When a guitar player moves to Nashville it's not news. But Robben moving to town is like the most notorious gunslinger in the old West riding in. He's still got all those wonderful chops.
@@mchristr - he's literally beyond words - I'd love to write an autobiography with accompanying CDs.... Anyone interested in collaborating and seeing if Robben would be up for it ?? I'm sure people would love it
I love how Robben has no clue he has a vinyl record out lol. Classic Robben. He's 100% about kicking your ass on stage. It was a blast opening up for this cat.
The thing I love the most about Robben is his ego doesn't get in the way of his music!…He's played with Miles Davis FFS and countless other musicians playing every other instrument and his attitude is always 'bring it on'…What an absolutely privilege it must be if Robben says 'Yeah, play with us tonight.'
Fantastic, a great concept band. Robben is right, the sound comes from your fingers and all your ideas, this gentleman has been playing for years in the blues and his advanced style is combined with great jazz and fusion influences, a person with an very open mind.
I saw him at the Pistoia Blues Festival, Italy in 2019. Eric Gales opened and was great. But Robben Ford! With all the due respect to Gales, Ford is really on another level as a guitar player AND as musician.
This is what really amazes me about Nashville. You can get so incredibly talented musicians at the drop of a hat. And you can see they actually enjoy the music and the playing. It is not only about the money, they love what they do, and they completely bond into the piece! that's so precious. Robben Ford never cease to find new sides of his immense talent. And what he gets from a white guard 60's Telecaster coupled with a Fender Vibro is just majestic. It sounds just like the Dumble. Not sure what pedal he is using. Anyway, just magic!
Love the unison of the guitar and horns playing together. It reminds me of the solo Robben did with Tom Scott on the song “That’s Why” on Michael McDonald‘s album If That’s What it Takes.
SAW HIM DO A CLINIC IN SANTA CRUZ, CA. 1981, AND HAD BY CHANCE SEEN HIM PLAY ON T.V. IN A SIMULCAST, WHEN I WAS LIVING IN VALENCIA LATE 1970's. HAVE SEEN HIM IN THE CHARLES FORD BAND TOO AT THE KUMBWA IN SANTA CRUZ AROUND THE SAME TIME. SAW HIM WITH THE YELLOW JACKETS AT THE CATALYST, AND TWICE IN NYC. BIG FAN OF HIS APPROACH.
seeing him tonight in St Kilda at Memo musical hall (in melbourne). last time I saw him was in Subiaco (Western Australia) playing with Dave Sanborn in the early 1990s. super excited
I love Robben for his self effacing, totally laid back style. Watch him Jam with someone like Larry Carlton and he is just a fan like the rest of us. He is easily in the same league but just looks happy to be there. I think the secret of a great musician is they still get excited by what they and other musicians do. Although not highlighted here, he is also a phenomenally good singer who phrases beautifully over the beat.
Guthrie govan was the same way when describing how he had the opportunity to jam with robben Ford, like it was a religious experience. Imagine how awesome that'd be
15:06 hexagonal chords ? bu ba be ba bu sofa king again. this is my favorite FORD BAND other then the FORD BROTHERS BAND. NEED TO KNOW BOTH SAX TYPES BASS AND SOPRANO MAYBE ? WITH FORD GRAZING FREE RANGE ANYPLACE ELSE BUT THE HORNS OR BASS. SO THE HORNS ARRANGED ALREADY WITH DRUMS BASS ALSO THERE LEAVES AREAS TO COMP OR BE OUT OF THE WAY BUT IN THE FLOW. DIGGING THIS DISCIPLINE
He has that heavy echo for the song "Go", same as on the album. I suppose he just forgot to turn the mix down on the pedal before the next song. Also thought it was quite heavy echo.
One of the few guitarists I really enjoy. His improvisation is so original and accessible.
Robben is The Maestro - a once in a lifetime guitarist - beautiful, soulful - time, tone, technique, touch, and so much more. Brilliant.
When a guitar player moves to Nashville it's not news. But Robben moving to town is like the most notorious gunslinger in the old West riding in. He's still got all those wonderful chops.
Best thing for Robben's creative being and best thing to happen to Nashville!
What do you expect from Robben Ford? Nashville has got nothing to do with it. This gig is in Brazil by the way.
They sound like they've been playing together Way longer than, " We just met today"...Amazing. Luv that jazzy/Blues sound!

I could watch Robben play endlessly, so nice....
I love how Robben has no clue he has a vinyl record out lol. Classic Robben. He's 100% about kicking your ass on stage. It was a blast opening up for this cat.
Robben was incredible, but gotta give kudos to that band. Wow, they are great as well.
@@johnnymossville -yes, superb band !! And Brian has been with Robben so much for so long - it's telepathic

Robben Ford! Period!
the world doesn't hear enough good Bari sax!
I'm not sure, but I think they've rolled off the low end of it -- I was expecting more body.
Freaking love bartitone -- and tuba too !
@@davidespinosa1910 He’s playing a very bright setup.
*...it's all about that tone...* Thanks for taking us along Robben. Excellent as usual.

Fantastic. Power trio with horns, awesome.
the thing about R is that the man was born quiet rightly to play the blues. dig his new release. dig all his music. quality level 100% .
I saw him at the Pistoia Blues Festival, Italy in 2019. Eric Gales opened and was great. But Robben Ford! With all the due respect to Gales, Ford is really on another level as a guitar player AND as musician.
no doubt....

