It's a great series, before they added space, a literal last ditch effort series are known for adding when they can't think of anything else to add. Notice how as soon as z starts, the whole earth ends up just feeling so small. RIP Toriyama, whenever I watched OG I was always so excited to watch the Tenkaichi Tournament arcs they were always my favorite. Yamcha vs. Tien will always be my personal fight in the whole show and Dragon Ball as a whole.
I know there's no way no chance of that happening now but that would have been absolutely amazing, I'd never thought about that. Maybe in the next game if there's ever a new one.
I legitimately - and will forever be upset - that not only did the dub NEVER GET Mezase Tenkaichi - but the Tournament of Power never brought a remixed version of this song back. Ultimate Battle was nice, but this song would have been amazing, especially refreshed with the ToP fighters.
I absolutely agree with you on the dub. I think it was a major misstep on FUNimation's part. Although, that's more or less a problem I have with their dub of the series in general. In that, not only did they remove Mesaze Tenkaichi, but ALL insert songs. From Dragon Ball Densetsu, to Wolf Hurricane and even Aoki Tabibito-tachi, not a single insert song makes it in, outside of Mezase Tenkaichi being played as an instrumental occasionally. I have a bit of a hard time understanding your latter take, though. By that metric, wouldn't you be just as disappointed that it wasn't used during the 23rd, 25th and 28th Tenkaichi Budokai's in the original series'? I think it would be a cool idea, was just curious what you thought about the other tournaments not doing the same thing and why it's, specifically, the Tournament of Power.
I only saw the original DB dubbed, but when Kaiser Neko from TFS pointed this song out during one of the recent DBcembers (last years I believe) I had to find it and check it out. Now, a while later, and I still revisit this song a bunch. DB was a special series that deserves more love than it gets... I think DB should stand alongside Z, not in Z's shadow. DB is amazing!
I don't understand why so many people make fun of Yamcha. Yamcha had just bad luck. How was he supposed to defeat Master roshi, tien or literally God himself. The fight with the saibaman was a bit embarrassing but Krillin said that yamcha just wanted to protect Krillin. Against Dr. Gero he had no chance as a normal human and even Super Vegeta and Super Trunks had difficulties in the fight against the Cell jr. And we don't need to talk about Buu
as someone who's introduction to db was nicktoon's run of Kai and GT, i ended up eventually starting over from pilaf saga. i had no idea the tournament arcs were so GOOD, holy shit. especially 21st tournament
As a fan who's watched the entire series it pains to see that almost everyone became punching bags just for Goku to make the save and be the hero of the day.
Well, at least he wasn't the strongest at the beginning and lost many fights. But yeah, that hurts. I like that Goku lost two torunaments and even he said that he couldn't win against Roshi in the first tournament.
@@Netsuki Yeah, and know he can whoop everyone with just a blast with his UI form.Everything has become about The Sayians and pulling transformations out of your ass.Unfortunately in DB universe everything is about power level.Hell,he even whooped Tao Pai Pai out of power just because his power was increased when he climbed The Tower of Korin. No experience,no technique just pure power level.I wish many fights where like Goku vs Master Roshi(Jackie Chun),Krillin vs Chiaotzu and Goku vs Krillin where the fighters use their brains to turn the tables in a fight instead of relying on their power all the time.I wish the humans,Piccolo and Gohan were still relevant and could challenge Goku but nooooo.Everything is about Goku and only Goku now.Kinda sad if you think about it.I love DB and DBZ but the truth must be told.
each time I hear i feel the same emotions as a child, dragon ball is unique, the first season for me was the best, thanks Toriyama for gaving the world this masterpiece
What I'm saying is that Dragon Ball was once a action comedy story about Goku meeting new different people and unique fighters, becoming stronger, going to tournaments, and fighting the bad guys, while also searching the dragon balls, but by the time of the Buu Saga, it has been something else for a while, it turned into a pure action show with a repetitive story where only Saiyans matter and the earthlings became useless. New bad guy shows up and wants to destroy the earth->Goku's friends are in trouble->Goku appears to save the day, rinse and repeat, that's every arc in DBZ. At least OG Dragon Ball had a story, unique fighters, techniques and fights, and Goku's friendship with his group felt genuine, unlike in DBZ where Goku barely interact with them.
@@oliveiradmdiogo Kinda, but they used to be more more useful and important in OG Dragon Ball. Krillin was Goku's best friend who started out as a mischievous weak kid, Yamcha was Bulma's boyfriend who started out as a bandit, Roshi was the teacher who would enter the tournaments in disguise to test his students, Tenshinhan was a student from Roshi's rival who and became Goku's biggest opponent before the King Piccolo Arc, and then there were also Tao Pai Pai, General Blue, Red Ribbon Army as a whole, Yajirobe, Nam, and Upa. Krillin started as a weakling and managed to become strong enough to pose a challenge to Goku and Piccolo Jr, Yamcha gave Tenshinhan a good fight, Roshi gave Goku an important lesson after barely defeating him, that there were also going to be stronger folks out there in the world, which would make Goku more determined to become stronger. But in DBZ, you get none of that, the only useful earthling is Krillin. Yamcha became a background character and Tenshinhan only gets one moment to shine.
Essa música me deixa arrepiado!
@@Dante... I had to look it up. I didn’t realize that’s the name of the song during Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan 2. It’s a song that moves me to tears. Especially since it’s an extremely emotional moment for Gohan. Gohan x Videl is my all-time favorite coupling in Dragon Ball. It’s the most natural and realistic romance in the entire franchise. A genuine Slice of Life arc in the series. As I absolutely cannot stand ChiChi. Not only was her and Goku’s marriage a literal shotgun wedding minus the shotgun. My hatred of her really festered after the Saiyan Arc. Here be Goku, every bone in his body broken, nearly dead, and Gohan is merely unconscious and far less injured. In fact he passed out not from his injuries, but from exhaustion. Yet she was ignoring him and speaking ill of him. Like Yajirobe, I wanted to reach into that scene and slug her.
These early tournaments are really special because in those days it was very rare for a main character to lose and goku faced consecutive losses in early db. Actually, if you look at the whole series then you'll notice goku never had a major victory but somehow everyone complains about goku having the spotlight.
Before they actually had to train. Now your power level increases whilst you’re sleeping... The value of 1 in power levels has been decreased so much. Now it’s just power jumps instead of jumping power.
I really wish they had repurposed/rearranged this song for the Cell Games first match up. Would have been a PHENOMENAL opener for Goku vs Cell's warm-up.
Because that span was about 40 years. Tien is about Vegeta's age. It's just that Tien is super in shape. Same with most of the Z Warriors. There bodies are in good shape so they are healthy looking. Yamcha and Tien are both about Vegeta's age. Goku and Krillin and Chi Chi are like 5-8 years under than everybody else but Piccolo.

