If this song doesn’t fire you up then you have got no soul people. One year after this TV special Neil Diamond performed the greatest rendition of this classic at the Greek Theatre 1972 . I was in one of the the trees at that concert. Amen brothers
Blistered Blues Yes. My mother used to blast our house with Neil Diamond too. We didn’t know then that we were listening to high quality music. It was the Gospel aspect of his music that made it majestic I think. Neil Diamond was the best thing America gave to the world in the 1970’s. Seconded only by Elvis and his unique final album, Moody Blue. It’s another album I can listen to over and over. When I was a kid the album cover to Hot August Night used to fascinate me. But then again Album cover art/photography was part of the whole package. My mum claims it was her younger sister who got her into Neil Diamond. And when my mother loved an album. We heard it morning, noon and night. Especially when my dad had a bad hangover. She used to put it on 1st thing in the morning. And blast his brains out cause she was annoyed with his drinking. So funny.
I remember going to traveling revival meetings when I was growing up. They are still around but you can only find them through certain churches and they are held inside now. There are also traveling music shows such as Gaither Music Shows.
This man. Made me cry, laugh, love, hate. Experience life through his music. Thank you Neil Diamond for enriching my life. Every song took me on a journey.
Quentin Tarantino brought me here. I always liked Neil Diamonds music including this song but it was a bit before my time, Thanks to QT and his remarkable movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood... I am appreciating Neil Diamond more and more.
He is totally of that faith actually (!!!) why don’t you look it up? There ARE such things as Jewish believers in Jesus.. those were the very first ‘Christians’ (srsly, doesn’t just like EVERYONE already truly know this?!)
I find it wonderful. Old Christian Revival style. The New Covenant the Christ fulfilling the old covenant . Jesus and Mary the new Adam and Eve. Good on Neil for this great song
Ah the good old days! I'm 54 this brings such wonderful childhood memories. I adored Neil Diamond as a kid. He was a poet and fantastic Writer and composer.❤💛💚💙💜😘
Isn't he Jewish??? Wasn't the one who inspired the gospels a Jew? It's reported He lived and died one??? Is it a fact Neil doesn't believe in and love Jesus?
I remember listening to this song as a 13 year old during the during the Winter of 1968/69 when I would tune in to my local station WIXY1260 in Cleveland Ohio. Back then as a teen I was moved by the feeling and power of this song. Now as an older man who like many has witnessed so much over the past 53 years-I am still moved! Now to the point of tears with the memories…
I lived just south of Cleveland at that time. I remember that station! When I was a little older I graduated to WMMS. Home of the Buzzard! That was a great time to live there. A concert, or two, every weekend. I saw all the great bands there. Best time of my life. I saw Neil perform in downtown Cleveland. He was incredible. Still love this song.
I agree.. You will find Revivals in many denominations. I like CCR Catholic Charismatic Revivals but they in all Charismatic Churches. Pentecostal is always in Revival.. Try Cor et Lumen Christi if you Catholic
Makes me want to go to a tent revival, where Neil would be singing this powerhouse on a beautiful August night... I can smell that fresh night grass...❤🙏🏼
He takes it from the heart to the gut to the bone and All the way back. I have loved his brilliance for 40 years. The best alive today...along with Bowie. End of story.
I’m sort of here after seeing Once Upon A Time In America. I was reminded of the song By seeing it. And how good the song was. My mother played Neil Diamond when I was growing up in the 70’s. Loud. And we definitely owned the Album Hot August Night. People don’t realise how big Neil Diamond was in the 1970’s. And of course late 60’s. I’ve felt as I’ve listened back to his music...that he has a talent for making the intro to his songs almost the best part. He draws you in. Intrigues you. It’s so influential how he was in the Gospel Choir at High School. His song Holly Holy demonstrates it the most. And I love it as much as this song of his. Holly Holy is like a religious experience to listen to. Amazing Gospel back up singers.
This is one of my all time favorites as well. He fills my life with joy and brings me happiness just looking at his videos and listening to his beautiful deep and meaningful voice. Thanks for sharing this video of gorgeous Neil...........
HE GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS..............OH MY GOD, THANK YOU LORD FOR SUCH A MUSICAL GIFT, HE HAS TO BE FROM YOU LORD, HE IS SO CLOSE TO PERFECTION.........GOD YOU GAVE US ELVIS....AND YOU GAVE US THE JEWISH ELVIS, NEIL DIAMOND.................WOW. 2 SIDES OF THE SAME COIN..........
Hot August night And the leaves hanging down And the grass on the ground smelling sweet Move up the road To the outside of town And the sound of that good gospel beat Sits a ragged tent Where there ain't no trees And that gospel group Telling you and me It's love, Brother Love say Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show Pack up the babies And grab the old ladies And everyone goes 'Cause everyone knows Brother Love's show Room gets suddenly still And when you'd almost bet You could hear yourself sweat, he walks in Eyes black as coal And when he lifts his face Every ear in the place is on him Starting soft and slow Like a small earthquake mama And when he lets go Half the valley shakes It's love, Brother Love say Brother Love's Travellng Salvation Show Pack up the babies And grab the old ladies And everyone goes 'Cause everyone knows 'Bout Brother Love's show Hallelujah, brothers Halle-hallelujah I said brothers (Hallelujah) Now you got yourself two good hands (Halle-hallelujah) And when your brother is troubled, You gotta reach out your one hand for him (Hallelujah) 'Cause that's what it's there for (Halle-hallelujah) And when your heart is troubled, You gotta reach out your other hand (Hallelujah) Reach it out to the man up there (Halle-hallelujah) 'Cause that's what he's there for Take my hand in yours Walk with me this day In my heart I know I will never stray Halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle Love, Brother Love say Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show Pack up the babies And grab the old ladies And everyone goes I say love, Brother Love say Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show (Halle, halle) Pack up the babies And grab the old ladies And everyone goes Love, Brother Love say Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show
This is my favorite song by 0:11 Neil Diamond! It is so expressive and amazing. He starts soft and builds it up to sing forcefully with his awesome gravelly loud gravelly voice. He is a great singer songwriter! ❤️🎶💖
So thankful to my parents, to dance along, some Saturday eve, with us, with his LP... Is true that the film reminds me that... But I am here for Neil!!!!!!... This is such a tune! Love and greeting for you all, from an Argentinian woman!
Seriously, I saw this when I was a early teenager and. It knocked me off my feet and that was on an old 20-in black and white you can imagine what the new qled is doing to me LOL I love this guy!
I grew up listening to his music and I still do, I am ashamed to say that even though I just about all the Albums he has released I have only ever seen him in Concert once in Brisbane in the late 90's
Still Neil's boldest, edgiest (and yes, best) song--w/ a great groove, even! A Neil Diamond song that is actually cool--AND banned in certain parts of the country for being... CONTROVERSIAL: can you dig it?! Not bad for The Jewish Elvis!
When this song burst on the scene I was only 16 but he enflamed me with a fire for God and for this kind of music. Everyone wanted to have a Neil Diamond for their boyfriend back then. He really did it for me! I still love to look at him with all that hair.

