my god those houses must be pounded by huge storm waves, I bet some have been flooded many times over the years they have lived there, bless them all, I wish them well....
Absolutely, living in a coastal village like Crovie comes with its challenges, especially during stormy weather. The resilience of the residents is truly commendable. Your thoughtful words and well wishes are appreciated. It's a community that has weathered many storms, both literal and metaphorical.
Crovie is my fave place in the world to go to. My grandfather was born in one of the cottages there. Most of the cottages there are now holiday homes. Crovie is one of those places i take the dogs for peace and quiet and always come away feeling happy. Lovely video👌
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the video and felt like you were actually walking there with me. It's wonderful to know that the video provided an immersive experience. Thank you for watching and for your encouraging words!
At 15:09 you'll see a bedroom at the top left of the house next to the red phone kiosk. That was where my brother was born as I watched lol. He was the first baby born in Crovie in sixteen years. My sister would later be born in Gardenstown, next door to Crovie. I was the first child, and I was the only one with the patience to be born in Banff hospital, lol.
What a wonderful piece of personal history and connection you've shared! It's truly touching to hear about the first baby born in Crovie in sixteen years and the special bond your family has with the area. The fact that you have such a unique connection to these places makes the video even more meaningful. Thank you for sharing your story, and it's moments like these that highlight the rich tapestry of human experiences woven into the landscapes we explore. Your insight adds depth to the video's perspective. Wishing you and your family all the best, and I'm glad to have been able to capture and share a glimpse of these special places!
Here's another piece of history that eventually led a colleague to inform a Norwegian writer who was writing a book about Crovie and Gardenstown that she was working with his great grandson. My great grandfather on my dad's side answered the door one night when it was dark. A man was standing there asking for directions to Macduff and Banff. My great grandfather told him what he needed to know and that was that until some time later when he found out that the man at the door was a spy! It was during WW2.
Thank you for this special video. I’ve heard of villages close to the sea and wondered how they survived high tides and bad storms. With the planet warming as they say it is - it’s concerning for lovely places like this. Cheers for sharing your visit there.
You're welcome! Crovie is indeed a unique gem by the sea. The resilience of these coastal villages against harsh weather and high tides is truly remarkable. It's true, with climate changes, these places face challenges. It's vital to cherish and protect these beautiful spots for future generations to enjoy. I'm glad I could share the beauty of Crovie with you.
That's such a wonderful connection! Crovie is a beautiful place, and it must be special to see your great grandmother's house in the video. Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us!
That's spot on! The weather in Crovie can be quite something, and positioning the houses that way might just be the smartest way to face the elements. It's amazing how the environment influences the architecture in these coastal towns.
Up until a few minutes ago, i didn't even know that this place existed. Thanks to Facebook for introducing me to this beautiful, peaceful village. Must be pretty scary at high tide.
It's amazing how social media can bring hidden gems to our attention! Crovie is, indeed, a beautiful and peaceful village, and it's a pleasure to introduce you to it through our video. We're delighted you enjoyed the video and had the chance to discover Crovie. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 😍🙏
Terrific visit to this lovely village. It looks adorable so close to the water but I would be wary of high tides. We get king tides here where I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and that can mean a height of 1 meter or more difference. Are these houses let out for holiday lets? I love the landscape surrounding the village too. Thank you for showing me around. 😊
Thanks for your comment. So glad you enjoyed watching my video 😍. Yeah, i believe there is a tiny cottage there for holiday lets. you can check it at www.lastminute-cottages.co.uk/ if it is still available. Crovie, Pennan, and Gardenstown are tiny villages lie on the attractive north coast of Aberdeenshire. Pennan is very similar to Crovie and this week there will be video about it. I hope you enjoy it.
I understand your perspective. It's unfortunate that sometimes we might feel hesitant about visiting new places due to concerns about how we'll be received. As far as i know, the majority of Scots (96%), agreed with the statement that everyone in society, regardless of race or ethnicity, has a shared humanity and should be treated with dignity, according to the Testing Times report. Keep spreading positivity and embracing the richness of our diverse world! 🌍❤️
Thank you for watching and for your comment! I appreciate your input and the correction. You are absolutely right; Crovie is indeed a north eastern coastal village, not in the highlands. I apologize for the oversight in my video. I'll make sure to be more accurate with my geographical references in the future. Thanks for pointing that out and helping me improve the quality of my content. Your support means a lot! 😊

The house facing the pier with the shutters on it at 29:45 is where my great grandmother Grace Watt lived with her parents and six sisters.
That's such a wonderful connection! Crovie is a beautiful place, and it must be special to see your great grandmother's house in the video. Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us!

One reason the houses are end-on to the sea - Weather!