Gotta be honest. I love where Dragon Ball is today. Yes, that includes loving GT and Super. Idk, the series just manages to entice me so much. But the OG can't be beaten. Z and the others just don't have the same vibe.
Back when dragon ball was all about still, training, technique with some power scaling to really add excitement. Now days it’s only power-scaling, we’ll overpowering and nothing else. Very sad…..
Bruce Lee’s *Enter the Dragon* started the trope of an international martial arts tournament that is present in so many other martial arts-based media; Dragon Ball, Bloodsport, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc.
It really sucks that Toriyama cared way more about power levels and how they work rather than furthering the development of the characters we fell in love with initially.
Apparently there will be a DLC in the future called "Martial Arts Pack", so maybe this OST will come to the game later on. I sure hope so at least. Would be a shame if this was left out as it's easily one of the best songs in the franchise.

@@ZeBenko Funimations always fumbles
Come on, mentioning Super in presence of the GOAT original Dragon Ball is an insult to good taste
@@ZeBenkoWell, to be fair, licensing a song is a bitch and a half in Japan.
I clicked the video by mistake, and it turns out that I like it!
Not sure how to feel about your profile pic.
Okay now read DragonBall
And suddenly you’re a dragon ball fam 😂
watch the anime now.
Back when Rōga-fū-fū-ken was a REAL DEAL !
Well you must watch it subbed then, because Kai is the only good english dub that was done for DB.
Rip the Roga FuFu Ken
If this played during the tournament of power i wouldve lost my shit
This music gives me goosebumps.
extragirth64 ok
This was in the Japanese ver. of Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure GBA, came here from that, so glad I found this awsomness
Wait really? No fair that the US version replaced it, dammit Atari because this song is one of my favs
@@Armorhunterash yeah the Japanese version has game versions of mystical adventure, this and the credits song bulma sings
@@Armorhunterash bummer, yes
Thank you Toriyama🕊
I don't understand why so many people make fun of Yamcha. Yamcha had just bad luck. How was he supposed to defeat Master roshi, tien or literally God himself. The fight with the saibaman was a bit embarrassing but Krillin said that yamcha just wanted to protect Krillin. Against Dr. Gero he had no chance as a normal human and even Super Vegeta and Super Trunks had difficulties in the fight against the Cell jr. And we don't need to talk about Buu
Yamcha put up a solid performance against Tien during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament! Admit it! :)
Oh man the childhood memories
StripesTheDevilCat me too
Kevin Ayson bruh
as someone who's introduction to db was nicktoon's run of Kai and GT, i ended up eventually starting over from pilaf saga. i had no idea the tournament arcs were so GOOD, holy shit. especially 21st tournament
Riposa in pace Maestro Toriyama. ❤
Nothing in anime has ever hyped me up more than those DB tenkaichi tournaments.
Rest in Peace, Great master Akira Toriyama!
The fact they didn't bring this one back for Trunks vs Goten in the Buu Saga is criminal
The heart of Dragon Ball has long been lost by that point.
@@hibikikyu The earthlings were always useless if you really think about it
@@oliveiradmdiogo Kinda, but they used to be more more useful and important in OG Dragon Ball.

