G'Day Matt, great stuff as always, we spent SA lockdown at the caravan park in Crystal Brook, one of our favourite spots in SA, and then another 6 days filming trains through Crystal Brook. Your video brought back great memories of this spot, we have stayed there many times in the past, one of the best I have found in SA. Regards Bill in lockdown Victoria.
There is nothing more to like than someone commenting on your video the day that they join RUclips. I will always respond thanking them for that. Anthony
Goodday Matt, Fantastic video, beautifully captured great quality all round. Great to see some greenery in beautiful SA. Once SCT start the steel train with there Chicom loco's that's going to keep you busy for sure. Cheers Louis 👍
Very nice work. If we ever get out of lockdown SA is on my list of destinations. I haven't been to that part of SA for over a decade and it will be good to get back there!
Another nice production Matt! I hope I can get down there before Xmas? My Architect wants to get things moving on to the next stage...as do i! I hope the interesting lash ups continue for a few months yet?? Cheers Gregg.
From locked down Victoria (again!), thank you for such a quality video. Great filming! With the 6MP4 cross, it would have been preferable to film the whole of both trains. Great to see so much freight on rail: I was last in SA in April 2021 so the country if anything looks even better than then (when it was good). Hopefully, good crops will be harvested.
Thanks, Edmund. We did film the whole of 6MP4, however, didn't show it to keep the video to a reasonable length. It wasn't the main target as we were more interested in showing 5DA2 due to its late-running and rarer consist. Stay in there! I'm sure lockdown will be over soon enough as the vaccine rollout continues to go strongly in the right direction. Matt - M&S Trains
Have been before Nick! It's a nice area with plenty of good spots especially around Dowds Hill. Will be up there at some stage soon for sure! Matt - M&S Trains
American fan researching for a trip to Australia next year. Can you explain the freights that have the passenger cars on them? Where do they originate and where do they terminate? Which lines do they run on? I assume it is only select trains. Is that for carrying a second crew?
The trains you're talking about are our long-distance cross-country trains running from Melbourne or Sydney to Perth. Crew Vans are only added in Adelaide or Port Augusta for the journey across the remote Nullarbor on the Trans Australian Railway, which takes about 24 hours to cross and requires two crews working opposite shift patterns. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Matt - M&S Trains
Many thanks great to see the landscapes of South Australia late winter
