- I recently had the pleasure to show Trev from Summit or Nothing around one of Snowdonia's classic hill climbs. We spent an afternoon scrambling up Moel Siabod's Daear Ddu Ridge. We had planned to camp near to the summit but the wind had other plans! Join us on our adventure..
Check out Trev's excellent channel- SUMMIT OR NOTHING and you can see his video of this trip at the link below:
• Moel Siabod (Snowdonia...
Great video Joss. Some great memories captured in crisp footage. Thanks again, Joss. Do it again soon!
Summit Or Nothing thank you Trev, will look forward to that mate👍
Brilliant Video Joss. Found your channel from Trev’s video, two brilliant videos of what looked a fantastic outing.
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, atb Joss
Love Moel Siabod I decided to do it in reverse last year and climbed down it was windy up there that day but glorious sunshine Great video and that curry making me hungry stay safe 💪💪👍🏴
Thanks buddy, a great route! Tell you what that curry was very welcome by the time we got to camp!
Nice one Guys , looked good up on those summits but not ideal for pitching on . wise choice to drop down out of the wind . Curry looked spot on and would warm you up nicely .. atb Dave..
Border Rambler cheers buddy, I have a favourite spot there, on a sheltered place near the summit- but it requires settled conditions👍
Nice seeing two legends in perfect harmony! When you were looking for a camping spot out of the wind, as you headed down to the treeline, if you had gone a bit left-facing down- there's an old cottage and walled area which would have given you some protection. A bit further to walk the next day though I guess.
Black Dog Vantrails thanks! Its an area I would have like to have seen more of. We decided to stay closer to the Capel Curig side for a quick dart in the morning, however I would like to see more of that area in particularly the wooded area itself. Thanks for watching- much appreciated👍
Moel Siabod has been on my list for ages, need to get my arse in gear. Great video as always Joss. Views looks fab from there, looked a great day walking up but like mountains can do things change. Great watch.
Alan Coles thanks mate- yes the wind was very strong- the camera doesnt do it justice but it was hard to keep the camera straight! Thanks for watching, atb Joss
Also be good to see you review or show us some of your gear you use in your vlogs just a thought
Just watched Trev's video on Summit or Nothing on his compilation with Cader Idris and wanted to see your version as well.
Thanks for coming over Paul, much appreciated, atb Joss
great video, loved the view as you came down what i guess was the other side of the mountain with the sun straight at you looked epic.
Martin Castein Landscapes thanks mate yes it was the view of Snowdon as we came down the other side👍👍
Stunning scenery again mate, just watched Trevs video too. Looked like a great trip, although you looked fresh as a daisy and Trevor looked shattered 😂
Camp Life bushcraft haha thanks Dan! It must have been the 6 hours in the car that did that😂 Hope to see you up these parts sometime mate👍
Great video Joss that looked a steep scramble but well worth the effort for those views.Atb Ana
A Girl Gone Wild thanks Ana its not too bad, really good and worth trying👍 thanks for watching, Joss
Just found your channel great video keep up the good work
shawn spencer many thanks! Trev’s video will be out tonight at 9pm if you want to see this one through different eyes! Atb Joss
Absolutely love that Joss - the footage from the summit especially was spectacular (and the morning, to be fair - a bit gnarly weather but the clouds looked stunning) Just posted my own Siabod videos from last weekend, it's such an underappreciated mountain. Daear Ddu is a real favourite.
Just subscribed, looking forward to checking out more of your vids - great stuff 👍🏻
All the best, Dan
Northern Monkey Dan nice one! Just watched your vid, you had fantastic conditions for it! Ive been up it many a time and only seen it as good as that the once, we camped just down off the summit with no wind at all, if you are on Facebook, check out Great Outdoors TV group and feel free to join us👍 atb Joss
@@jossthomas123456 Cheers Joss, yeah conditions were terrific, been lucky with Siabod most times. Pretty sure I know where you mean for the camp spot off the summit - with the unbelievable views over to Snowdon, The Glyders, etc, lovely flat, bouncy area of grass? - scoped it out for my next trip up there! 😄 Not on Facebook, I'm afraid, but I'll certainly be checking out the rest of your videos - probably commenting incessantly as well, so apologies in advance! 😁👍🏻
Cheers Joss - Dan
Northern Monkey Dan thanks mate, yes the pitch is about 250 yards to the north east of the summit and a perfect pitch (when there is no wind) thanks for the sub mate, will check out more of your channel too👍
I can confirm that I was viewer no 1 (I think) 😁. Great film lads. That curry looked lovely. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
Wild Camping Welshman thanks Jiffy. Trevs vid will be out tonight at 9pm👍👍 thanks for watching mate
Stunning mate love it. I’m a former Royal Marine, had my lower spine fused got fit recently and after 10 years of no yomping I’m ready to get going again. First place is snowdonia in few weeks start of gentle bit of wild camp just enjoy stunning snowdonia. Would love to see some food reviews on your meals to. What curry was that mate?
