Making my defender seats tilt.

- When I installed Mazda RX8 seats in my defender I always intended to make them tilt so as to make it easy to get to the fuses, relays and battery hidden beneath. I never did until now, during this lockdown I have found enough time after work to actually get it done!

How about the same brackets at the front of the seats but using clevis pins to anchor them, would make raising them even easier.
I was thinking up some ideas too. The problem is stability and rigidity.
I thought maybe add a bolt with a hand screw to your idea to put load on the pin so the seat won't have any play.
87-95 wrangler passenger seats have two spring loaded hooks that grab onto a bar to let the seat swing forward for passengers getting in the rear and they're stable. So maybe stability isn't as difficult to get as I'm thinking it is.
I did consider replacing the front bolts with threaded pins with a hole through for an R clip but wasn’t sure they wouldn’t rattle.
Hi great video I’ve just bought some for my defender have you wired them up if so do you have a diagram or any instructions on what coloured wires go where?
I didn’t bother with the heated part just the adjustments part. I can’t remember the colours I used but I used the wires from the original heated seats. I think as I recall I just switched the power on and touched wires until everything worked. If you really need to know I can look tomorrow.

I only wired the powered part, I didn’t bother with the heated part. I can’t stand heated seats! I just wired them to the heated seat power so you just hit the heated seat switch , move the seat then switch it off again.

Hi gary, amazing stuff and well executed, can i ask, i assume you made the rail Mount for the seats? looks like a solid job, i'm planning on doing exactly as you did. Appreciate you're probably a busy chap but is theres a chance you can share what size steel you used for the runners? also, i assume you just bolted the front of the rails down? I was considering a quick release latch but am unsure if any are man enough. Any info would be hugely appreciated. Bests. Jon

Is the removable wheel a security measure?
Yes, once removed I have a lock that fits where the wheel was.

What offset to the left did you do for the seat ? Mine looks about the same but mine is catching on the drivers door on the plastic seat trim.
I didn’t put any offset at all. The switches for the motorised seat almost catch the door trim. If I want to adjust the seat I have to open the door.
If anything I kept it as far to the right as possible as i moved the handbrake and put a disco handbrake to the left of the seat.
