I don’t know the outcome, but he was one of those employees who took a break about ten minutes before the time to leave and didn’t come back until only a few minutes before he had to leave for the day.
Such an evil corporation
they all probably are we have a dystopia of corporations in general
😮 "THE BEGINNING OF THE, trump administration, 2025"!!. AND, HIS BUS IS FULL OF "CLOWNS"!!.😅 THE WHOLE WORLD IS LAUGHING, AT THE "USA"!!. 😂 THANKS, DON. "YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO DO BETTER!!.🎉 YOU!, accomplished that goal!!.😊
Good. Have a kid or do your job. Your choice. Im sick of parents getting all yhe tax breaks and extra vacation time. YOU CHOSE TO BREED. DEAL WITH IT.
Google ceo laughed all the way to the bank🤣
all tech companies of 21st century are all making money to be corrupt
People believing that they should have a job for life…
The law is clear the company doesn’t have to keep your position for you when you return. Sucks but true
It’s not just Google but every tech company in Bay Area.
Imagine a company not wanting to pay for people not to work. Just go focus on your family, that was your choice. If you were necessary you wouldn't have been laid off.
Breeders already get tax incentives. All they do is want want want want
Want what? A job? Being a parent is the best thing anyone can ever do. I hope one day you can see children for the blessings they are.
@ nope
1:44 but there's the question, was everyone who was let go on parental leave?
I am sure we will see something similar to what we saw happen with that healthcare company happen with other companies as people grow tired of this stuff
Quit applying to work at Google and other tech giants. Start your own startup up . Force them fix their company policy and culture.
All women startups have been done already. Take a look at how they turned out.
Boycott Google Ads
Google is discriminating against the stock holders too!
Yeah my employer had to deal with a useless individual that was pregnant. They couldn't get her to do any work but they knew that they would likely end up in a lawsuit if they fired her so they sat her down in an office by herself, with no work, no phone, no communication with other employees. Eventually she stopped coming into work, they considered that job abandonment. Problem solved.
It's not job abandonment if I have proof they gave me no work
So they gave her no work, but it was job abandonment...that doesn't make sense, if there was no work...what job did she abandon. That sounds like your company ran a scheme to kick someone out of a job, by basically lying about job performance. Dear "Useless pregnant woman," you may have a lawsuit after all. (Screenshot your co-workers comment)
This is literally discrimination you're describing. If your job is willing to do this to someone else they can do it to you. Not a place anyone should want to work for.
You all woke clowns are poor at comprehension aren’t you. She was not doing her work. Read first before screaming.
then you come in and sit and collect the check. you don’t just stop showing up and give them an out
2025 is going to see many big companies and spoiled, privileged, greedy men taking a hit. Between the bad companies behaviour towards it's employees and all those being caught out in sexual assaults, companies cheating it's consumers (insurance co) this is going to be messy.
Paula I hope you win!
Absolutely disgusting to be targeting young mothers who need the money more than ever to support their young child. Never buying a google product again
If young mothers were not meeting job expectations or go through a reorganization , they have to be fired like everyone else.
Greed-gle 😈
How woke of them! Almost like they woke wash outwardly, but internally don’t give a sh*t about any of the employees like 99% of corporate America…
Can we accept the fact she may not be all that talented?
Employers aren’t usually interested in letting competent, hardworking people go.
It’s inevitable that some of them will get let go. That’s life.
I’ve worked in Silicon Valley for a few startups. It happens. Jobs aren’t guaranteed for life.
She was working since 2010.
It sounds like you are not talented & self-centererd.
probably some Indian or Chinese manager who thought it would be perfectly OK to do so.
They recruited her from another country...and she's been working there for over a decade...these are actual facts ... That you need to accept.
@Google “Replace CEO” support American workforce!!!
They would go down the drain.
The board of directors needs to fire all these Kenneth Lay-wannabe executives and get some who actually would have taken the MBA Pledge. Y'know, the promise to not pull the kinds of shenanigans that end with liquidation, fines, or like Lay, jail time ?
Sick. Disgusting!
why does the voice over of this story sound like that....yikes
Everyone was getting laid off
this is going to be a growing thing when it is cheaper to pay fro ppl to off their kids then taking time off after the kids are born
Surprise, companies don’t want to pay for an employee to not work.
Those youngins who they hire to replace, will too want to become parents one day. Fix it while you can google.🙄
Do no evil my ass.
Google, "be Evil"
might those laid off while on FMLA likely have a support system in place?