Thanks for watching buddy and hope you enjoy some adventures. The Curry was home made, vaccum packed and frozen. Defrosts while hiking. The rice is freeze dried rice from ‘tent meals’ you just soak in hot water and its readuy in no time. I dont usually eat so well on a trip but it was a treat having Trev come up👍
@@jossthomas123456 that’s a great idea I think I will do that as I cook a lot at home and bet it’s lovely to have some tasty home cooked meals well taking in them views. Thanks for the info on the rice.
@@RMinkjunkie the price of the rice has gone up lately but its good as you dont need much.
Nice one, Joss. I watched Trev's video this morning and now I'm pleased to have seen your view of things. All the best.
Olly Outdoors - Olly P-J thanks mate- I enjoyed Trevs video a lot. Id have filmed more myself but I had left the charger cable at home😀
Great atmospheric shots on the summit there Joss, and what an amazing sky! 👍👍👍 ATB Anthony
Anthony Payne thank you my friend. It was a struggle holding the camera straight in the wind! A lovely day. Atb Joss
A stunning performance gentleman. Well done Trev, living the dream up there. Great footage Joss, great views with some awesome cinematic footage. Well done chaps.
Looking forward to the swim next week in the Dee ;) ATB Dave Outdoors
+Dave Outdoors cheers my mate, it was a great day. All the best buddy- Im polishing that wetsuit as we speak😂
@@jossthomas123456 🤣😂🤣😂 I hope Trev has left a pilot hole 🤣😂
+Dave Outdoors 😳😳
Dave Outdoors its no wonder your banned off social media😂😂
@@jossthomas123456 that's right 🤜🤛
The music you use at the beginning of your videos is haunting especially especially when you
Cool Joss, was Trev expecting to climb Mount Everest?😁 stunning scenery mate, when you reached the summit and looked over towards the sun it looked like mars or a different world with the cloud cover and silloutte of the mountains. Quality overnighter. Loved it. Lee
Burton Outdoors I think he was a little apprehensive to start as scrambling can be quite full on if you arent used to the exposure and height, but this was an ideal route and he turned out to be a natural climber anyway. Tob job! Cheers buddy yes its those moments and fleeting glimpses of the landscape that make it all worth it. The gusts were 50mph at the summit so it made it hard to stay around and video stuff😀
Brilliant video Joss and great of you to get to share the views and weather with Trev. Siabod really offers so much and appreciate you sharing with us. ATB Andy GTGO.
Got To Get Outdoors nice one Andy we certainly were lucky. Looking out of the window this afternoon, this felt like an age ago😀
I was in Llangollen with the fam yesterday Joss - we climbed up to Dinas Bran and enjoyed the stunning views, and must admit I wondered what the local boy would be up to in this glorious weather. Chufed to see you showing Trev the ropes up there. Ace vid of what comes across as a hell of a cimb and camp. Bring on Dartmoor! Rich 👍🏻
Cotton Bud thanks mate it was a cracking day. Looking forward to hooking up with Trev in the new year. Hope you had a good day up the castle.. that would be a good camp. Would need an early departure to avoid the walkers👍👍
Take away that wind and superb weather, you sure that was Wales.....quality day mind, got to say, very well filmed and edited and great company. I had the pleasure of meeting Trev for a climb up Helvellyn and a wildcamp in the summer and he was a brilliant lad and perfect company. Loved the scrambling and the scenery was breathtaking and brilliant to hear the Summit or Nothing at the summit! Not the best of mornings but at least it was dry, although, a bit of a boggy walk out mind lol! Great watch, cheers Alan
Alan METALMAN - Outdoors thanks for watching mate. Yes Trev is a top bloke- I was pleased that we had weather like this, so we could see that cracking summit view. Atb Joss
Excellent video Joss - Wet my appetite! Off to that part of the world myself very soon and cannot wait! Really enjoyed this - some good camera work going on there - Just subbed 😀
Thanks buddy, much appreciated, new content coming very soon👍
Well done lads, superb scenery and curry looked wonderful. Keep’em coming Joss excellent as always atb Martin 👍
Martin Roche thanks mate- Trevs instalment will be out at 9pm tonight👍 much appreciate your comments, atb Joss
Nice one Joss, another good route. Appreciate the camera work. Never easy filming on mountain days when there's less than perfect weather and hands on climbing required with an overnighter pack too. I find it's easier to film when I'm solo too, always tend to just crack on with the trip when with others. Thanks for sharing fella 👍🙂
RickT Outdoor/Adventure cheers Rick. Yeah the conditions at the summit were quite blowy! Was hard to hold the camera straight! A great day nonetheless - ta for watching buddy 👍
Nice one Joss Trev lovely up there one of my favourites matey it has a bit of everything on it 👍👍 ATB
Northwales Bushcrafters thanks matey its a great day out.
