The comment makes perfect sense. US/NATO wanted this war not to help the people of Ukraine, but to use the people of Ukraine to harm Russia. Its a proxy war. Russia never expected this war to have gone on so long, that is why they attempted to negotiate at the start of the war. Russia had to make a point that they were not going to sit idly by and allow the potential of missiles to be placed on their border, so they went in expecting the other side to rationally assess the situation and see that they were in a no-win situation and come to the table. Unfortunately, there was uninvited guest at the table who pulled off the table cloth and now we are where we are. The other thing you must realize Russia is not about destroying Ukraine. They are the ones who are going to have to build back Ukraine when the dust is settled.
