Might need to be updated. The V1 is now out. It's a magnificent speedlight with a Li-ion rechargeable that not only has huge capacity, it enables recovery in under 2 seconds from full dump. In addition, Godox has the V series with Li-ion rechargeable batteries that also have huge capacity and enable very short recovery times. An AD200 [Pro] can be a magnificent bracket mounted bare bulb using the EC200 and wearing the back end brick like a battery pack while putting the head on the flash bracket. Put the X series trigger in the hot shoe and you're in business. No more cumbersome than Quantum Qflash or the Godox Witstro 360 that requires a battery slab. Indeed, it's less weight on the shoulder or belt depending on how you wear it.
Ken thanks for making this video! Godox speed lights are awesome! I have the tt560 all manual lights with the lithium ion batteries and they are awesome! Good power, great recycle time of 1.5 seconds at full power and great price. I just picked up the ad360 and it is great to have 360 watt/second barebulb light that is basically a speed light on steroids.
great video! i like godox products and recently bought their pb960 power pack. question: when one uses godox speedlights with the godox pb960 pack, there is no need for other batteries to power the speedlight? when i use my nikon speedlight with the godox pb960, i still need to install batteries to the nikon speedlight for the speedlight electronics. when using godox speedlight and the godox pb960, do you need to install batteries in the speedlight or can you use power from the godox pb960?
Recently picked up a Flashpoint eVolv 200 and wireless trigger. Was so impressed with it I'm buying a 2nd one. Makes for an awesome tool for real estate and portraiture (portraits and HSS)... I'd highly recommend the eVolv 200. Flashpoint strobes are well worth their cost also.
Godox is cheap and simple to use. Perfect for entry-level and you will keep upgrading to AD200, AD600BM, AD600pro. X1 series trigger can trigger almost every godox flash and strobe. It will make you stay in their ecosystem once you get into. I got my TT685 a while ago with two TT600 flash. Most pros don't use TTL most of time, and for off camera flash TT600 have HSS,S1, S2 mode and a much simplified manual. If you use a lot outdoor, AD200. If you want to overpower the sun AD600. If you are Canon user and you are not smart enough to use everything mentioned above get a 470EX-AI. I do think that AI technology is the future for some part of the flash photography like weddings, night portrait or any low light situation where one flash gun is sufficient.
I just need to say ....... I am one of your fanboys, and I've recently made quite a few purchases based solely on your recommendation(s), and you haven't let me down yet! My new Godox TT685 and PB960 arrived today and it didn't take long for me to go "Wow!" We are often reliant on people-in-the-know for reliable advice, especially when we're venturing into unknown territory and on a budget. I value yours Ken, as I value your personal opinions. Many thanks.
Couldnt agree more about Yongnuo. I can´t believe how they´re still in business! I got 5 of those craps from different suppliers after reading many great reviews about them in different sites and each and everyone of them just failed eventually. I was sure Godox would do the same thing but I got a Xenergizer strobe and it has been a great tool for several years now. I will get a TT350 and TT685 combo for my Fuji system soon.
I know that Paul C Buff has an excellent reputation for quality of product and service and the new DigiBee reviewed by you looks to be an excellent strobe. However, Godox is now making the AD600 Pro which has a modeling lamp of the same power as the DigiBee, comes with a rechargeable lithium battery and, unlike the DigiBee has HSS and TLL. Have you found that Godox strobes have crappy construction and that's why you recommend against them?
those godox strobes dont have 1/1000th the options for quality light mods, octabox, strip box, beauty dishes etc etc etc etc etc. Godox does NOT have the color consistency of the Einstein units either, nor the SPEED controls for stop motion HSS is shit, REAL fast strobe photog is HYPERSYNC HSS is the shit "version" of Hypersync, which Buff is coming out with HOWEVER their White Lighting , as i made a video on, already has Hypersync capability given its T1 times. no godox junk comes within a mile of the power of Buff units, such as their White Lightning strobe.
Ken if you got the Westcott "triple threat" 3-head mount, using 3 Godox speedlights. THEN, using the power pack you showed, with the Y-adapter for 2 of the flashes, and a single cord for the 3rd flash, what's your guess on how insane, or ok, would the recycle time be?
