- This tiny Ammoon Pockrock miniature guitar multi effects unit is loosely modelled on earlier Behringer and Line 6 ideas. It does surprisingly well with some pretty hot lead tones.
This little thing has alot for the price, even for my electric violins it's alot of fun. I'm not disappointed
Agree 100%
I have the Line 6 Pod which I LOVE! But, I want one of these really bad because of the price! But many people are too picky and give too technical of a review on a product that is AMAZING for the price! I say this because of some people and their expectations!? So from my research I am coming to the conclusion that THIS POD IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Cool man, I love your enthusiasm! So many people expect too much from basic tools like this, you have to be realistic, which you clearly are. Great comment, thanks for watching :) Gearfacts
Thanks to the reviewer. Straightforward without Dramatics. Several other reviewers felt the need to act out comedy routines.
Much appreciated, JM, I do aim to put information first
I just realized I left my washing machine on while filming this video. You can totally hear it in the background. It's funny the noises you just get used to. Sorry about that!
Yeah! For the price it's a great little gizmo. I plug mine into Fender tube amp and it's great especially when I don't want to mess around with all my pedals. I actually like some of the weird combo effects but the drums are hard to dial in. The wahwah is pretty cool too. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the video JH
definately lots of fun, and a great bang for the buck. i'm loving the fuzz on this thing.
Yep, great value for money here
I just starting playing electric guitar and have a crappy 20 watt amp. I learned on acoustic so electric is a whole new world to me. On a budget this is going to make a big difference
Cool man, yes it gives a lot for the price :) Gearfacts
You'll find that playing music is a lot more fun when you have some quality equipment. Even if it's inexpensive, its okay as long as it sounds nice. Just ordered this and I'm really looking forward to playing with it.
@@Deeznutseighthundredthirty I have since upgraded to a nice amp and you're correct. A lot more fun
Nothing wrong with 20 watts . I have had loads from 10 to 20w . But they all vary in Sound .Some sound flat or very thin . Also it depends on what guitar you are playing , pickups new strings . I have been playing for 6 years .I am nearly 61 and probably suffering GAS. Enjoy the journey
such a good little thing
yup :)
that sounds pretty good
Yeah not bad for a toy-looking thing
I have this and it's ok sound wise and drum beats are about what you'd expect . I think I paid $34 on Amazon shipped . It's obviously made very cheaply but the sounds aren't too bad .
100% agree with you as always mate :) Gearfacts
This device punches way above it's weight-class, great demo!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
I have one, and I love it! It can also plug into a synthesizer instead of an electric guitar, and it works better cause you don't need any tuning. A warning though, it won't sound good using synthesizer if you play chords!
Cool, thanks for watching my video :) #gearfacts
thanks for this, was looking at getting a Microfreak and I Wanted something small/simple like my AC30 Amplug. I'm assuming with the cab sim turned off on clean it sounds somewhat flat?
What about using it with an Atari Punk Console, would that work? Because with an APC you’re basically just turning knobs, does that count as chords? I’m a novice to special guitar FXs. I just started playing around with building my own modular synth. Please let me know what you think. Thank you kindly
@@SisterRose I don't know, been trying since you asked, my ears can't hear the difference.
Maybe the Cab sim. are for people using normal speakers.
@@maxwarfield6699 I live in South East Asia, I don't think they sell that thing over here...
But on 8bit Channel(a retro gaming channel; the real name slips away from me) I might have seen something that fits your description.
By all means, try what you want. This gadget is pretty much GIGO*. Anything that fit the jacks can be used.
In pursuit of new sound, all things can be used!
*Garbage In, Garbage Out.
Its insane that is has drum beats too. Who wants to practice just to a metronome. I have the hd500x and it doesn't have any beats and neither does 95% of todays new multieffects pedals. Its crazy to me you pay hundreds and it doesnt even have cheesy drum beats. This pedal is worth that alone really if you think about how much simple drum machines are. If they made an multieffects with a looper and multiple foot switches to change on the fly i would buy it maybe even 2 in a heartbeat.
I agree. Zoom multi effects pedals have great beats in them too 👍
how do you reset it to factory default? thanks much, these things are fun. got mine plugged into my red stripe USA bandit right now
Cool. Not sure about the reset, you might have to google up the manual for that one.
