It's masterful, and with their super-high sound recording standards sounds absolutely perfect. Better than this song, the songs on it show her amazing writing, and without crowd distractions, you get a lot of her really quirky personality. And her singing on the Tiny Desk? Beyond impressive. There's nothing wrong with Hot To Go. It's catchy. But it doesn't show off either her writing skill or singing skill, even if it does do a good job of showing how good she's become with a live crowd. I mean you're correct about how that crowd is reacting to her. Her being an act with THIS level of popularity is mere months old and crowds pretty much (rightfully) now react to her like they're seeing an icon... a Superstar.

This is honestly one of my least favorite songs from her, though I *do* still like it. Chappell just has many other songs with much more interesting lyrics and more unique vocals. I feel like the idea behind this song was to create a fun concert bop - and she definitely succeeded at that!! I hope you react to more songs from her in the future. I would love an album reaction honestly. It's an entire rollercoaster of emotion 💛
Love Chappell so much! She wrote this for the live audience interaction. She wanted a YMCA moment, and I think she's succeeded.
So much 80s influence and I'm here for it. I miss when artists leaned into emotional inflections more. Her whole album was a 'no skip' for me.