I've got great memories climbing moel siabod with my nan and grandad, it was their fav mountain, even their cat was called siabod haha, it's a nice scramble, I watched one of your videos a few weeks back of you doing this scramble, good to see you out with Trev, looked an awesome time and a great video 👍 ATB
Gaziano Outdoors thanks buddy yes it is a great hike! It was a great trip and great company from Trev. Thanks for watching mate.
Great video Joss 👍🏼
Thanks Joe, much appreciated mate
Cracking video joss you have a great part of the country on you doorstep good to see trev with you the wind can be a bugger at times especially on the mountains as I'm starting to find out myself 😂😂atvb Jimmy 😎😎
Lundy's Wildcamp/Bushcraft thanks for watching pal- yeah its a nuisance at times but didnt stop us getting out- great trip. All the best mate, Joss
Snowdon is like another world. So pretty! Beautiful shots as always. Glad to see you didn't get blown away! Keep on exploring my friend x
+Worms Eye View thanks Pippa its a fantastic place- thanks for coming by and commenting, atb Joss
I used to work with a Sheffield lad, he used it all the time .......just means very lucky, (I hope) didn't expect to find it on Google! Keep up the good work!
+g4okt nice one👍
Absolutely brilliant 🤩 so wanna climb that mountain one day, now know what to expect now, thanks for filming your fabulous adventures xx

Hi Joss new to your channel... absolutely mesmerized at your content ... filming..commentary and photography is exceptional.. only dipped my toe in to see Trev up the scramble..
Adrian Watkins thank you very much! Your comments are much appreciated! All the best Joss
Hello Joss !
That was a nice hike . Climbing that rock hill must’ve been a bit hard good thing you didn’t have to come back the same way.
That sunset 🌅 was pretty nice 👍

My wife Hélène and I did a 84 days road trip last year in the Canadian Rockies and western United States whit our car and camping trailer . I am still editing and only half way done . We didn’t hike much because my wife has a bad knee so sometimes she sits and waits untel I am back .

Looks amazing, as Trev says there's not many mountains here in Cornwall, and it's a hell of a drive to get anywhere. I would love to do Snowdonia but it'll take some planning this end. Great vid Joss 👍👍
Druthian Outdoors fair play to him for making the journey. He did tell me about the awesome coastline you have down there though! Atb Joss
Excellent video Joss. The scrambling looked challenging without the camping gear so well done both of you. Views were fantastic and the curry looked nice, guess that wasn't a dried concoction out of a packet. It is rumoured the folks in Cardiff heard the 'Summit or Nothing' shout ! Regards Keith
Welsh Rambler haha thanks Keith. Was an honour to shout ‘summit or nothing’. Curry was all home made and bloody tasty (even if I say so!) I think ww deserved it by the time we ate. All the best mate, Joss
Just done two very taxing 13 hr shifts after which I felt drained and in need of something to help me wind down - I kept your wonderful Siabod climb and wild camp in reserve for just this occasion. Mate it did the trick, now chillin!..cheers!!!
freetrueandjust thanks, glad that you enjoyed it and that you found it relaxing! Trevs video is worth a watch too. I have a new video coming out this week. Atb Joss
Hi Joss, been off line for awhile and just catching up on your last two videos .. the abandoned quarry and this one ... absolutely brilliant, .. did'nt envy Trevor having to travel all that way back to Cornwall, we often do that trip :) ... thanks for sharing .. Rob
Rob thanks for popping by- much appreciated. Yeah its a long way for sure- glad the conditions were good for him. Atb Joss
Can't beat it on Siabod.....looked a great time, nice video Joss :-)
007vauxhall youre right there Paul. It never disappoints! Thanks for watching- much appreciated. Joss
Some fantastic views there, definitely worth the scramble that's for sure. Cheers for sharing atb.