Hey Ken, why would you recommend the 865 over the 860II or the Flashpoint Zoom Li-on R2 TTL light? Not sure why you'd recommend the AA version over the Li-on version. And then right before you end the video, you start pushing the PB-960 Li-on battery pack. But I do agree, as far as speed lights go, Godox is the way to go. But consider recommending the 860II,... not the 865. Especially since the 860II is pretty much a 865 with a BP-960 built into it. Also consider reviewing the AD200 and it's corporate twin the eVOLV 200 for us. Some say the AD200 is quickly overtaking speedlights when it comes to utility and versatility, especially since one AD200 is about the equivalence of 3 AD860II Speedlights when it comes to power.
685, not 865........ nooooope, the 860 does NOT recharge nearly as fast as a 685 with a power pack attached, full charge recycle time is over 2X as long with teh 860
Yeah,... got the model numbers crossed a little. Thanks! Maybe you're right at full power, but at 1/2 power recycle time is just south of half a second and 1/4 and below, it's instant. That's pretty good Mr. Ken! I own 2 of the 860II speedlights, and while they might recharge as fast on their internal Li-on battery as the 685 does on the larger external BP-960 Streaklight battery pack, the recycle time is way better than on 4 AA batteries. Also way less expensive and way more mobile friendly. Like I said before,... really anxious to hear what you think of the AD200. Is it worth it to trade in all but one of your speedlights to help fund 2 AD200 flashes? Been thinking hard on this one. Thanks
But the BP-960 battery pack kit is $140,... quickly turning $110 into $250. Only 50 bucks south of a basic AD200 kit, and only 70 bucks short of the AD200 kit that includes both fresnel and bare bulb heads, barn doors, grid, gels, adjustable light stand mount and a carry/storage case.
Got tt685F with xpro triggere and pb960 few weeks ago, now ordering two extra units.Nissin is nice but also expensive and combersome with a firmware updates.
Wow Ken I missed this video. So what is the power ratio of the Godox 685 vs the Nikon SB speedlights? Right now I have two SB800, two SB25, one SB26, one SB600, one SB700 all these SB speedlights are triggered with the Youngnuo 622N-tx controller and Youngnuo receivers 622N
Would be curious to get your thoughts on the AD200. Basically same size as TT685 but packs 3x the power with a fresnel and bare bulb option. Fast recycle and long batt life. HSS and same interface with the X-1T transmitters.
Thanks for this Ken. I have been using a Canon 580EXii speedlight in manual mode with my XT2 and I'm looking for a Fuji system flash option. Godox sounds good and priced right.
I have the new XPro Fuji trigger .... had it for a couple of weeks now. Find the ergonomics to be much better than the older trigger. Works perfectly with my X-T2 and GFX.
Hi Ken, based on recommendations, I have got few things. First switched to Fuji and now bought two 685's. Shot few weddings with these and I have a major problem. I really don't like when gear is letting me down. For some reason if I set flash in manual mode, 1/4 power and fire around 20 shots in few minutes, flash recycle time dramatically drops. And this happens with both flashes. Am I doing something wrong? I shoot quite a bit flash photography during first dance and evening and during the last wedding I missed loads of shots as none of set up flashes were firing properly and had to wait around 4 seconds to recycle. Quickly switched to Canon flashes with triggers and had no problem rest of the night. Same power output. Let me know your thoughts when you have a minute. Thank you Ken.
Is the Godox PROPAC PB960 compatible with the Fujifilm EF-X500? Is it compatible with Canon flashes, such as the Canon MT-26EX-RT Macro Twin Lite? For the latter, I would like to be able to shoot macros in burst mode while leaning in/out relative to the subject. Ain't happening with eneloop batteries -- the Canon macro flash can't keep up with my older Canon 5DM2! Thank you so much for your advice, Ken. BTW, I would make a modest cash contribution, you know, for the effort, but I had a VERY NEGATIVE experience with PayPal so I avoid it like a biohazard. Is there an alternate way to contribute?
Dear Ken, Your thoughts on Phottix speedlights? i Have a Mitros and it seems to behave exactly the same way as my nikon ones (older sb-800s and sb900s). I use them often in combination in wireless mode and they never miss a beat.