I too used to blast this song on my stereo. I'm now 69 and wish I still had that stereo. I'd be blasting this song even now.❤😊
Blasting now on my Bose System. I'm 72
Me Too Too, born 54'. I got a 72" Vizio with Dolby Sound. I come out heya and put it on STUN, Yyyyeeeehaaawww
If this song doesn’t fire you up then you have got no soul people.

You knew it was about to get real when he placed his guitar in its stand…. ❤
Dad used to blast Neil Diamond throughout the house. This song takes me right back there. Hot August night...
This and Glen Campbell's "Galveston" were the first two pop songs I remember liking.
Blistered Blues
Yes. My mother used to blast our house with Neil Diamond too. We didn’t know then that we were listening to high quality music. It was the Gospel aspect of his music that made it majestic I think.

By his stripes we are healed
Thank You for Sharing your past memories, thinking about the old days.
My Dad did too. He had several albums on a reel to reel. Most young people probably don’t know what that is.
At the end of a summer day, driving home, too fast, over mountain roads, my 240Z humming, Brother Love blasting. Best of times. Thanks Neil.
Hell yeah! I’m right there with you except mine was a 67 Dart with the unstoppable slant six. Good memories
I just threw away my crutches.
This song and Neils's performance was truly a masterpiece!! Amazing song, wonderful performance!
O BOY, I REMEMBER THIS AS A KID......... WE NEED A BROTHER LOVES SALVATION SHOW TODAY....BEFORE ITS TO LATE... GOD BLESS YOU ALL..
2990rick oh yeah
He's on his way. Just waiting for the crew to clean up after Baal's past 4 years. Hang on it is about to get a bit warm.
You got that right!! 2021 🙏🙏
I remember going to traveling revival meetings when I was growing up. They are still around but you can only find them through certain churches and they are held inside now. There are also traveling music shows such as Gaither Music Shows.
Always liked his voice. There is no one that sounds like him
Ah but he was so gorgeous, both to listen to and to look at. Such talent in one body.
This man. Made me cry, laugh, love, hate. Experience life through his music. Thank you Neil Diamond for enriching my life. Every song took me on a journey.
Can't tell you how many times that this song has saved me.
Quentin Tarantino brought me here. I always liked Neil Diamonds music including this song but it was a bit before my time, Thanks to QT and his remarkable movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood... I am appreciating Neil Diamond more and more.
A great artist.....singing about a gospel preacher when he's not of that faith....what a good song it is.
The man shows us that what faith you might (by accident) belong to is not important
He is totally of that faith actually (!!!) why don’t you look it up? There ARE such things as Jewish believers in Jesus.. those were the very first ‘Christians’ (srsly, doesn’t just like EVERYONE already truly know this?!)
@@Juliet04738 Exactly, actually Jesus was Jewish.

not one if Neil’s biggest hits but I love it. he is a tremendously talented performer.👍🏽

