When i was in high school in Selkirk , i would catch a bus up North Main and take in all the action. ,on "Beaver Bus Lines" .I remember some of the seedy hotels on North Main, the Sutherland , Particia, Occidental, McClarin and the not so seedy Green Briar.
Alycia's offered up the best Ukraine food in the city (perogies were the best), great service too. Wow these pictures are nice and the North End of Winnipeg is a real gem some real smart and famous people came out of here.
Hah the Old Pumpkin Buses I used ride em from Main n Burrows to school. Someone should do a OG video all the1970 Banknrobbers like Eddie Eagle etc. Fucking eh to them Guys! Ha the Booze Cans ha was a kid but still remember that.
That’s Eddie in the photo that’s Eddie’s Place Pool Hall and barbershop my uncle is friends with him and used to take me there from time to time to get my haircut. That was on Sellkirk Avenue
I'm old enough to remember when Selkirk Ave was still a decent working class shopping area. It was ok up until the mid 80s.

I recognize most of these photos. Made sure I went into Oretzki's, before it closed for good, the wood floor still creaked!
Excellent memories … thanks for the vid.
Outstanding video man.. well done.

1:08 I lived on Forrest Avenue and remember when Dominion was IGA. I used to have to walk up these dark stairs in the back to use the washroom.

The good ole days.
Looks identical to parts of Edmontons central north side.
I expected to hear "Oh Canada". Looked like a typical Canadian city.
What school was the last one? Machray?
The last school was William Whyte elementary school on Powers St. and Magnus Ave. Torn down in 1977 and the the new one built at that location.
Nope. I went to Machray. Don't know this one, but it's not Machray.
I believe that last school was William White is a kid I used to climb over the big rod iron fence you see in the arch in front of the school
MyFam
And the Safeway is still there
Polson Ave, my auntie lived 1/2 a block from it for over 50 years.
Nor'tend!

Awesome photos but the Mozart soundtrack somehow didn't fit here. Too classy for Winnipeg.
I grew up on William Avenue during WWII, then moved to Perth in the North End. I like the music used.
I like the pictures but there no need for the music
There is a volume button for a reason...
