There was no guarantee that Paypal would succeed. If he had not succeeded, people would call him a loser. Now that he won, people hate him. F them. Peter is a G! Good job Pete.
Reality. If Elon failed, he would be called scamming artist stealing investors money with crazy unrealistic ideas. Enron like money scheme is still going on at many traded companies. But those companies are able to keep float by lucks, still quite profitable.
Great video! Just wondering. If founders or early employees buy shares through a Roth IRA, they become “disqualified persons” right?? Therefore, these people are unable work on the day-to-day activities of the company?? Is that correct? So was Peter Thiel able to work at PayPal in any capacity after he bought shares in a Roth??? Thanks for any insights.
Great explanation, but what’s the lesson? Be an executive at a burgeoning business and manage to get a shitload of stock at PAR value? Cool story, but it’s not like a strategy or anything a regular person can do
It is easy for CEO to steal shareholder's money especially when the company is not on open market. PAR value can be set at their pleasure. For public companies, as Buffett pointed out, stock options for CEO are form of stealing from shareholders. CEO decade long term options in Roth IRA can do the same trick.
@@alexoolau When you are a founder, the shares are worth nothing at first. There is no value at all to an empty shell of a company, a blank canvas to paint on. It’s not stealing at all. If you’re an artist and you buy the paints and canvas for a few dollars, that’s because they’re actually worth that little. What you create with them is where you create new value.
Yes. But the annual contribution limit applies to all accounts collectively - $6500 _total_ max contribution in 2023, but you can split it across any or all of your Roth accounts
For anyone confused at 10:25 and 10:44, the words on screen should not have a dollar sign. He bought 1.7 million _shares_ not dollars.

That's before PayPal went public
You don't run your traditional IRA through your employer. That would be a traditional 401k/403/etc. IRAs are self directed.
This was a good video I’m definitely going to take this approach for my long-term investing. I’m just trying to figure out who has the best SDIRA?🤔🤔
Glad it was helpful!
Imagine if Peter Thiel invested more money than $1700! 🤯