*** QUESTION *** I have both Canon and Fujifilm versions of the Godox tt350 flash. Is it possible to reflash the TT350C to TT350F??? I no longer have any Canon gear and would like to repurpose the TT350C for Fujifilm hot shoe use. Any thoughts?? THANK YOU!!
Hey Ken, maybe you ought to look at getting the Godox 850 as long as you do not want `TTL as its rechargeable cell last for ages and has amazing recycle time ..... pretty much the same as the 685 coupled with that huge external battery pack .... if you might want to try the TTL then look at the V860ii which i have in Nikon and Sony and have never let me down yet. The AD200 which is bit of an odd duck is also pretty cool if you need a little more output plus a modelling light function. I have two of those also and as the UK is rarely sunny i can use them on location outdoors to good effect.
Great review Mr. Ken. (as always...) I'm interested in godox AD200 and/or AD600, Have you ever tried this products? I´m a great fan of you and really trust on your criteria... Thanks!
Aloha from Hawaii. Love your videos. FYI, although "Aloha" is acceptable for saying hello and goodbye, "Mahalo" is preferred for goodbye. Keep up the good work.
I like this vid. Love the frankness and honest opinions. One thing I would say though is you shouldn't discredit the ad600.....I dont have one but I think you should try it
Ken have you ever used the new Cactus V6 Transceivers? I’ve found them to be of really good value for under $100, and can be used with multiple Speedlight brands...
I've read a lot of comments about the Tt685 , seems that after few shoots the flash unit freezes, showing in the screen E5 code . Do you have the same problem? Is any solution for this issue? Thank you.

Thanks for the video Ken. Question for Godox users: I have several Quantum battery packs and 580EXII. I am considering purchasing the TT685Cs and would like to use my existing quantum cables. Can anyone who uses Canon and Godox 685s tell me if the flash power connection is the same as Canon 580ex II (Canon(CX) ?
I had nissin without updated. It's great but I got three godox 350f units and the trigger for like the price of one nissin flash. Smaller units which I love plus I have hss where with nissin I would need to ship to the USA for update I'm in Canada. Sell my nissin. I love the godox small units I might pick up the 685 unit
I think the only reason why this guy would not use a ad600pro over a PCB is because he hasn’t tried the AD600Pro. I am sorry man no disrespect PCB is yesterday’s tech and it’s nowhere close to what the AD600pro could do. The only lights I would say the Godox AF600pro is inferior to is probably the Broncolor Siros but definitely not the PCB crap. Even Rob Grimm from RGG EDU considers PCB to be inferior lights.
Check out the color temp review of the new Godox AD600 Pro which is reviewed as more accurate than Profoto, Broncolor etc... ruclips.net/video/Ir6ahHW9HA0/видео.html
I love love! Nissin too, but their firmware update model is bullshit you have to send it back to Nissin for updates you can't buy grey if you want updates.

too true
Hi Ken is the tt685n fully compatible with the d850? I want it for ttl off camera triggered by the godox xpro. Keep up the great work!

so everyone says , yes
Good morning Ken.
What do you think about the godox V860ii over Nikon speed lights 😎😎😎😎😎
what do you think of the sk40011 godox strobe , so cheap , would that overpower the sun or should i just wait and get a 1200w
Great review Mr. Ken. (as always...) I'm interested in godox AD200 and/or AD600, Have you ever tried this products?

yes i have, i despise them :)
Hi Ken, is there any reason you chose the 685 over the 860? cheers
hate those big rechargeable lithium packs, but whatever floats your boat
Ok, thanks for the reply!
I've read a lot of comments about the Tt685 , seems that after few shoots the flash unit freezes, showing in the screen E5 code .
Do you have the same problem? Is any solution for this issue? Thank you.
Why not the V860 II-f? Same as 685 but with Lithium Ion battery pack. Faster recycle times and 600 full power flashes per charge.
that speedlight is nearly TWICE as much $$$$. who cares about recycle time when youve got a power pack, which is much faster than the V860 II-f is itself
why, its nearly twice the price, no dice
Ken,
If you go with the 685 and the PB 960 you are looking at $230.00 plus the cost of a connection cord.