He was a poet and fantastic Writer and composer.❤💛💚💙💜😘
Up there with the best songwriters in the world rock on Neil
Neil was my father's favorite artist, and this was his favorite song. Hard to believe dad that you've been gone for 25 years now. Love you.
A favorite of mine when I was young - 68 now - he always gives a great performance. Thanks for uploading this classic
close, me too...Jan '55....remember listening to this on my AM transistor radio - where'd the time go ....
@@buddydog1956 Loved listening to the music on the radio- WKRP in Cincinnati was a good show for how much we enjoyed listening to music
Great singer, fantastic song, something in air tonight
Every time i her this fabulous gospel..I sing with Niel, Hallelujah, Hallelujah..
Still gives me goosebumps after so many years. Great song, wonderful voice!
Isn't he Jewish??? Wasn't the one who inspired the gospels a Jew? It's reported He lived and died one??? Is it a fact Neil doesn't believe in and love Jesus?
71 and still blasting on the surround sound and tv
The song sets a scene in your mind, you can just see it all
The whole world loves that Man ❤️🎸 🎼🎶🎵💝.

Same! Born in 61, growing up in Columbus Ohio where I very first heard that song, and POWERFUL!! Nobody does music like Neil Diamond anymore!
This is the Neil Diamond I’ll always remember! 🙏🎤🎼 Singing my favorite ND song!
Holy eff! This is BRILLIANT!
Who else is here after watching ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD trailer ?
YES! This song is such a dynamic backdrop for that trailer.
Can't stop watching the trailer.
Me ! How didya guess? :-)
It’s funny. The 1st time I saw the trailer I was like man that song sounds great. Who is that? Now it’s on my iPod.
Saw the movie Thursday night, been listening to this nonstop since!!!
One of my Fathers favorite artists. thank you for the nostalgia
A True Treasure, his music brings a large variety of people together.
So PURE ! Amazing Talent of Days Gone By... Does not exist today. Wake Up Millennials! ... THIS IS MUSIC! Make it happen again!
Neil ... from the generation of originals!
We need more revivals. They're fun and we need them!!💝

I saw him 2 times in Concert. They were the best concerts I have ever seen. And I have seen 7
concerts.
That bass line when he's a-preachin' is heavenly, in itself!!!!!!
My aunt would play this on guitar, my mom on maracas and me on tambourine when I was in preschool at shows around town. It was really uplifting.
He takes it from the heart to the gut to the bone and All the way back. I have loved his brilliance for 40 years. The best alive today...along with Bowie. End of story.
Bowie is not in the same class with this guy. Not even close.

Hot August night
And the leaves hanging down
And the grass on the ground smelling sweet
Move up the road
To the outside of town
And the sound of that good gospel beat
Sits a ragged tent
Where there ain't no trees
And that gospel group
Telling you and me

Pack up the babies
And grab the old ladies
And everyone goes
'Cause everyone knows
Brother Love's show
Room gets suddenly still
And when you'd almost bet
You could hear yourself sweat, he walks in
Eyes black as coal
And when he lifts his face
Every ear in the place is on him
Starting soft and slow
Like a small earthquake mama
And when he lets go
Half the valley shakes
It's love, Brother Love say
Brother Love's Travellng Salvation Show
Pack up the babies
And grab the old ladies
And everyone goes
'Cause everyone knows
'Bout Brother Love's show
Hallelujah, brothers
Halle-hallelujah
I said brothers
(Hallelujah) Now you got yourself two good hands
(Halle-hallelujah) And when your brother is troubled,
You gotta reach out your one hand for him
(Hallelujah) 'Cause that's what it's there for
(Halle-hallelujah) And when your heart is troubled,
You gotta reach out your other hand
(Hallelujah) Reach it out to the man up there
(Halle-hallelujah) 'Cause that's what he's there for
Take my hand in yours
Walk with me this day
In my heart I know
I will never stray
Halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle
Love, Brother Love say
Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show
Pack up the babies
And grab the old ladies
And everyone goes

Beautiful picture and sound quality! One of his best songs! Love him!
His live album 'Hot August Night' was a smash in early 70's

I do not remember Neil Diamond being this HOT!
I have never really been a Neil Diamond fan. But growing up in the 70s it was hard not to be aware of his numerous hits. There is something not easy to define about the appeal of ND. To. me he has this primal sexuality that is not over the top, the growling, the baritone swishes he makes at the end of words, combined with more feminine sensitive aspects of her personality. All that hair and the way he uses the guitar aggressively and his posture and the way he puckers his lips, it's very sensual, if not more. And I think this is well thought out and ND does it beautifully. He has written some beautiful songs. This one is one of my fav, along with Sooolimaioon (sp?) I am I said and this one, Brother Love is fantastic. I think ND almost pioneered using this kind of evangelical style that other rock and roll bands have since used to much success. Billy Joel's River of Dreams, Talking Heads Once in a Lifetime.

I was listening to this on the radio when it first came out , this live version is fantastic !!!!
All I can think of is lost and found
I've been to a few of those tent REVIVAL meetings. Wish I could go again.
Summer time in Kentucky you can find them all over the place.
Its been 4 years hope you found one they will be more!