Rest in peace you fucking legend, I always knew of this show but never got fully into it, now I am, and...wow. You made a masterpiece, Akira Toriyama.
Who’s here now that tenkaichi 4 finna drop?
R.I.P. Akira Toriyama, fly high.
I'm going to be playing this when I'm playing Sparking Zero.
So much nostalgia..
Essa música me deixa arrepiado!
what a beautiful voice!!!! energetic as hell!!!
Goku vs Piccolo jr best fight ever
Me gusta tu foto de perfil 😊
This is easily the best piece of music in Dragon Ball history. Unfortunately, most DB "fans" never even heard of it.
Those who don't like dragon ball are scum.but those who skipped og dragon ball to watch z or super are worse than scum
why is "fans" in quotation marks?
@@wallacealex4638 I was refering to those Z only idiots. You know, those who never went back to watch/read WHERE THE STORY STARTS.
@@wallacealex4638 because they skipped og dragon ball and went to super

Gotta love older anime. The insert songs are often 🔥 AF. The 2 best from Dragon Ball are this and the Red Ribbon Army insert IMO.
I agree those are great but what about Day of Destiny Spirit vs Spirit?
Now THIS was the tournament of power
Rest In Peace MASTER !! Without You there wouldn't be ME!!!
Awesome song .. remember my childhood.. epic moments from world martial arts tournament.
Thank you Mr. Toriyama.
These early tournaments are really special because in those days it was very rare for a main character to lose and goku faced consecutive losses in early db. Actually, if you look at the whole series then you'll notice goku never had a major victory but somehow everyone complains about goku having the spotlight.
He literally doesn’t win any close battles until *piccolo* (who he beats twice).
Every other win was one sided.

Such an awesome and badass name for a tournament .
the start of the theme sounds like AU diego brando's theme and damn is it good.
OG DRAGON BALL BETTER THAN Z OR SUPER ANY DAY HANDS DOWN🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️
FACTS LOL! 😭
Before they actually had to train. Now your power level increases whilst you’re sleeping... The value of 1 in power levels has been decreased so much. Now it’s just power jumps instead of jumping power.
💀 what. They train harder now then they did back then
😍😍😍

good to see ya Ilyes
I really wish they had repurposed/rearranged this song for the Cell Games first match up. Would have been a PHENOMENAL opener for Goku vs Cell's warm-up.
wait how come tien hasn't aged? at the end of Dragon ball z he still looks like himself when they first introduced him with different clothes
Tien looked different to me
@@amaledwards Tien's difference was his muscles back then.
Tien isn’t exactly a human but none of them got that older
You're not questioning his third eye? Or being able to grow 2 extra arms? Tenshinhan is built different, literally

Such a badass theme for a tournament.
Thank you Toriyama. ❤️
What?
***** I like tien
Josh Ochs To be fair, he introduced the concept to basically prove they're worthless.
***** I wasn't trying to be funny.
***** The comment was aimed at power levels themselves, not the characters.
god i LOVE this era of music!!!
RIP AKIRA TORIYAMA.
Niffed this didnt come back for Sparking Zero's anime dlc packs
Apparently there will be a DLC in the future called "Martial Arts Pack", so maybe this OST will come to the game later on. I sure hope so at least. Would be a shame if this was left out as it's easily one of the best songs in the franchise.