Googles policy goes well beyond FMLA, she has a good lawsuit, because they went against their own policy ...which is what google does all the time on RUclips
Parental leave is a racket. Employers are expected to hold your job until you decide to come back? Employers have a business to run and need a reliable workforce. If you want to quit your job to raise a family, that’s fine. You just can’t have it both ways.
Don’t offer parental leave if your company is so fragile that it can’t handle to actually allow your employees to use it.
@@pollyd8548 The company doesn't offer parental leave, the government mandates and provides it
@ So it’s not a racket then? Perfect, then companies have no excuse if they want to operate in the US. If they can’t afford, open a sweatshop in a different country.
@@wook1750if it's mandated then that means the company offers parental leave
@@wook1750 As they should in any civilized society.
*This is not new. a lot of company for profit do this all the time.*

Sounds like bonding time. Happens all the time in work force people gone from office easy to fire. Your a ghost. Make yourself available every day and give your all. or be replaced new normal, old standards. Fail and than you sue. Seen it many times.
Stop bsing
Why pay someone for not working regardless of their reason when yu have young ppl lined up straight out of college waiting nd begging for jobs? 9-5s aren’t supposed to be the end all be all nd I’m glad society if shifting away from tht. If ur on maternal leave then js LEAVE. Respectfully there are 21 year olds who are better nd work faster than yu would who are struggling to find jobs out of college. Ur only valuable to a business as ur available to them. If it were men in maternal leave I’d be saying the same thing, seriously. What are YU doing better than the young guys nd girls out of college waiting on a tech job?
EVERY woman or man on parental leave isn’t being fired but the media will only highlight the bad instead of the good. Jobs never cared deeply about their employees it’s only about what yu can offer them. Ppl js tryna make headlines, get their five seconds nd a discriminatory lawsuit settlement. Shiii ion blame em, get tht bag ya 😅😅👀
Trust acts, not words.
Why is everyone in the comment section acting like it’s not true that as you age your brain slows down? you need quick thinking people to operate high intensity technological development
no shit getting rid of some of your mostly costly employees aligns with what the business wants
Get rid of your wife's job.
How convenient after their new quantum computer became operational using AI algorithms
Lol. Blaming technology when it's the same old game of outsourcing to India
To my knowledge, the jobs being lost aren't jobs AI is currently capable of handling. What evidence do you have to suggest a connection?
Quantum computing will replace nations of people
It’s a private company don’t work for them 😂
Money money money, dig for money because you were the expired batch.
so what were their roles? maybe they were all on a team that didnt produce anything or the project was cancelled.
💯
Same thing happened with someone I know
We're special...we're parents....we deserve uninhibited employment...forever!! lol
Sounds like someone is childless & is not planning to have one.
@@tl1533 My kid is 37....way past parenting...This whole..."We gotta coddle you cause you got kids" routine is nauseating to say the least and if it weren't law, no company on God's Green Earth would pay ya and keep ya around when everyone, I mean EVERYONE is expendable...Call it for what it is....
and this is why the US is a shithole.
You don't understand what leave is do you. And it was Google that states they can have up to 24 weeks of leave (their policy, not the government) and an additional 3 months of remote work time (again their policy, not the government) she kept up her end of the contract, if they want to renig after the fact ... That's a lawsuit.
@@ericdwhitmorec Or did they have no ideas that she was away on "Leave?" maybe it was random...Maybe it was direct...Maybe they pulled a name out a hat! Hm....I know....Google is such a small company...How could they NOT know!! as im sure like ALL Google employees....absolutely without a shadow of a double so important to the mission that with out her, the whole business model would crumble into a heap of ashes!!
I felt bad for her until she said she moved to the U.K. It’s more expensive to live there than the U.S. She must be doing really well.
She was working for Google since 2010, so she was definitely making a good living I guess. I wonder if the UK’s healthcare is #1 in the world and free of charge so that lady felt compelled to jump the ship and move across the ocean with a baby😳
@@nickmiller6078 Nothing is really free in this world. U.K. healthcare is no exception. People over there pay way more in taxes than we do here.
@@ericellis309Yeah, I know. For the record: I don’t really like what’s going on with a healthcare in this country but am still not considering moving to another country 😂 Not to mention, I don’t have a google salary💁
Google ate my brain 🧠 😮
Having kids is a choice and this story illustrated the fact that google is a company of, by and, for young people.
At the end of the day Google will follow the law and if someone's performance is not up to snuff they will be let go for younger brighter talent.
How old is their CEO and board members ... I'm guessing they're not young people. And clearly they didn't follow the law, they offered certain things with her contract, they did not fulfill those requirements that they promised, so legally they would have to pay. They are the ones that touted their extended leave program as a way to get people in...breaching it after the fact ... Is a no