Bought one of these for the kids, it's great for the money, only criticism is that it's not that loud through the headphones
Yeah this unit has some big thumbs-ups from viewers who've commented here :) GF
You might be somehow deaf : some preset crunch patches bang my ears ! Every patch is clear and easy to hear. Indeed, some need to turn volume up.
So one down point of this pockrock is that patch volumes aren't equally made, when you use a blues phased patch, you have to turn up volume, and then when you switch to a hard-rock distorted or crunched one, you turn deaf.
I experienced the same so what I do is hook it up to my amp and plug headphones into the amp to get better volume
@@Niavy64 turns out it was just with those headphones. Tried different ones and its fine
Hi! Great review.
Wanted to know which is better to buy, this one or Mooer PE 100?
Thank you! I'd choose the PE100
@@gearfacts ok thanks for your suggestion 😊
So this is the sound directly from the phone out to recording setup??
With amp-sim on??
That's how I would have done it, yep :) Gearfacts
you could probably turn the cab sim on and get a half decent cab sim and itd sound great
Very nice this multi effect, can I use it to play with my poor Punk rock band ? My band is simple.
Yes it has some decent thrashy distortions
Try learning some Monster Magnet songs. They're usually playing power chords.
You know - I want to dig these because they remind me of the old "Rockman" (Walkman) style personal "1-Man-Band" doohickey from - gah, what was that? - like, '86 or something? But I can't get past that rickety plastic, 1-drop-from-doom form factor. The effects are cool, but how ya gonna fit that on a tidy pedal board? In any event - great video review as always and thanks for that!
lmao @ " 1-drop-from-doom form factor ". Too funny.
This is clearly a practice amp and not meant for hooking up to a pedal board. If you're wanting something like that you should shell out the money for a much better processor.
@@ZiddersRooFurry Should? No. Could? Possibly maybe. What would I actually do? Whatever the hell I want to achieve the sound I'm after including hooking up a bowl of pudding wired to a magic wand attached with gaffer"s tape to a rabid cat. One thing I've learned is commitment counts more in music that a deep pocket (unless you're a music store employee or a sales rep from Strymon).
@@notsofunnynowisit Uh this is basic recording 101. I mean sure-if you want your recording to sound like shit use a $20 processor. This was designed for practice play not to record good music with but you do you.
@@ZiddersRooFurry I whispered what you said to my beloved Fostex VF16 and it snort-laughed.
Could this device be plugged into a synthesizer, would it work?
Yep, definitely :)
Can I play this directly from headphones without an amp?
Sure
iI have a boss katana mini amp. Does this work well with the pedal?
Yes it'll work :)
@@gearfacts
So can we close the drive channel? Cause I want to get the drive from the amp.
@@furkandal4733 Yes, but the sound might not be optimal. Normally drive would come before the other effects, but with the Katana mini you can only put the drive after the other effects. Most people don't like it this way, but there's not other option with that particular amp. Some other amps will have an effects loop, this would allow the addition of effects after the amp's drive sound.
@@gearfacts Sad to hear that. Like you said that if I buy this thing, the sound of the amp and the pedal will interfere with each other. I will look at other alternatives, I think I have a few pedals in my mind.
i know i'm busy you but have you had a chance to try the Mooer Mod Factory MKII or Valeton Coral Mod ii multi effect pedals? Or is there a low-budget multi-effect pedal that you can recommend? Thank you for your interest.
Does it have a noise gate?
@Evil Koala it means. It has a built in noise gate? Cause my guitar is very noisy when the distortions are on
@Evil Koala I am hoping it will kill my guitar noise
yes,i just got mine
If I run a 1/4" to USB cable from the output into a computer with the computer recognize it as a input signal without an audio interface??
I don't believe so
How long do the batteries last?
about 90 minutes :) #gearfacts
Is the headphone out a mono jack?
Stereo, sir
@@gearfacts Thanks sir! 😊 Planning to buy one and you helped me a lot.
Can you erase the presets you made and make all the presets factory settings instead of the ones you made yourself???
No I don't think its possible on this one.
How much?
They're all over Ebay and Alibaba
What amp are you using with it?
I recorded it directly into my camera. There are various amp simulations in the PockRock that I used.
I cringe when I hear his playing
I cringe when I play my playing :D