Raymond Molloys Wild Camps & Micro Adventures great stuff- thanks for watching mate. Atb Joss
What a good video Joss, although yours always are, you two seemed to hit it off well, and that came across onscreen too. You both looked like you enjoyed it. Now you will have to pay a visit to Trev's part of the world. Thank you for sharing your time with us guys.
welshboyoo7 thanks my friend- really appreciate that, yes I have been watching his videos for a while and this was the first time we met up but it felt like I already knew him, really nice chap. Thanks for watching mate- we definitely will meet up again👍 atb Joss
Another great video, thanks. Your music selections compliment and add to the experience, so well done!
mr Strong thanks! Glafd you enjoyed that. Atb Joss
Stunning mate! Great to see Trev up in Snowdonia too!
Wild Astro thanks buddy, yeah it was a cracking day to be out. Atb Joss
What a sunset! Well worth the climb to see that!
Great journey Joss
I liked the way plans changed on this one Joss. It kept it exciting besides the adrenaline of the scrambling you both did. It was an action packed outing - you crammed a lot in and I think Trev went back a happy man. Well, you both did. Have a great week ahead. Mark
Wye Explorer thanks Mark- good to keep out options open and while we didn’t get great views in the morning, that summit view made up for that! Thanks for watching as always, you have a good week to my friend. Joss
@@jossthomas123456 That's a pleasure Joss. It's nice when the day unfolds to release the fog. I did comment a couple of days ago but There was no response so I deleted it and copied the same. Thanks for the reply. Any way, enjoy mate. Life is precious. Mark
Wye Explorer thanks Mark- I did see it the first time and replied to it, however I could only see it via the TubeBuddy app so I think RUclips is playing up again as it happened with a few of the other comments on this video. Like yourself I will always get back to every comment so if it happens again, best reloading it as that seems to work👍👍
You were 'spozzy' with the weather! Nice vid.
+g4okt Thanks! I had to google that but I think youre right, atb Joss
Breathtaking views, top work!
+NEEJER thanks my friend👍
Looks like a fantastic adventure 😁
+White Rose Adventures thank you, it really was. All the Best Joss
Well done, lads! That looked fun. And the views are so pretty. Shame you had to drop down but still looked like you guys had a great time! ATB Mari
Funsized Earthling thanks Mari it was loads of fun! The spot I had in mind is excellent but requires settled weather. We kind of knew early on it was a bit too windy for it so always good to keep options open! Im out with Mr Outdoors next weekend (not Haze!) if he can keep up 😂😂
@@jossthomas123456 Absolutely! Even further down I saw Trev's vid trying to set up his tent in blustery wind! haha.
Oohhh.. Not the one who likes his Vaseline, surely...?? LOL.
Funsized Earthling haha yes thats the one. I watched Trevs vid and thought it made the weather look worse😂 Its just a bit of Welsh wind, nothing to worry about😂😂
Joss Jezuz..good luck mate! Very brave of you to pair up with him. 🙈
Haha. To be fair, a bit of Welsh wind is A LOT of wind!
Some beautiful shots on the summit there - that curry looked well nice too!
woodyandy2001 thanks Andy- it tasted bloody lovely (even if I say so myself😀) I think we deserved it by the time we got there👍 thanks for watching mate.
@@jossthomas123456 I bet it tasted amazing by the time you got up there lol
👍👍
+Daz K thanks buddy
Morning Joss, those lakes that you passed, look good to camp around 😊. See you on your next one 😀
Billy`s Little BIG adventure channel thanks matey. It does indeed. Theres also a wooded lake on the other side called Llyn Diwaunedd which looks really good. If you ever fancy hooking up, would be great to meet up mate👍👍
@@jossthomas123456 Hi Joss, the meet up sounds brill mate. I have been looking around on the OS maps for some more wildcamping, but you know the place better that me .
Billy`s Little BIG adventure channel yeah or nearer Llangollen as well, if you fancy it sometime👍👍