The V860II-F is $179.00. Now I know you already have a bunch of power packs so for you the 685's make sense. If you are starting from scratch though, the V860II-F may be a better option.
Mark Eggers You are right!I want to get in the godox flash system and from my research the v860ii makes much more sense to me!The recycle time is about 1.5-2 sec full power and almost instant for less! That power pack is useful but not always ideal.600 full power flashes battery is sufficient for most things and you can always buy a spare.V860ii seems to be all in one!
recycle with the power pack is LESS than 1 second full power
godox products are good , but they are notorious for hotshoe break-offs ..(had two tt685s breaking off , but repairable with some glue)
got a pic of where they broke?
shot this , in a bit of a hurry to leave home (will upload a few more later on) - drive.google.com/file/d/1J20GDjORLZcBgyhfHLec5zuewTVvHxS0/view. the issue is fixable with a small dose of superglue ( this happened after I turned the camera from landscape to portrait a few dozen times , the first tt685N broke when some bystander crashed into it ). still use Godox products as they are cheap and does the job
Godox is the speed light truth. Sad when you got an XT - 32 Trigger & Godox 860vn ii but can't use FP Sync cause Dinkon's (D5k's D3k's) don't have that option :(.
"Godox is shit!" Sometime ago by Angry Photographer.. what changed your mind Ken?
as for their strobes, i still say the SAME, ill never use them
speedlights another matter
what say you about the photos you stole and presented as your own work?
midlife crisis
oiboiii what does this have to do with my question?
Profoto is the way to go...:-)
I have 2 TT685's and they've been fantastic. Nikon SB5000 in Australia is retailing for about $679 and the Godox is $249. Only a complete "F witt" would pay the price difference for Nikon.
godox is $110 here :O
Hey Ken! what is the proper cable to attach the PB960 battery to the TT685N?
ahhh, its on ebay for $20, its a godox cable :). which is same as a canon cable.
I saw the canon cable and did not realize it was the same one I need! Thanks Ken:)
Ken - Godox 685 or good used SB910?
Question! My Godox stays at full charge for the entire event while my AA batteries in my speedlite die out, so obviously the battery pack is NOT being used. I have already replaced teh cable...still happens. Any thoughts? I have already reached out to Godox and no one ever responds to emails....thanks!
Hi Ken did you say that you plan to make a tutorial for the godox tt685?
You finally seeing the Godox eco light system.
except for strobes, id never use it over Paul C Buff
Godox strobes is where we will disagree. Using them and putting them through the paces, they are more than adequate.
Nice shirt, Ken.
What strobe do you recommend?
Thanks for the video Ken.
Question for Godox users:
I have several Quantum battery packs and 580EXII. I am considering purchasing the TT685Cs and would like to use my existing quantum cables. Can anyone who uses Canon and Godox 685s tell me if the flash power connection is the same as Canon 580ex II (Canon(CX) ?
is this better than the sb600?
I had nissin without updated. It's great but I got three godox 350f units and the trigger for like the price of one nissin flash. Smaller units which I love plus I have hss where with nissin I would need to ship to the USA for update I'm in Canada. Sell my nissin. I love the godox small units I might pick up the 685 unit
Do you mean Profoto's $1000 umbrellas are not worth the money?
How does the pulse duration of the godox 685 compare to the pulse duration of the Sb 910 at 1/16 power?
i could check but all speedlights are pretty close to each other
I see... Thanks for the info!
Nissin Flash??? Nissin Air 1??? Comparatively?

Check out the color temp review of the new Godox AD600 Pro which is reviewed as more accurate than Profoto, Broncolor etc... ruclips.net/video/Ir6ahHW9HA0/видео.html
The Fstopper dude did that Profoto vs speed lights last week or so... Funny he did not mention his settings....
I love love! Nissin too, but their firmware update model is bullshit you have to send it back to Nissin for updates you can't buy grey if you want updates.
theyre ending that now from now on
The XPro trigger for Fuji out. Have been using it for a few weeks.

oh that's sad...haha! I paid like US$68 for it...hope it is not too expensive over there.
