As much as I like the atmosphere and mystery in Made in Abyss, when the female character (who I think is 9!) kept showing her naked parts to the robot, it turned me off and made me stop watching it. I get that those moments are suppose to show that the female character only sees the boy as just an object/robot but, it still just creeps me out.
The time travel aspect of Steins;Gate is so brilliant and original, as well as the characters being so loveable and fleshed out, that it puts time travel shows like Doctor Who to shame. Yeah, I went there!
To be more specific time travel is not an original thing in fiction. What new thing Steins;Gate does it how it focuses on how we think time travel itself works. Like how other sci-fis wil use time travel at the beginning or end of an episode but ignore it for the rest of the episode. Steins;Gate is a series that talks about time travel itself.
Even after watching Steins;Gate, I still am a big fan of Doctor Who Doctor Who focuses less on time travel but more on alien threats and “monsters of the week.” Steins;Gate’s conflict is a direct result of time travel, Okabe suffers for meddling with time, while Doctor Who uses time travel as more of a plot device. Either way, both shows are great in my opinion.
@@RyuLightorb actually, the attractor field theory of time travel is very original, it is in no other time travel stories, just putting that out there.
Agreed. There's few anime I find so amazing like this. The game is amazing as well. There is something very comforting about Steins Gate even though the anime is sad/happy.
So the girl who does Mayuri's voice did Chloe in Life is Strange. Both characters involving time and both characters lives at treat with the change in time... Sern confirmed.

+MrAJcosplay I don't watch Dr Who so that probably went over my head. Now please excuse me while I get over my inner fan boy over the fact that you just replied to my comment :)
I seem to be the only person I've seen catch this but in episode 21 of the dub I believe, Mayuri calls Okabe to check on him because Hashida told her he was acting weird and during Okabe and Mayuris call she references "the 4 ninjas" I believe she called it and named them off. Okabe then corrects her on their names and he lists off the 4 Saint Beasts names from YuYu Hakusho. Just thought that was pretty cool lol
Some further knowledge for Video gamer enthusiasts. In Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth (maybe others, IDK) there's a character named MAGES. who is an obvious persona of Okabe Rintarou in steins;gate. Her name comes from 5pb's parent company: MAGES.. A reappearing joke in the game is that MAGES. constantly calls Noire her 'assistant'. This may seem like an obvious throwback to Steins;Gate where Okabe calls Kurisu his assistant, but looking at the Japanese voice cast it seems to go a bit deeper, since Noire and Kurisu have the same voice actor in Japanese. And people wonder why I turn on Japanese voices for that game.
+Sea Cliff (Seacliff217) Also MAGES have an older sister called 5pb.(where her name comes is obvious). She have skills that can summon some characters from Steins;Gate like Mayuri, Kurisu and Itaru.

You missed one more historical reference ----> In episode 3 of Steins;Gate (2011), Okabe calls Kurisu, 'Mata Hari' for trespassing in their lab. Mata Hari was a Dutch spy and exotic dancer. She worked as a spy under allegiance of France and Germany during World War I to uncover nuclear secrets. That explains, why Kurisu replies back to Daru saying, 'could you please tell him I'm not a spy?'. I knew the references of John Titor, IBN (IBM), SERN (CERN) like 7 years ago before (Mata Hari and butterfly effect reference few years ago), apart from the time travel aspects as I'm a Science and Engineering student myself who also wrote papers; all this before watching the anime. Never loved a sci-fi anime as much as Steins;Gate.
+TurnaboutAdam About what's her real job? I mean the show almost broadcasts it, her real identity is the far bigger revelation but I see your point. Though to be fair, watching a "did you know" about a series almost implies spoilers.
