  • Cato Institute Latin America Policy Analyst Daniel Raisbeck says there will probably be more arrests of El Salvador government figures.
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele announced to his cabinet they are all under investigation for corruption, already arresting one of his advisers.
“Bukele wants to portray himself not only as the victor in the war against crime but also the war against corruption,” Mr Raisbeck told Sky News host Gabriella Power.
“In a certain sense, Bukele has won because there hasn’t been very many times the president of El Salvador is discussed outside of Central America or in the region, let alone across the Anglo-speaking world.
“On the other hand … his tactics have been very heavy-handed.
“The question is to what extent there can be any rules or checks on his power.”

Let the man do his job and don't start with your civil rights crap to ruin the country, again!
The fact that Bukele is HIGHLY popular amongst El Salvadorians tells us that he is taking care of his people.

This guy needs to inform himself better he tells so many inaccurate things about Bukele, who won the election by about 90% the people gave him majority at the congress, he didn't change the constitution, he changed the general attorney within the frame of the law, like in the westerners countries when a new government takes power. I know what I'm talking about, I'm from El Salvador, I left 40 years ago and I'm planning to return and invest there!!!

In ES the human rights of the honest and hard working people are more important than the rights of the inhuman criminals, El Salvador is booming, tourism : is up big time, education : All children get a laptop with internet access, new modern schools are being built, we have the best new library in Latin America, health :state of the art hospitals are being built, Economy: foreign investment is pouring in, google just opened a branch in ES, infrastructure: new modern roads are being built, a second international airport is projected, a subway is on the cards, ES just bought 1,500 new buses to update public transport, the best Stadium in Latin America is being built, Sports: long board surf World Cup competition is taking place, ES has applied to host the beach soccer World Cup for 2027 male and female versions, does this sound like a dictatorship country?

Power never corrupt. Power us a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. Kike a hammer us a tool. Like a car is a tool. If you give power to a person with powerful morals and integrity, that person will use that power accordingly, but if you give power to an irresponsible , moral compromise person, that person will abuse that power. The problem is not the tool it'd the person wielding that tool

You talk about rule of law, really? Like the rule of law El Salvador was under for the last 30 years. Do a research and find out how El Salvador was decaying (under the so-called democracy). Then come back and report that. It is quite amazing and interesting; to say the least, how a President of a country is literally sacrificing his and family's lives to save the lives of an entire nation, bringing peace, and slowly but steady a way out of impoverishment. What is the moral of the story here. A noble action arising from ruin and chaos to better the lives of others, turns into an offense of the rule of law, an immoral action, a violation of rights, a punch to democracy. There is only one explanation to this oxymoron. There is a global agenda to report this in such a way that demoralizes and demonizes this noble cause. Powerful and global entities most likely are handing out checks and ordering high network producers to come up with segments like this. Take a look at all the major networks who report this story, and you will see a pattern. Then ask yourselves, who is really the dictator and totalitarian here?
