    Luke, you're still one of the best strongmen in the world. That's not an opinion, the numbers don't lie. You wouldn't keep getting invited to everything if you weren't.

    • @goldilox811
      @goldilox811 9 месяцев назад +4

      We’ll, he’s one of the biggest names in the sport so he will be invited not always based on merit alone. It’s a simple fact

    • @BeardOfPower7

      @@goldilox811Luke can still compete and qualify. I think is invitations now are based on merit.

      @BeardOfPower7 no if it was Merritt than 2 inactive strongman would not of been invited to the Arnold's

    • @anthonyproffitt5341
      @anthonyproffitt5341 9 месяцев назад +10

      @@bdegrdsyou have a funny idea of what merit is. Two former WSM winners, Arnold’s strongman classic winners, etc…… still in their prime age. They bring hype and are contenders if in good shape, and they won’t commit to prep for a competition if they weren’t a threat to win. There past results, fan draw, and expected performance are all elite level. Expecting them to do lower level comps is stupid and disrespectful.

    • @fakename5015
      @fakename5015 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@anthonyproffitt5341not to mention injury risk. Anyone who knows strongman and even those who don’t know anything but watched the Rogue knows this is a dangerous sport. Why would eg Thor risk injury for some regional comp? This is like football (American), not baseball. Every time you compete you’re using a limited supply of lifetime punishment and risking serious injury. This isn’t baseball where you do rehab starts in the minor leagues.

    Awesome to see you focusing on you and making sure to rehab what you need to now! Your sacrifices in your own personal training in order to support Tom has been noticed. I think it is not selfish at all for you to focus on yourself now!

    How much you've supported Tom is one of the things that makes you my favourite competitor. But focusing more on yourself at this point doesn't take away from everything you've done for Tom. And it's just the training I know you'll still be cheering Tom on at every comp.

    Thank god you’re not retiring! Was about gutted when I saw the title of the video. YOU ARE NOT OLD!! Your coming into your prime and with the new training and personal focus you WILL be better than you ever thought possible! The training you were doing was already going well you were getting stronger and faster and I seriously believe you will surprise yourself over the next couple months and years with how much greater you will become! You absolutely stood out at the world’s strongest nation which was great to see! But from here on out you’ll be in it 100% all the time because now you have a fire in you that’s going to carry you to greater heights! Completely bummed you won’t be competing in the Arnold this year!! Was definitely looking forward to seeing you there! It’s just not the same without you. WE NEED THE HIGHLAND OAK!!! Anyway so happy to hear you’re focused on you and bettering yourself!! We’re all cheering for you!! Fk s**t up and givum hell Luke!!!

    I have said this to family and friends that you are an incredible athlete. As a huge Stoltman fan I have found that you never had a chance to totally focus on strongman your whole career as you worked on oil rigs. It's only been the last couple of years or so. Big Tommy has had the chance to focus solely on strongman and had you there for support the whole time. You need to focus on you as you said and you have all the right tools and grit to win big at competitions. Glad you have had this change of heart and can't wait to see what you can achieve. Just seen this... Totally agree big fella, it's brutal and every bit as hard to do the non conventional strength moves which for a big lad is an issue around mobility. The pain and effort you put into that, is every bit as much for your strongman lifts, so for anyone watching... respect to Luke!!! Willing to adapt, change, learn, heal and grow. Always impressed by your honesty, graft, sense of enjoyment and fun in the sport, but also the mentoring and support for your wee bro. You'll be around for a long time yet big man... Alba gu brath!

    Mace is a great idea to open the shoulder up - but given your lack of rotation in the shoulder you should start with behind the head only, pendulums. Take your arms back as far as you can currently go and just using wrist flicks, get the bell swinging side to side while your hands stay behind your head. A minute with your right hand on top, then a minute with the left on top. Do that several times a day and over the next couple of weeks you'll get your hands further and further back. I had a similar issue and now I can pendulum with my hands all the way down at t-shirt level, and the 360s are easy both sides now

      Oh I'm 51 year young. Frigg the people that say old age stop training. Ask them to stop breathing for an hour😅😅

    Good on you Luke. Sometimes we just need a new fresh approach to squeeze a little more out of ourselves.

    Focusing on yourself, making you the best version of yourself you can be, isn't a decision made lightly. Bravo. Love the Stoltman Brothers, but support for one doesn't mean the other should sacrifice themselves. Keep moving forwards. Be kind.

    Functional movements with the heavy mace doing 360's and kettlebell halo's along with light high rep cuban presses sorted many years of shoulder issues for me within a few months,
    i look forward to following your program for increased shoulder range of movement, pain is the prize, change is the reward, keep on keeping it spicy.....

    Fair one I say. I mean you still have sponsors, stoltman gym academy and the gym itself. Plus lots of other little side hustles to be earning from! You have a young family and wife after all. Retire but still keep with the filming in Scotland and abroad. You will be there to support Tom anyway, so it obvious that you will never step away entirely. Seniors events & comps to look to do also.

    I’ve always thought you could win worlds strongest man but it’s your mindset that lets you down! Focus on the goal and be confident In yourself be the alpha!!

    Kids think he's old but reality is 35-45 your at your strongest, what tends to get you by late 30's is mileage depending on how long and how fortunate with injuries you have been. But there is no deterioration from age at that point. But I'm sure a teenager or 20 something nubie who wasn't alive when I started will try and correct me.
