The Hutchinson Northern boxcars were originally made for a salt company and their short line railroad Hutchinson Northern in Hutchinson Kansas. They had an electric engine in the early days of existence but later had some diesel power, I think Alcos. They hauled salt from the salt mines and evaporation plants to the main yards of Santa Fe. The boxcars were painted a green color with white lettering. Hutchinson is nicknamed the Salt City because of the huge salt beds under the city. There is a mine as well as evaporation plants. Morton Salt, Cargill Salt still are there and a private company runs the mine. Carey Salt was the biggest one years ago.

I saw that wrapped EMDX 3018 sticking out at the rail yard at the Morehead City NC State Port. Also saw a few other engines that were narrow gauge there. Guessing they're headed for the UK, as they have both standard gauge and narrow gauge in common use there.
The Grab Bag is my favorite habit. I thought the Chehalis Carrot Festival had passed, but !Shazam!. the piles of the bunny bachanal are back! I do find the camera work and content of Grab Bag to be outstanding. True professionals.

Lots going on at the Fort in Iowa a new creative art compilation of a parade on granite building! A visitor visiting the parade appears to be a pilot of the Blue Angles! Or a super big fan. Wave of the day is at the Fort of Iowa a UP engineer. A large barge boat cruising about by the Fort. Totally nice CIT capital financial CETX gray switcher was out in Missouri today running with big engines. In Kearny CN and KSC are visiting with a unknown engine...maybe it said AC? At the spaghetti works building in Wichita the Kansas & Oklahoma engines are sharing the night life with the neon blue Colorado Pacific. That dark DOD caboose is not black it is dark dark Navy Blue in Washington state. Last but not least OK City it appears a immature opossum, they too are good mousers. The opossum is super clean marsupial. If I recall correctly they do not get rabies very easily. They are cleaner uppers too! Thanks

I don't believe those EMDX SDs are the Metra MACHs, mostly because if they were, they're heading the wrong direction and Metra wouldn't be so goofy as to install whatever that thing is on the rear radiator.
It is. The covers are marked that way because the locomotives are inactive and have yet to be delivered to their operators. My guess is that they're SD70ACS units heading over to the Middle East/North Africa. The variant is geared towards operations in desert environments with additional dust protection and heavy-duty AC units.

Those Rio Grande coal hoppers are getting very rare to see. Especially the ones with little or no graffiti on them. Example at 1:28.

I don't believe those EMDX SDs are the Metra MACHs, mostly because if they were, they're heading the wrong direction and Metra wouldn't be so goofy as to install whatever that thing is on the rear radiator.

It is. The covers are marked that way because the locomotives are inactive and have yet to be delivered to their operators. My guess is that they're SD70ACS units heading over to the Middle East/North Africa. The variant is geared towards operations in desert environments with additional dust protection and heavy-duty AC units.
