great interview and great responses from Mark, glad to have him leading our league! Really hope we can get soccer specific stadiums for most of our clubs in the future, even if very small, but with coverage from elements, proper seats, team shops, LED adboards, proper grass fields, etc, this will definitely create a mich better product and atmosphere not only for those attending games but also for TV broadcasts....and love that he wants to get Alphonso Davies involved in a future Edmonton club! As an Eddies fan who grew up in Edmonton most of my life, I always envisioned an Edmonton CPL club selling out a proper small soccer specific stadium in the future, and why not have Davies retire there in front of his hometown fans! That would be a dream! Lets go CPL, lets go Canada!
The Halifax Wanderers is the best ticket in town. Great atmosphere, great product and excellent ownership. The venue is right in the heart of Halifax. I think St. John’s , NFLD would be a great addition to this League. The fans in Newfoundland and Labrador could support a team.
I like that he seems to have a very different idea of how a league should be run vs MLS. I live a few hours south of Winnipeg, but I’m more interested in CanPL at this point. MLS is trying to reinvent the wheel and looking dumb in the process.
You said it and hit the nail on the head. The fact that a national league is only drawing around 3000 on average shows that the league is struggling financially and is not the highest quality in the country. Most Canadian soccer fans don't know their history people in the GTA always wanted to see the best possible soccer around. Just look at the attendance numbers of when the Toronto Blizzard played in the NASL and when they played in the old national CSL. The CPL will most likely struggle for the next couple of years especially if the MLS has Canadian teams and the CPL will continue to primarily rely on domestic and young talent.
This man is so out to lunch. CSB deal is a joke. Vision for building facilities is a joke. There is a reason why U.S as he says throw money to build stadiums. It is simple they are not built for a sports team, but built as a multi entertainment facility. In Canada we are narrow minded. We build it for a team and not for a year round entertainment facility.
Great and well thought interview by Andy Petrillo! I am glad she asked about the Saskatoon team.

Not sure about NFLD (yet), but totally agree Halifax is an incredible show. They don't even have "proper" stadium seating, but wow, what atmosphere!

How was London not on the list
Play a LEAGUES CUP style tournament with USL 🇺🇸 and Liga Expansión MX 🇲🇽
More GTA teams? York United can’t draw more than 1200 to its game in a area with a population of more than 4 million people.

I agree. If this league wants to bring fans in they should focus on markets where there is less competition from other major sports teams.
dont ever fold. call it soccer.
