Why was Charles Manson so good at convincing people to follow him?
Today we will talk about serial killing again, but this show is different because our protagonist wasn’t the person who committed the murders. He was behind them, though, as the leader of a cult called The Manson Family. Some cults, although sometimes regarded by authorities as suspect, go about their days in peace. Others are not so benign.
Today we’ll look at one cult only, in this episode of the Infographics Show, Horrific American Cult Leader - Charles Manson.’

He was really charismatic I think. Cults play to our most vulnerable human desires and motivations.
He was mentally ill just like anyone who followed that idiot
Cults are born from single minded, limited intelligence individuals, why? be cause all of them one way or another related to religion, and religion itself is fairytale, fake and cult followers are even more foolish
@Frax Gamer To be fair, religions are just cults that have gained enough traction to become popular. Christianity was a cult to the Romans in their time, as Scientology is a cult today for an example.
@Frax Gamer True, but I would rather believe in skepticism than in hope to justify my pathetic existence.
@Frax Gamer I'm not worried, but I thank you for your concern. But I have studied the Christian religion/Theology, and I'm positive if the Christian God exists, I'll be burning in hell.
@Frax Gamer Well you would be right if Christianity is true. Yet should love be based on fear? That's the question. The love of Christ, over the fear of eternal damnation?

the narrator is a mangina he tried to justify Charles Manson mother selling him for a case of beer
@@Logan800 I didn't get that impression, all he said was that her upbringing is unknown but it could be a result of her behaviour. It's not justifying, it is merely trying to find a reason.

I did an essay report on this, and this wasn't just a mass suicide, many people were killed. Children were killed by having had the cyanide directly injected into their bloodstream. Anyone who resisted had the same thing happen to them or were at risk of being shot.

I beg to differ. This fantastic quote here perfectly summarizes why psychopaths and serial killers are so fascinating to study, and the chilling self-awareness that they actually possess towards their own actions. We can learn much from them, both good and bad.

Tarantino is the reason for at least 25% of the views
Manson is probably the most infamous criminal in American history. You're giving Tarantino too much credit.
I’m one of them
Charles Manson used the perpetrators’ weakness: family. he made them think that he is the “father” and he provided for each of them thus earning a sense of “obligation” to pay him back through following his orders.
He did not tell anyone to be killed. You can't even prove he did any of those things. That just what you need him to be.

It’s quite interesting someone as evil as Charles Manson had no problem with the ladies.
Lots of these kind of people were successful with women. I think it's because of their sociopathic nature, being charming, confident and charismatic and all that.
Sociopaths are charming but he also preyed on vulnerable young women and exerted control with drugs so...
just like Ted Bundy
Psychopaths often have charm, manipulation tactics, & confidence.
I love how you say psychedelics have the power to free the mind but can also release the demons you're hiding away. I feel like not many "fact channels" as I call them, besides infographics, takes this viewpoint and instead goes more scientific or anti drug.. Anyways just another reason infographics is in my top favorite 10 subbed channels.
The police did not initially suspect the Manson family. Some of them got busted for stealing dune buggies. One of the girls ended up in a cell with a prostitute. Tripping on acid, she made friends with the hooker, then confessed to the crimes. She also said that their next planned crime was to kill and dismember Frank Sinatra. The prostitute had once been lovers with Sinatra and still had a soft spot for him, so she went to the cops. And that is how the Manson family finally got caught.