Ah.I love it ..that is that is it..
I hope it is the wright kind..
I think it’s the zen drive
He generally uses either a Zendrive or Cornerstone Gladio SC, both are on his board
Hearing Robben play always evokes excitement in my whole body haha he`s playing always is so exciting and on "edge"
Love it! Robben is the man!
Watching from Buenos Aires, for real! great set!!
0:31 go (pure)
9:31 what I haven't done (purple house)
22:47 white rock beer...8 cents (pure)
That bass !
Love the unison of the guitar and horns playing together. It reminds me of the solo Robben did with Tom Scott on the song “That’s Why” on Michael McDonald‘s album If That’s What it Takes.
Damn. Robben is on fire here. Good God. He must be kicking it with "those" Nashville players. Overall great band. Would love to catch them sometime.
Just superb! Love Kelly's appearence too! Thanks so much to this window into Robben's creativity and genius. Kudos!
I always dream about a record with Maestro Robben Ford and Maestro Derek Trucks--maybe one day
Ladies and gentlemen: Alex Lifeson on bass!
I was just going to say the same thing. Good one. And Robben please come to Philly area!
And Glenn Hughes on guitar and vocals.
No shit...
I don’t know; might be a lost Nimmo brother…
Man, the wail of the tele on bridge pickup and full force in some of the solos. Powerful tool in the right hands.

This band deserves every bit of positive feedback it gets and then some. T. Ferris
decades of inspiration thanks SIR
What a treat, band playing great and wonderful to see Brian on the bass again, thx for this guys
That is the most Fender sounding Fender amp I’ve heard in quite a while if that makes any sense. Killer audio on this!
absolutely wonderful performance
His vocals are fantastic here.
That guitar tone! Wow! Wild!
Bass player is killing it
Kick ass ending solo. The one and the only Robben
Came here from looking at videos of dumble amps, and found some badass sax players. Thank you youtube.

Brian Allen, what a pocket! The whole band is great!
Saludos maestro. Robben. Lo estamos viendo desde chile........
Robben playing better than ever!
Merci monsieur Robben Ford beaucoup de talent et d'efforts pour arrivé à faire une musique que l'on appelle le blues que j'aime merci à tous le groupe
As a guitarist, tenor sax player and robben obsessive this is.. Rather good
wow! from note 1 I was smiling. Cool how the bass player is grooving and enjoying the show
Thanks for reminding me what an absolute monster this man is...

As always sharp tone, this is what great musicians do ……..☮️🎶🔛🌎
This was a great listen. Thank you!
This is how to play!!! This video deserves more recognition! Totally good vibes ;)

did not disappoint - OMFG, outstanding.
Love, love, love this!!!!!
Thank you for this. What a treat to hear it live.
Wow - so good 🔥🎶- Robben (and the whole band) is so on there🔥🎶such a pocket - unbelieve ... they met on the day only ....
Что бы мы делали без таких замечательных музыкантов в этом мире? Спасибо Роббин!
I love his tone so much here
That's some nice timber decking. And: this Robben Ford gig kicks arse.
I agree, the lights and the flower pots really set it off
On the album sax players are Jeff Coffin and Bill Evans, but that’s not who these guys are. So who are they?
Gotta get this new album
Robben on fire that last tune! thanks for doing this guys!
great right hand! deadly strums !
Awesome looking P-Bass. Also Robben's neck pickup tone, sheesh. Super nice.

This is a great instrumentation
Enjoy this immensely
This stuff is just in the pocket, it's grooving music 🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵. Mr.Ford used to play with Miles Davis back in the day.
Fabulous :)
Dream band !!!!! Wow
Very cool. Raw and live 🙏

Awesome stuff!!!!
Wow. Wonderful
Man, how they're feelin' it!
wow, that‘s damn groovy!!
Amazing amazing amazing
Incredible!
GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!
from the audio: sounded like: Brian Allen bass, Marcus Finnie drums, Jovan Quallo t sax, & Kevin Gatzke b sax
(sp corrected: thx HPM)
Jovan Quallo & Kevin Gatzke
Every once in awhile the bass player gives that, holy smokes, look at RF. Cool.
Fantastic!!!! From my point of view a bit too much echo in the guitar sound....
He has that heavy echo for the song "Go", same as on the album. I suppose he just forgot to turn the mix down on the pedal before the next song. Also thought it was quite heavy echo.
I have noticed alot of reverb and delay with most guitar players playing outside. I am guilty myself. Made note to self. Lol
Yes. Lately he blends it in too much for my taste. It loses presence….but his playing…..still nothing touches his touch. Amazing composer and player.
COOL SOUNDS 😎 jessenashvillejames 👍 ...
Awesome
great players 👏
The most stretched out 7 I've ever heard !!!! Beautiful!!
F**king killer!!! This cured my depression!!!
I agree that sound is from the person - but a 1960 tele certainly doesn’t hurt.
12:46 I've been there. Not a great feeling.
Did they really meet that day? As Robben said.
Wow!
Love how the guys are afraid of the bug, and the woman goes and grabs it (16:25).
Nice.
