Glad everyone is finding the book helpful! Both the 2006 and 2021 versions are sold out. We've made available 2 damaged copies (cover vinyl was bent) as well as digital versions of both books. I enjoyed the video. Nice job - and enjoying the jazz as well.
Lol. Steve!
So glad to hear that you enjoyed the video! You're inspiration to not only me, but many of the people who watched this video!
Will more of theses books be made available in the future?
Good to see your still doin it Steve! I remember watching you and Alex Ross do paintings together at the American Academy of Art in Chicago years ago lol.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
He has a great style. I always loved Johnny Quest and the spoof Venture Brothers
I've never seen the Venture Bros, but I've heard good things. There's some really great character designs and preliminary work from Johnny Quest by Doug Wildey.
It reminds me of Alex Toth's animation art book... excellent
That one is on my list! Maybe an upcoming video...
Fellow big Rude fan. I was actually in the chat while you were at that live stream too. I also own that book and it's just chock full of amazing information.
@jrtist831 Oh cool! Glad to hear you already have it. See ya in the next stream!
Very cool stuff. I happen to know that what producer want to see more than the art is the story, character development and story arc.
I really like working with comics and I am a big fan of animation, I made a few of them and I know how much work it takes. I have never heard of Nexus, probably because I am Brazilian and it was never sold here, or I just never saw one here, but we have a similar publication here, it's called Society of Virtue, and it is more like a motion comic than a proper animation, but it's good.
This book actually inspired me to do something similar, since it would be my dream to see something I made turning into an animation, I am already making the Turnarounds of my character for my comic references, and a simplified version of them to use in animation would be very handy, and even start to put some storyboards on this👀
Thanks for sharing this book and the channel, I know I will have a lot to learn from it💜
I'm glad you got a lot out of this video! It sounds like you're on the right track, with doing all of the turnarounds, etc. Good luck with your project, I bet it will turn out awesome!
Excellent video on an the phenomenal artist Steve Rude. Somehow Steve has got better as a draftsman as the years go by. Very inspiring video, thank you for this.⭐️
Thanks for watching! And I agree, he seems to just keep getting better. I think that can be attributed to his constant practicing and commitment to being a student.
Awesome video, great review of a great books. Didn't know of Steve Rude, but Nexus looks awesome. Hope it does become an animation. Very Alex Toth looking, but with his own thing, which I LOVE.
Yes, definitely Toth inspired 👍 Glad you liked Steve's work. He's got decades worth of art to binge on now!
Nexus without the mask reminds me Johnny Storm from Marvel
I was thinking the same thing! A Rude Fantastic Four story would be awesome, actually.
Nice video. I'm definitely a fan of The Dude, and hope that his vision of the animated Nexus goes beyond the excellent short film he made. As for how-to-draw books I'd like to see examined, I've always wanted to see the ones by Bart Sears and Andy Smith.
@jimgillespie6109 Oh cool, I'll have to look the Bart Sears one. Is that a collection of all of his Wizard Basic Training lessons? Not sure I'm familiar with an Andy Smith book, but I'll look it up. Thanks!
This video was insightful and I will be adding the book to my wish-list. The head turn arounds facial expressions look great. Would it be possible for you to create a video on drawing facial expressions? A book review on Draw the LooneyTunes - The Warner Bros Character Design Manual would be interesting if you have it in your library. Rough Justice: The DC Comics Sketches of Alex Ross would also be a good book to review.
Thanks for watching and thank you for the suggestions! A video on facial expressions would be super cool. I'll keep that in mind. I never heard of that Looney Tunes Design book, I looked it up and it looks awesome. Unfortunately, it seems out of print and very expensive, so I probably won't be able to get my hands on that one, but the Alex Ross book would be super cool, I'll add that to my list!
@@thomaspitilli The Looney Tunes book is expensive, so it is understandable you cannot justify purchasing it. I am transitioning from broad comic expressions toward more nuanced facial expressions that show the inner life of characters, so it would be cool to see your take on this. Thanks.
With this style of art and animation, you can't hide behind rendering. What great simplicity of line and form. Definitely not easy to execute
Great way of putting it. Yes, there really is nothing to hide behind when you understand line and form. He makes it look easy!
Excellent video, Thomas. Yes, Steve Rude is a wonderful artist, and your comments on his Nexus book, while drawing from it, was really inspirational. Btw, that nice easy jazz, in the background, added to the whole flavor of your presentation. Very nice.
Thanks so much Chip, I'm glad to hear that! I always appreciate you watching 🙏
Thanks for your helpful information 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Glad yoy found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
I love sara jay
What kind of sketchbook are you using? From what I saw it looks pretty interesting.
Would you ever do a sketchbook tour?
I'm using my official Stay Warm Sketchbook! It's my own custom Sketchbook that others have been using as well. I just released a brand new one, actually. Check out my latest video for more info on that 😊
Damn man, am I about to get kayfabed again?!
The Kayfabe Effect is real!
I had not heard of Steve Rude. Thanks for the introduction-and the draw-along. As an artist, I appreciate watching artists learn from each other and continue to practice the craft, especially the fundamentals.
Your work looks great too. Peace.
Thanks Tim! Glad I could introduce you to a great artist. And thanks for watching, it's much appreciated 🙏
question! Are you showing how to draw the methods from the book because no one is going to learn time laps speed drawing! Then at the same time your your face pop up, do me the favor do it right next time, people want to see how it's done I'm disappointed all I see here show offs when it comes to drawing comics who's going to learn with that ridiculous time laps wow
I'm so sorry to offend you with this completely free video. I apologize for it not being up to your standards, my good sir. I will be sure to try harder next time so that I don't continue to upset other entitled children such as yourself. My apologies.
@markaguzmanartist630 There are a ton of free videos on RUclips for slow learners, so there is no need to be rude when you get valuable insights into a professional artist work
@@thomaspitillihilarious
Don't get me wrong your a good artist it's better to do the process more slow but don't worry I'm still going to follow you ok 😊😊😊@@thomaspitilli
What's wrong with you. People came for the book and not your face.
The video seems to be doing alright, face and all. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We need more gentlemen like you in the world.
@@thomaspitilli Thanks. It was a pleasure.
He showed plenty of the book, what is the point of this comment?
@@amongdrip8073 You click on the video for the book and he shows his face more or at least as often as the book. You're constantly fast forwarding to the next section from the book. If you make a video about a book show the book and not yourself talking about the book. It's incredibly sad that in today's times you have to explain this to people like you.
@@zzador What are you talking about? Pound for pound the video shows the book for the majority of the runtime, it's incredibly sad how people like you are so miserable they have to lie just so they can complain about something.
