the statue of liberty, but the puntrooskie definitely beats both by alot

I was a boy of 13 or 14. On the game broadcast the camera wasn't on Butler. The footage here is of an alternate camera. In other words the camera was on the wrong guy for 2 or 3 seconds. It was crazy. You know it's a true trick play when you fool the camera man.
