@@rockymountainhomesteadangela Your most welcome! I am really enjoying watching your videos and learning more about canning and soap making. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me that means a lot😄
I’d love to see more about wheat berries, grinding them and recipes that are tried and true. Also, more freeze drying…what worked, what didn’t, what your kids like and what you and your husband like! Thanks for sharing so much with us!
Yes I would like to step by step videos on how to the different types of grains especially The Ancient Grains. ❤ Also the same with making the shampoo and conditioner and soap bars.
If a bird has an infection I’d be careful and not eat it. Just my personal preference. I feel it’s not safe. Like a lady said in a comment a dog might be able to handle it as long as it’s cooked not raw. Me personally infected birds I’d would not want to consume. Some people may cook it and say it’s cooked not going to hurt me. Me personally nope. Better safe than sorry. I’ve never use wheat berries, and that would be something to learn. Something new at 60 years old. Didn’t have RUclips when I was younger, so I’m getting a late start learning things. I’ve learned a lot over the years don’t get me wrong. But there are some things I wish I could’ve learned when I was in my 20s and 30s instead of now. But, better late than never.❤
We have loved our freeze dryer. Total game changer in our house. We freeze dry everything and use it non stop. I am excited to see more of what you are freeze drying and learn from you.
Preserving food is a lot of work but so worth it knowing what you’re eating. What I can’t grow I also purchase from Azure and preserve it. I’ve recently purchased a freeze dryer which should be up and running soon. I also purchased a grain mill a couple of years ago and have stocked up on wheat berries. I would enjoy seeing videos on how you are using them and the recipes you like using. I don’t think you can ever not gain some new info! I’m making a switch to making my own personal care products as well as cleaners. We’ve been eating pretty clean for several years now but still troubled with health issues. Recently made a commitment to myself to make changes with all the non food items I use. This area I feel is the one thing I don’t see as much in videos. Great video Angela, thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing the videos you come out with!
Mike and I have faced our own health issues too, and that's what kicked me in gear to get back to making natural products for the home like I used to. I've really tried to make better choices with our food over the last year. Its not always easy with kids. Slow but steady!
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela I’m not sure it’s even easy with adults! As grateful as I am to have more knowledge today, it also means a lot of work to educate myself etc. I’m hoping that although my kids are grown with their own families, that I’ll still be able to help to encourage them in some new ways of thinking as well. Best of luck to you as you continue your in your own health journey!
I'm on board with the soap and shampoo bar how to's. Also new to grinding wheat berries. Any and all of your videos are some of my favorite. So happy you're back to making them!!
While we are in different seasons of life and I am late to the preservation table, I would happily watch any of your videos. Cheers from country QLD Australia 🇦🇺
We just purchased our grain mill and am excited and scared to use it all at the same time, so YES, please share and show us what and how you use yours and how you use your wheat berries. Please and Thank You so much😊
I love watching what other people can. I have found a love of some canning. Like crockpot apple sauce and crockpot apple butter. My husband said I can never eat store bought again after I canned some. I do not pressure can or have the tools, yet. I really want to though.
I’m sure you’re prepared for power outages, but a lot of people in Boulder, Westminster, etc weren’t over the weekend when Xcel turned off our electricity for 30 hours with only a EMAIL warning 10 minutes before they shut it off. Before turning it back on they were actually saying it may be an additional day or more. So many lost all their food like you can imagine. Love your channel!
Wow, that's crazy! I was just talking to a neighbor down the road yesterday who has a whole house generator. We're looking into it. Right now, we only have a small generator that runs the fridges and freezers in the garage, and that's it!!
That’s a great start for sure! Those freezers have to be protected at all cost. For inside we just used large camping lights, we always have downloaded movies so we were able to watch those. In the dead of winter or heat of summer it would have been way worse.
I am new using wheatberries. PLEASE show some videos. Thank you! I see you also keep all purpose flour as well. Do you make the Cleaner that you use on your granite countertops? I also realized it is equal price to buy dehydrated lemons from Azure rather than dehydrating myself. Thanks for the info on canning the potatoes.
I've got a couple of wheatberry recipe videos coming out soon! 😊Also, I do make my cleaners and the granite cleaner is my favorite, I will link the video with that recipe ruclips.net/video/r0IgtGIjw-E/видео.htmlsi=x03mWfqMK4eWowdP
I don’t currently use wheat berries but would love to learn more about them. Soap and shampoo making video would be awesome! And I always love your cooking and canning videos the best ❤
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela oh yeah- and your bumblefoot question… if you haven’t already dispatched him I think you’re fine to dispatch and process. I googled “is it okay to process a turkey with bumblefoot” and the backyard chickens forum had a few posts where people said it’s perfectly fine. I would do it if one of mine had it. Gobble gobble! 🦃
I make your quick dinner rolls regularly and plan to make your Pullman loaf bread . I’m asking for the pans for Mother’s Day. I think would like to get a grain mill . Don’t know which one to get and if my family will like fresh milled ? Appreciate learning all I can from you. 😊 Bumblefoot - we have had 2 hens with this . Both we lanced it and treated with antibiotic cream and wrapped it . Second hen it stayed a large bump , didn’t go away , but she seems fine. No head on it and it’s been 8 months. I have processed birds and personally I wouldn’t eat it . It’s not worth a potential doctor bill for you .
I'm so happy to hear you enjoy the rolls! The Pullman Pans are great. I will be putting some videos out soon using grains. I personally love the wondermill I have. It's been going strong for years and is used often. There are so many great ones out there. Thank you for mentioning the bumblefoot. I have never dealt with it in all the years of raising poultry, but I knew it would happen eventually.
Angela, don't eat the turkey, however dogs are more resistant to staph. Cook the turkey and process for dog food. Good use of the bird. Or compost it but in our area that's inviting predators to come close to the homestead. Hope this helps.
I honestly did not measure. I had so many different sized potatoes, and it depends on how big you choose to cube them. I just grabbed as many as I did and had a couple extra pieces that didnt fit. I have a video coming out ( if all goes well with editing, it will be out tomorrow afternoon). I show the process step-by-step. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer! 🩷
I vote for a step by step video of soap making 🙌🏻
That will be happening! Next batch, I make 😊
@@rockymountainhomesteadangela I am also interested in shampoo bars.
You are getting so much accomplished and I respect people who work hard and also your balancing your time wisely:) Thanks for the video.😃
