Fantastic video and walkthrough - thank you for your detailed review of this. The parking mode seems like a great feature, and it doesn't require an additional battery or wiring a shut-off timer into the fusebox like a Blackvue dashcam - I like it!
I had a similar issue but found out that if you disconnect your phone from Apple Carplay thus also disconnencting the vehicle wifi I was able to connect to the dashcam. Seems to be a flaw in the software I'd expect Porsche to fix ASAP.
I have the dashcam but was unable to connect to iPhone. The man at the Porsche centre was similarly unable to succeed where i'd failed. He DID connect to his iPhone the first time he tried but was unable to connect the second time he tried.

Hi, Thanks for the great video ! One question about the parking mode, if I understood correctly the detection is based on G-Sensor or Movement, does it work on main battery o internal battery ? If it works with an internal battery, for how long ? (sometimes my car is parked for more than a week) If on the main battery, is there any risk of making the battery unservicable or any protection before < 12 Volts ? Thanks
You can’t use the same phone to connect CarPlay while you want to connect the dash cam as well??? You expect every driver or owner can have 2 phones or 2 devices to connect at the same time?
Great video explaining at last a dash cam from Porsche. But Porsche are so late to the market on this. I already have the 2 camera Blackvue. As mentioned below, this should simply be integrated into the car, as manufacturing option, utilising all cameras already around the car. Come on Porsche.
@@Princessoutlaw I could be wrong but I don't think it's possible. Rear cameras are usually mounted on the rear windshield, which prevent it from folding flat when the top is down. Although if the front camera can look/record rearward then it's just as good when the top is down. When the top is up it can still see out the rear windshield but the view is probably small.
Hey there! I know that we are waiting for news on the rear dash cam, but I was wondering if a car experienced some Sort of impact from The rear that set off the vibration sensor would it start recording. I ask this because my car was recently backed into something by the valet at a hotel I was staying at. I know this was not damage I caused to my vehicle…. And everything in the car starts beeping when you get near anything. I wonder, if I had the dash cam (even if it only records forward) and I would have been able to hear what was going on in the car at point of impact along with having a forward view of where the impact happened, would that be enough to prove liability. Also, What about any impact on the sides of the vehicle? Are we talking months, years, for a camera with both front and rear or would the rear be a separate camera all Together that would Need to be purchased separate and installed. Do I wait for the rear camera or Purchase the front dash camera and then wait for the rear? A lot of questions I know! Just don’t want to pay for a camera that I’m going to have to order and pay for again later. Thank you In advance for your reply!
Good afternoon and thank you for your enquiry. Some very good questions there. The parking sensor function of the dashcam should pick up any shocks to the vehicle no matter where they come from, but it will all depend on the actual situation and severity of the impact. In regards to the rear dashcam, still no exact date for arrival as of yet. But I can tell you it will be a separate unit which will need to be installed on the rear windscreen. I hope that helps, send us another message or give us a call and we will be happy to clear up any details.
Hi, we have just had our dashcam fitted to our Taycan XT and I am confused as to how we can view footage remotely. It appears we can only view footage via the app (both live and recorded) if we are sitting in the vehicle. In addition, should it be sending alerts to my app remotely if it senses any events in Park mode? Thanks
Good morning Kiran, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to view the footage remotely through the Dashcam app. The App needs to be connected to the Dashcam’s Wi-Fi network to see the recorded and live footage, which requires the car to be turned on and the phone in range of the Wi-Fi network. I can not see any settings in the app for notifications, so I don’t believe you will receive anything when an event happens in parking mode. If an event occurs in parking mode, the Dashcam records a 20-second sequence which is then stored in a folder on the Micro SD. You can retrieve the footage by either accessing the Dashcam app whilst in the car, or by taking out the Micro SD and retrieving the footage from a comparable device. I hope that is of some help. Please get in touch with us directly if there is anything else we can help with.
I ordered dashcam factory pre-installation with my 2025 911 GTS. Are there any upgrades in the Porsche dashcam itself for 2025? I have used a Garmin dash cam in my previous Porsche Boxster and wired it to the OBD. Will I be able to find power for the Garmin in the factory pre-wiring? Is there any way to install a rear camera in a cabriolet? Thanks.
Hiya Danny. Recordings can be downloaded directly from the SD card or via the app. These can be downloaded to your phone as well as computer or laptop at home if necessary. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Hi Joe, Unfortunately we've got no news about a rear camera as of yet. However, the technology built into the dashcam night means you'll be able to clearly see footage from anytime of day or night. The camera uses infa-red technology and records in QHD (1440p) to provide a bright and clear image, even during a dark night. It also has a 'park' mode built in whereby after you leave your vehicle at night, it is ready in a sleeping state to activate and record if the vibration sensor or radar sensor are activated. Therefore, your car is protected at all times.
Taycan cross turismo has several cameras around the car, Why you dont use these cameras to record and watch what happens around your car? It would be fantastic to be able to record the whole cars surroundings. Specially in the garages or parkings where the most thefts occur.
As Tesla has it since years.... 👍 It's not tricky to do it, only the will stops the engineering. Porsche has to program the PCM to do so and offer it over mobile connections. Tesla has it. Live recording can be seen everywhere in the world by your mobile device via App, including alerts on your mobile phone if you want. Hope they do so this year, because they offer pre-installed dashcam holders front and rear on all Taycan....

I check the Dashcam footage and I always can't get the latest footage. Always it's like 1 or 2 days ago only. I can only see today's footage either tomorrow or the following day. Why is that?
Hi there, Apologies for the delayed response. We have been speaking with Porsche about this as we can't say we are familiar with this issue. As a starting point we would just ask that you haven't changed the SD card? As the one provided has a particular specification. If not, then we would suggest you checking the SD card for the footage rather than your phone. If this is still a problem then please give our Centre a call on 0151 373 4899 as we may need to take a look at this in person.
Hi, Thank you for your comment. That is a strange one, firstly I would recommend checking that your phone is running the latest software and that it has been turned off/restarted recently. That usually solves any niggling issues like that. I would also check that the memory card inserted is the one that was provided with the Dashcam as it has a particular specification. If you are still experiencing problems after checking those things, I would recommend booking it in to a Porsche Centre to have it looked over. In the mean time you can always remove the memory card and insert it directly into a computer to get all of the footage you need. I hope that helps. If you have any more questions, get in touch with us on info@porschechester.co.uk and we will be more than happy to help.
